  1. That will be the line for the new coach. Do you realise that? If someone asks Roos/Williams/Richardson/TheAnimatedCorpseOfNormSmith that question in October. They will say that we will not be near to beating the best sides for 3-5 years.
  2. Since when is agreeing with Neeld's position on Moloney, endorsing him as coach? Some of you are making that equivocation - either because you are lazy or a reprobate. As if Neeld would be dismissed on one decision. And if he can't then no-one can be called his supporter for agreeing with one decision.
  3. Which well-worn point am I?
  4. What if we fight hard but he wants to go somewhere where he can win?
  5. You mean the one you and many others 'talked down'? If the difference is between a 'D' midfield and an 'E' midfield - then what does it matter? Neeld couldn't get rid of him quick enough and while I have not seen much in the way of sound judgement from Neeld I am not about to throw away my own negative convictions when it came to Brent Moloney. I recall many times in 2011 and 2012 when I felt his 'leadership' was wanting and his form was only valuable in one direction. He averaged 10 less possessions in wins than in losses - while Jones averaged one possession more in losses. He had some very good years at this club and I hope one day he can come back to a place he has great affection for, but not only is he not the answer to our present troubles, he was apart of the problem.
  6. He's 'earnt' the right to go where he wants and I think he will do that. I would keep him but I don't really GAS, to be honest.
  7. Finally Magner in the team! That midfield looks really one paced. What is Magner doing in there?
  8. I would like to see that confirmed before I change my contracts thread. It would be a strange decision to say the least. Unfortunately, most of you have missed the moral of that piece - that we have our best players locked away for a few years yet. The much anticipated exodus of quality players will have to wait a few years.
  9. Oh, he would be in the 18. He would be getting 30 touches against GC and GWS and 15 against every other team. He would yell, and scream, and point - and we would be having the very same conversations about the future of the list that we are having now. That isn't to say that Moloney should not have been kept - I would have kept him. But the evocations of Moloney's use is being so inflated that I had to post in this thread: if he were at the club we would be exactly where we are.
  10. They are going to be Melbourne people. As if any well run club is going to have Directors who don't have a personal interest in the club. They do not get paid BTW. Loyalty and discretion is not advised - it is mandatory when it comes to a board.
  11. The board is not happy with how the FD is being run? I knew that. No-one goes until we know what we are doing and whom we are moving on to. Craig became in the gun when the Dank stuff turned up, same with Misson. I don't think we can fix the FD until we know exactly what happened there. We simply canno restructure after firing Neeld (a most of you want soon) and then fire members of that restructure. Get all the info, know what are going to do, and do it.
  12. But that is not the inference on here. Those that want the AFL to save us from ourselves would not expect that to involve a majority of the curent board. But I am here to tell people that that is what is expected from the few I have spoken to 'in the know'. A few additions, a few subtractions, an we move into 2014.
  13. I understand your concerns, BB/Fan but we cannot just let the club's directors be AFL appointed. By all means get the AFL involved in who you are thinking of tapping but that is the extent of it. They are all Demons and they all want what is best for the club. They may have been in over their head but they will do what is best for the club. We will have a new President and we will have some new Directors but our current plight does not require a scorched Earth. We are such a small community and we have had too much bloodletting and pain. I'm sorry to those that want a scapegoat but much like the fact that we will move forward with our current list of players for the next few years - we will work with the bulk of our current board.
  14. What do you envision from the players? Turning on their coach? On each other? You stick to the company line - not because you are a robot, or a puppet - but because it would be exponentially worse for players to publicly denigrate the coach, the FD, and the club. Some of you just want the players to agree with your preconceived view of why we are at the place we are at.
  15. In terms of what we paid to get him, he has been a roaring success. In terms of where he fits with the medium term future he is just what we need and that is some bigger bodied help for his namesake in the midfield. He reminds me of Cam Bruce with his ability to cover ground and get the footy. He looks a little tougher but not as dangerous up forward. I really hope he can give us 5 solid years of footy at a decent level and allow us to blood these kids we have (and will get) properly.
