I would keep the trade period open for the first 6 weeks of the season and then slam it shut. Essentially, I would try to make sure the Tomlinson’s and Goldstein’s are tradeable when teams know they are superfluous which is AFTER the preseason and into the first few rounds and then close that ‘trade deadline’ for the season. I understand the desire for a mid-season period but I think it is too disruptive and will be under utilised that far into a season where teams IP is tantamount to state secrets.

Sue, you’re killing me here…

Consider me… …still.

Amongst some awful company there. I mean, just…the worst.

Jordon ain’t sticking around to be sub. Also can we not have the tail wagging the dog with tactical decisions. We are going to lose good players over the next 5 years. ‘Why rpfc? WHY?!’ Because we have generational mids that soak up most of the midfield minutes and will squeeze out good players. I thought it was to be Harmes last year, and it might still be, but it also may mean Sparrow or Jordon leave because we simply can’t get them into the roles they are suited to. Personally, having 3 more mids than you need and playing them in positions they hate is called the Western Bulldogs..er… I mean… lunacy…

My opinions on this are well worn so I… will… continue that. Public transport? Centrality to Brunton Ave? Space and spec for admin? What are you valuing here? The ability of the random punter to do training reports? The ‘historical geographic’ importance of an area? The gormless need to have the FD and the Admin in the same building? This is a training and high performance facility. Of which the intent should be building athletes and driving styles of play that keep the AFLM/AFLW (maybe) playing groups competing for flags. That’s it. You look like a sheep walking on its hind legs when you argue points that don’t support that goal.

Isn’t the intention that the women’s team have Casey as their dedicated base? Which would see them ahead and apart?

I occasionally read it a few years ago to hate read the MFCSS swing into ‘bolted-on confidence’ when wins followed a poor start. You can weed out the space cadets on here too by poking your head in there.

No it doesn’t. He plays his role and does it well. He also showed in the first two rounds what he can still do when his knee isn’t hampering him. Manage him this year and next and he will be a weapon still. The dismissiveness is not only naive, it’s just wrong.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/896733 Story on the forward line changes. The stat that caught my eye was the reduction in Harmes being forward. I have long endured the pure mids that find themselves ‘playing roles’ in the forward line but they don’t know what they are doing and gum up the works so to speak. Been refreshing to have less of that and more of those that actually have some forward craft and instinct in there.

Yes, we are making sure the kids can play roles so well that you can allow former role players (Pickett) to suddenly be more expansive and not lose anything from that role he is leaving behind.

This backs up that I heard ALL our stars were under clouds or varying extents in the back half of last year. That’s goes a long way to explain the drop off from the group in games and in the season itself. I will never fully understand why we literally limped into the finals in 2022 and didn’t ‘use’ that 10 game winning streak to get rests for players and blood players. But we move on. Never again tho.

Yes, and this sounds trite; but it won’t get to his head like it would one of the kids.

I am really unsure which way they go this week but keeping McVee, JVR, Chandler, and bringing in Kozzie are locks for me. Maybe JJ goes out, maybe BBB is managed and he should be nursed through the next 2 years (he is more important than many would like to admit), maybe we go with less noted defenders. Dunno. As an aside, I am a simp for Melksham but how good is the ability to bring him in for Brown and upend what we throw Sydney. It seemed to really make the McCartins uneasy.
-
Yes? She has little idea about that? And is usually spot on with the ‘gossip/politics’ … as I was referencing?
-
Gets to play in front of his mates and family again this week too.

Well said.
-
Pretty good at it tho…

IT’S THE LOADING

Thanks @Lucifers Hero!

You can’t drop Judd after his first 3 weeks of excellent play. Why bother at all if you drop him now.
-
What, was he negative?
-
Moving the ball quicker from the back half definitely. Brown looks more dangerous than he ever has. But when we went small… gee whiz, golly gee wowee as Brian Taylor would say. Throughout the game we were creating front half turnovers, they still went coat to coast but they are the best in the comp at that. So when they screwed up we made them pay - that’s all you can do to good teams. Petty is as really serviceable but seemed a little lost the closer to goals he was. Spargo, ANB, and Chandler are the fuel that powers that forward movement. Soaking in a win against that arrogant mob.

@Lucifers Hero Luci - this needs an update. You know what to do.
