  1. I will try again... The Great Process of 2007 ©, of which Hazyshadeofgrinter (a poster here) can tell you, was a very thorough process that included match simulations, personality descriptors, and deep list analysis. It was the epitome of the perfect committee process to find the best football brain and the most eloquent leader of men. But a head coach doesn't necessarily require the best brain - that's what assistants are for, nor do they need to be eloquent - that's what CEO's are for. The process did not get us a successful head coach, there are no guarantees with the best and most credentialed committee, and so maybe giving the decision over to a group led by an expert footy consultant who is loyal and wants the best for the club is the best decision to make? Ask me in 5 years time if it was...
  2. I'm sorry, was I being unfair? And to Demons player no less! For shame!
  3. Green, Moloney, Rivers, and a few others must be off then...
  4. Jesus! You wanted Sheedy?! No you don't understand what I am saying. We didn't pick the best head coach last time because the 'process' delivered us the best footy brain. Sometimes you need more than that. We know what we want, and the type of coach we need. And when we know what we need, who needs Matty Lloyd to tell you something you already know?
  5. Seriously? Didn't a young bloke with an equal pedigree to Scully just resign when he didn't have to, for a period of time that was longer than necessary? Jack Trengove doesn't think we are 'direction less' he thinks we are 'direction full'... I call syndrome!
  6. We were widely lauded for the process that got us a coach who didn't last 4 years... Stop getting so hung up on the process. Sometimes talking through the list at length, and match simulation at length, and tactics in depth, you don't find the best head coach - you find a very good assistant coach who would like to be a head coach. I want Malthouse or Lyon, but failing that you go out and get a hardnosed personality to steel the weak minds that are our 'senior' players and you poach some IP from Geelong, Collingwood, and/or Hawthorn.
  7. Eddie McGuire isn't a magician... He isn't a warlock, a lawyer, or even very smart... If Malthouse would like to keep coaching - he can come to the Demons in mid-October 2011 and sign his last coaching contract and go out on his terms. I want Lyon or Malthouse and I think we can get one of them. And I will say this - if we suddenly go cold on Lyon - M2M would have worked...
  8. I understand why you feel this way, many others on Land feel the same. I don't know whether he will stay or go, but he has maintained all along his intentions, and if we have had an issue with his recalcitrance, surely we can see the reasons behind it - considering what has occurred at the club in the last month. I don't think he is being selfish - this contract is half him and half the club he signs for. It's a big decision. And he isn't holding the club to ransom. Ransom requires negotiation...
  9. This is concerning... But so was VISY... It is an interesting situation and I don't know whether a deal with AGL is indeed in place, I will say that the ACCC goes into things to this degree for two reasons: 1. A strong, legitimate case against an entity. 2. A strong push from another entity that is not benefiting from the existence of said entity. Really hope it's the latter. Either way I would take their money...
  10. Hope so. It would be a watershed moment for the club.
  11. And he is in the know is Connors... Why would he stake his reputation unless he was right? And those journos are just deafening at the moment rushing to say sorry to Taylor and the general football public for their baseless, excitable accusations...
  12. Walker stays with Crows. I awaiting the mea culpas from Ralph, Barrett and co. But I won't hold my breath. You die if you do that...
  13. Perhaps, we certainly have thrown out the book of 'PR Management'... 'Effectively'? I don't think so. He is fulfilling a position that Jimmy would be driving anyway. CC is the head of the Footy Dept. Garry is the effective oice of the board. The two roles are distinct in my eyes. And should be, especially considering CC is under review in his position. As for the coach search - you're right. We are trying to poach someone. And I say 'Go. For. It.' The right 'process' to getting a coach is subjective. We were applauded for the process that landed us a coach that failed 3 and 3/4 years later... Band-Aid? Now you are being unfair. If Garry can help us snare Malthouse or Lyon for 5 years, how is that a 'Band-Aid' solution? It may be the case that they already have their man and that this is a charade... But that is speculation best left to journos on their twitter accounts... We are going badly. The players hate the admin, the FD is incompetent and under review, the Board didn't realise anything, and we have awful on-field leadership. I would trust no-one at our club to get this right. So what have we done? We have brought in a cheap, knowledgeable consultant who will be loyal and help us make a decision in the best interests of the club. Including a behind the scenes handshake deal with a team in the finals - which at some point we will have to ask for. Not necessarily get, but definitely ask for. I am so comfortable with Garry doing this it is scary...
  14. 5 years for Malthouse or Lyon. 3 for others. No performance triggers.
  15. So they are a competitor to EnergyWatch?
  16. Yeah, I would be guessing your relative works for a competitor of AGL?
  17. Mick can just say a couple days after the GF - "I am taking a break from footy." Two weeks later we are arranging a press conference. It's how it was done when he went from WCE to Coll. And he was in the middle of a contract, not at the start of some Director of Caoching role that has a stipulation that - Mick has to agree to the role or it is voided. He can easily get out of the contract. If he wants to coach the Dees, there is nothing stopping him. But it is 2012 or never. He better hope Carlton implodes in 2012...
  18. I believe they get a commission from the energy provider that a consumer changes to.
  19. I would listen to offers, but he has an attitude that I admire in teammates that I play with. He is aggressive and competitive and can play a role very well...at times. As he is simply a HFF, he would never be untouchable, but it would take a bit to pry him away.
  20. Never thought he would stay and while it isn't confirmed I believe that he will go. And if he wants to coach us, great. But 2012 or never. The club shouldn't wait for a year, and he shouldn't wait. It may be the difference between him getting a senior job and becoming irrelevant.
  21. No, I don't think it could. At all... Brendan isn't a micro manager, he is a micro thinker...
  22. Let us enjoy it. We just doubled the previous arrangement with Kaspersky. Your emoticon would more befit your position if you think that doubling sponsorship deals is 'nothing less' than what we should expect...
  23. No, you're ashamed. And get a sense of humour...
  24. I'm taking the [censored]! I'm a fan of Cameron. He's been in poor form of late, but this is the kind of thing he can wrangle. So I guess the club has a decision to make - keep a all-star CEO and put up with some of his micromanaging annoyances, or get rid of him and his talents...
  25. Like this one... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/94/Barack_Obama_sitting_at_the_Resolute_desk_2009.jpg