  16. I don't believe Viney was apart of the Old Boys Club that we all lie to blame for our ills. In fact he left the club in 2001 and cam back after a decade IIRC. Most notably he was at Adelaide and Hawthorn as successful Assistants (if one can be a successful assistant...). Love the passion that flies around here for the footy club. Which is why I won't ignore those that have the club, and want the best for it, in their minds eye. Both RR's have been more about petty point scoring and self-aggrandizement while trying to antagonize all and sundry. One is banned, the other is not. Oddly enough, when RR was a mod he would have banned people for doing what he is now doing.
  17. I m not going to hang Howcroft for being smug and arrogant. Anyone who can stand Will Anderson would have known what Howcroft is like... Having said that, I don't like the entitled way this board can wash its hand of the issues it has been so heavily involved in - if involved is the right word... As for the priority pick - if we continue like this we should get one. I don't care what other teams think or whether we have screwed up previous picks - that is a BS reason. Luck is what it is and while we get McLean and Sylvia, Hawthorn a year later get Franklin and Roughhead, and a year later Coll get Pendlebury and Thomas. Out inability to turn kids into great players is irrelevant to the question of whether we should get a PP. There will be bad teams and we are one now and we should receive the help that any perennially bad team should receive.
  18. We have needed an independent voice as CEO ever since 186, and while I appreciate the concern of the board that too many changes can be destabilizing (personally I think they felt it was bad PR :eyeroll:) they should have moved on then. We get another clean slate. This one is AFL-endorsed and manipulated. I am sanguine. In both senses of the word.
  19. Yes, we keep Waiting For Superman and he keeps standing us up. Jackson will have his way and that is good for the structure of the FD and any new appointments. But our salvation is slower and more boring than any hero-by-night. We require a board of high influence and involvement, a FD of experience and efficiency, and a proven head coach able to provide a confident playing group and a competent gameplan. And while we are doing that - we need a unified supporter base with respect for those that will fall on their swords and for those are pushed.
  20. By all means, run for the board. By all means, get a ticket together. But don't expect a group of Demons to go searching for their alternatives. I am certain that Jackson will restructure the FD and the admin and that inexperience an duplicated roles will fall victim to that. I am also confident that McLardy will step aside. But to ask the board to find their own ousters? If there are some impressive Demons out there with enough time to dedicate to the cause then they can make their intentions known and run for the board. I refuse to believe that renewal requires a bloodbath. This board is not the enemy, not will their ousters be our saviour. We are in this mess together and we have to maintain whatever small amount of influential, dedicated Demons that we can. I want to see a new President maintain the bulk of the current AFL-endorsed board, add whatever individuals impressive enough to the board, keep/hire an industry standard CEO, and structure an efficient FD with a head coach that everyone gets behind. That is the platform for 2014 and the long march to relevance.
  21. No one needs to leave immediately. We need to move forward in an emotionless, methodical manner - which is the pervasive message I got from Jackson today. We need a decent structure, we need to tailor everything we do to getting better at footy and move from there. We can set up 2014 towards the end of this season and at the end of this season. Let Jackson do his job and not just think it is going to be about removing other people from theirs. It will happen but it isn't an answer in-and-of-itself, we need to make that decision when we know where to move next.
  22. It would be our stadium. As Geelong has Skilled and makes money off of everything - we would have the same or similar set-up. I couldn't care less about what's best for teams in Melbourne. Just don't care. A Casey 25k seater stadium would set this club up for an eternity.
  23. If Magner isn't promoted then the FD don't rate him.
  24. When your government renewed the agreement with the Tassie Hawks you made your choice. That decision, heavily lobbied for by the AFL and against by the PR team for the Tassie bid was the bullet that killed any chance of Tassie getting a team. Hawthorn are entrenched now, NM are moving into Hobart. It's done. Try again in 20 years is the unofficial word from the PR people in charge of the Tassie bid.
  25. I would say so - from what I could gather the pin that was inserted to help his lisfranc was giving him issues not the area that was repaired. And I can't answer your first question without a copy of the CBA or a competent sports journalism industry, and I have seen neither.
