I likened him to the adjectives you threw out at others. Are you saying they don't try? Brent is a good player. But he picks and chooses when he works hard. I don't like saying it - but this year has shown me some home truths. Brent Moloney talks a great game, he doesn't live up to it though. As I have said - Brent is a very good player. But until he can get his worst games closer to his best games he will continue to disappoint. I don't like the way you are giving him these excuses. I am getting sick of the 'reasons' our senior players are given to not perform to an adequate level.
-
Not when you lionise them. We reward mediocrity at this club.
-
If Fevola was a positive influence over this young group we would be all over him. We should have kept JMac as captain, and we made a huge blunder. We need less NQR leaders at this club, not more. Trade for some strong consistent mids with leadership.
-
It isn't just that. If you are not contributing to a the MFC winning a flag then I don't want you. Contribution can be subjective. I wanted us to do a u-turn on JMac when Bruce did a runner. He won't be around for a flag but he will positively affect those that would be around. Kane Cornes might be worth pursuing. Simon Black. Luke Power. Fevola will not bring that to the MFC.
-
I think this is an ironic post...
-
That's pretty flippant... I believe the young players that we have will be in a position to win a flag. I don't think the timeframe will suit a 30 year old body with 12 years of AFL in it. I believe that we have to fast track the development of a few, or trade in, to establish that forwardline that might deliver a flag. I also see the presence of a Fevola as a hindrance to that development to win that flag.

We have reportedly given him a "best offer we can give" offer, and that is that. So it tacit to say it is within our wage structure (to borrow an EPL term). He will be paid more than if the GWS didn't exist. Yes and? You play the cards you are given. If these boys are resentful of Tom, then maybe it will inspire them to do as much as he does to prepare himself for football. We were always going to have to pay 'overs' for a few of our players after we assembled the list we have assembled. You play the cards you are given. Or you can fold? But that's just giving up on a decent hand not knowing what the other person has - or whether he is bluffing (the 'he' is GWS in this metaphor).

Great... I wasn't the first to use the word 'damage.' It's incendiary language, it's unnecessary, and I am getting sick of posters targetting a 20 year old with the vitriol they have been recently. He is still a Demon, and will be until he isn't. Respect should be shown. That is it. I won't get into a semantical war of words, I don't care about semantics.
-
I don't think I am an idiot for thinking Fevola would be seen as deadwood inside of three years. I want to win a flag. Fevola does not a flag bring.
-
Never said it didn't. The issue I have is with people saying it 'damaged' the club. Affecting this failed season in a minor way is not the same as 'damaging' the club. 'Damage' is loaded language that isn't warranted in my opinion, certainly not for a distraction.
-
Yes, ans another poster said this is our worst season in 25 years. We may have a failed coach and leadership group but 07, 08, and 09 were pretty bad...
-
All this begs the question - can one defer talks until the season is over and not affect the season? If yes, what did Tom do wrong? If no, does that mean a player can not defer talks?
-
And I am saying that 'whatever small impact Scully's recalcitrance has caused, it pales to other problems we have.' I am not going to sit here and give an extreme view - that Tom's situation isn't distracting. But I am certainly not going to stand up and target a 20 year old for delaying talks with a club that clearly has some issues to deal with.
-
Both of those teams are going for flags. We are at a point where we have enlisted a loyal, well-priced consultant to fix problems within the very institution that we are having a go at a kid for not committing to. Whatever samll 'damage' the decision to postpone the decision is making, it is nothing compared to the structural problems at the club that most likely led to the postponement of the decision. This is such a nothing issue for me. With FA, you better get used to delying of contracts, in fact, the Players Assoc. may push for a 'Free Agency Period' of a fortnight where players can sign at other clubs. If that is the case, players will delay resigning until that time - as they should, lest we have the laughable NRL-like situation of players leaving 12 months after publically signing somewhere else.
-
But how? Give me a damage report, Joker. That was a reference. If you got it, you're a nerd.
-
How is that? And could this be 'referred' pain from the issues of the incompetent FD, meddling Admin, and blind Board? I would love to know how waiting until the end of the year is inflicting pain on the club.

He really is a frontrunner at this stage. I'm sorry to say it - I don't want to. But whe the heat is on - Moloney goes missing. He isn't alone - his captain goes missing, in fact most blokes older than 24 go missing when we need them the most. This is why, if he signs, Scully and his peers should be given the leadership of the club. As Old55 said - even when he is injured and down on form, he still contributes, as he did on Sunday.
-
No it isn't. You can't pick and choose when you have the passion to play for the Dees, the committment to the cause to run end to end against teams with good players. Yeah, he looks great when he knashes his teeth at the opposition, and yells at his teammates, but that doesn't make you a leader. When he can lift against better sides when we need him - then a leader he will be.
-
This belief is why we get frontrunners at the club. It is not the bloke who performs only when he wants to - it is the fault of others? Brent is a quality player - but don't kid yourself the way I did about Brad Green. He doesn't play well in the games we need him the most - he isn't consistent. And he isn't going to be a great captain. He may be the best of bad choices, but if that is the case - have shared captaincy and give it to the kids.
-
Somebody was pwned in this thread... Awesome. Can someone do that for Freak. That would be funny. I wonder how rpfc would go... Interesting.

I think Viney is as outside as a former champ can get. He went to the Hawks in 2001 and has been away from the club until 2011, he then was a development coach - and not involved in day-to-day coaching of the team. He was never the senior assistant to Bailey as some idiots claim, and it is completely unfair to tar brush him with the failures of Bailey-Green and co. With that said - I want Malthouse or Lyon. However, if Garry thinks that Todd with some very astute assistants from Collingwood, Geelong, etc. can do the job then I am all for it. But that decision can be made in late October, when Malthouse and Lyon have both said 'no.'
-
We needed Tom Scully when we drafted him - such an impressive individual, player and leader. Were we to know that there would be a chance he would, after seeing the club's issues, leave for GWS? We still need that strong character. He's 20, out of form, injured, and still contributes to the extent he does. It wasn't a failed pick at all. I hope we keep him.
-
Moloney us a frontrunner. Loves it when we dominate, doesn't do much when we need him the most.
-
Yeah, he has beaten up on enough crap sides to take it out. What an impressive night it will be... So many worthy winners from consistently good players who have...I can't continue...

Tell us who Prendergast got wrong. Do his performance review so Jimmy doesn't have to bother.
