When did I tell you to stop? Groan. You are ok with the players taking the [censored]. Posters on here will do the same. Get over it. The end. -

If your pictures and interaction with the players are just a bit of fun then equally so is any benign post about your interaction with the players. Stop reacting to every little aside (or '[censored] take') that gets thrown your way. The mods will protect any poster from being unnecessarily and harshly harangued. We appreciate the training reports and the pictures, but practice what you preach. -
This one?: "make a deliberately offensive or provocative online posting with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them." That is not what you described: "A troll is someone like a sad person who feels the need to send endless messages to the parents of an abducted child suggesting they are responsible." You are confusing 'trolling' with perhaps cyber bullying? Or sociopathic criminal behaviour? I don't like trolls on internet forums, but they are not what you think they are.

Was saty's question of JKH necessary? No, but no-one is condemning him for it. All CB did was cringe. A poster make a face and we are ruining another thread about it. If some are to quick to diminish saty/The Devil Inside, then are we not doing the reverse jumping on CB? -

Nah. -
Where the hell did you get that definition? Good god. A troll, when used on an internet forum, is someone who is only trying to say things and direct conversation designed to get a rise out of people for their own enjoyment. We have had a few of those other the journey.

Why are people getting stuck into bing - all he said was 'move on.' And so much angst over CB's one word post... He can't post a reaction? It's not like he condemned anyone. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AARON VANDENBERG
rpfc replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was voted the second best player in NEAFL and took it up to a very strong Sydney reserves midfield during the year. White is a kid. I think there is a definite strategy with how the club is using the Rookie List at the moment - young smalls get 2 years, older players get 1 year, and King will probably get the 3 years to see whether he will be something. So Harmes and Vandenberg better get going. BTW, Aaron spells his name Van Den Berg on Facebook but he is from the South Coast... -
Wow, there is some post-draft excitement... Tracking for around 25k at Xmas.
-
If there is an early season promotion - I think it will be Vandenberg. He is one of the best players in a (much derided) state league coming off an incredible season - if he stays injury free and hits the VFL well, he would be the only one of the 4 I can see being asked to step up and play.

Well, I played a game with him a few years ago when he was little fatter and slower... Then he got bloody serious about his footy and really is a dominant mid in the NEAFL. Easily Ainslie's most damaging player. He has a bit of dynamism to him but I don't want people to get their expectations up - he is going to find it tough to step up a few levels from NEAFL to AFL. He may even have issues at VFL level with execution of close skills, but he will get in nice and hard and low and get forward a bit. He would be very surprised to be honest - he was headed over the Centrals in SA to play next year but he will gladly have this opportunity - he is a very self-assured bloke too. You can interpret it as arrogance, but I think all players require a bit of that...- 102 replies

I believe that the clubs that were eligible for a 'pre-selected rookie' won't be revealed until after the PSD, as the 6 or so picks in the PSD can take said players. So if the Lions did 'pre-select' this Hammelman kid, Carlton (for example) can take him in the PSD before the Lions lay claim to him in the Rookie Draft. That is my understanding.

Better than 'Pet.' I said pet, I said love, I said darl, I said pet - get the effing ball! Actually, I don't mind that... -
Sorry to sound like OD once again but all this talk is just that. I completely understand the desire to hopeful again, but there is an air of fait accompli regarding our renaissance and our performance at this draft. Well, Father Time will judge that for us and there is no-holds-barred in his assessment either. The shoulders of these kids can have a few years to fill out before we lump all of our expectations and neuroses can't they?
-
At a base level - taking photos and asking questions of people every week is placing them on a pedestal. This is something that we all engage in, but let's not mince words here - these kids are waiting to do something with their lives, I am just uneasy with the amount of interest we show in these kids. If this is a sport - these kids have done nothing. If these kids are now entering an entertainment industry - the most entertainment they have given is a video of CP and AB laughing together on the AFL website... I have yet to fully articulate my unease but it isn't criticism - I just know how the teenagers in my team would react/behave to the attention these kids are shown.
-
Nah, just do it every year. It's not hard, it gives credibility to the leaders and you don't have issues with players inheriting what they shouldn't have.
-
Do we?

Sure they are not on a pedestal?
