I think he’s both. Our midfield doesn’t lack much but if you said to me; let’s put a quick witted and footed skilled ball user (Pickett) and a strong body with an excellent line breaking long kick and good vision (Rivers) in there, I would say…

ND5 people!! This is why we ride! -
I think Trent Rivers is our next midfielder to compete for time there with CO13, CP5, JV7, JH4, and KP36. Ahead of Sparrow in my eyes.
-
It was the Rolls Royce himself; Travis Johnstone. But yeah I like the former players -decorated or not, coming back.
-
Some think he is a star-to-be, personally, I don’t see it. Sewell would be a good comparison.
-
Sparrow too. It’s odd being judgemental for a team that started like that but that’s selection with 4 of our best 8 players out.
-
Jumped into it. What a game tho.

Don’t go mate. Bad sign and all that. Won’t be a great time. … YOUR PRESENCE MAKES US LOSE! I’m sorry, I overreacted. Enjoy the game.

It’s what happens when a group becomes comfortable and no one pushes to change the status quo.
-
It’s all comparative to the best teams of 2023. And we just can’t be certain yet, that’s all I am saying. The proof is the pudding eating as they say.

These night games ain’t good for you people. Its the waiting that… …turns you insane.

While I think your summation is fine, you can’t have certainty of our fitness and how well drilled we are after 2 practice games. I am appreciative that we seem to have learned the lesson of last year and not played under prepared players ahead of our depth, and that we look to have good synergy leading into this game. But that is as certain as I will be. Dees by 28

The pies remind me of the Dees in 2021. Just can’t hate that footy. Taking the game on and backing your skills. Not overcoached. Not much stilted play. And they made Geelong look old and slow.

You know those nightmare films where the protagonist is awful because of some curse and everyone is trying to kill them and then they take off some totem and all is good again? That is how I feel about Cam Guthrie’s hair. I was all ready to resume my hate of the bloke and I just can’t get it up. Shame.

Like being Melbourne’d back in the day except you’re a deadset f log.
-
That’s cute. I mean, it’s cute when they say that but we can cut the [censored] yeah? On here, as anonymous Dees fans - we can cut that [censored] out? They are role players. By definition, people. By definition.

I think that is a bit galaxy brain to think that Oliver is as replaceable as ANB. You cannot replace your best players, their talent and consistent performance is existentially important for us to being a top 4 team. We can’t replicate that. Now ANB plays an important box-to-box role as a fwd. I get that. But that is more replaceable than what our top 10 most talented performers provide. Also, as an aside, he is valued but he was told his skill execution and decision making has him on thinner and thinner ice as our depth catches up to him.
-
Here we go, Tommo! lol I will be rooting for him. Like that forward line as listed.

4+1

He plays a role. He plays it well when he isn’t butchering the footy, but he isn’t one of our best players. And that is my point - you are far more likely to find an ANB than an Oliver.
-
You can’t replace your best players. Depth only works on the periphery - to replace ANB and Rivers or specific roles like FP or defensive wing. So the absences of Fritsch, Viney, May, and Salem will be answered only, and respectively, by the existing forwards, mids, Lever and Petty, and the back flankers to do a little bit more. I think we will win unless someone gets a hold of us. Our team looks energised and synergised and that can win you a few games on its own early in the season.
-
Check. It. Out. Do yourselves a favour! Who is going to check it out? Or who has excuses? Note: I have an excuse. But how good is yours?
-
He was playing on a kid. He showed little respect and played 20m ahead of him. I wouldn’t infer much from it at all. The only learning for Petty would be you might want play properly when you’re playing, otherwise you’re just properly playing.

Oh no doubt, and if it wasn’t for the 5th (?) most important footy discussion show making it a ‘chink in the armour’ I would have paid it no heed. Junk time in a junk game.
