Kid needs to be hypnotised. Mate, we all eff up from time to time, it is not the end of your footy career but if you make yourself only 'as good as your last touch' then it will be the end of your footy career... He's got talent, but needs to get out of his own head.
-
If it helps I have the ages in the Contracts thread pinned on the top of the forum.

He's always promised to be this good, but not this early. Some of you got off him because his skills are not great, and they aren't, but when you have an appetite for getting the footy and the bloke like he does, your impact goes beyond the ten chances you get to lace out someone.

Each case will be different. Kreuzer's body is the thing that will keep him from huge money. There still needs to be some form of restriction on top 4 clubs getting FAs, I don't think Frawley's troubles will deter them on other players...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
rpfc replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
Meh. I mean, he would be great for midfield depth, but how deep? If Goodwin sees something then back your man I guess. But... Meh. -
NFL has comp but only for third round and later. But that's not nothing. NBA doesn't, MLB is complicated but does have a compensation model I understand. Who cares about NHL. So it's a bit messy, we can carve our own path on things like this.

Well deserved. And Jack and Jesse will drag this club up the ladder.

Jamar update. There will probably be some more changes over the weekend.

Yes, the less Gawn plays in that forward line the better. And the reason why 'leading up' players would suit Hogan is that it gets him one-out as they are leading their opponent up the ground and away from the spot that Hogan wants it. I think that is why he likes playing with Dawes - because he gets out of his space and leads out which opens up more space.
-
He doesn't even have to 'ruck' well, just compete and know how to link or drop behind play or be comfortable running ahead of the footy. Remember, a number of other clubs will not have an adequate 'second ruck' and those that do won't have them in long enough to really make a difference.

Considering many of us have spent a summer or two scrolling for your Melbourne Bitter for updates on rumours you have started - forgive us for pushing for clarification on whether it was or wasn't your opinion.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BERNIE VINCE - DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR
rpfc replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I won't forget McDonalds first couple of months which were the best from a backman I have seen since Rivers. -
Well, now I feel like an right [censored]... I could only comment on what I saw in his performance and it was obviously hindered by a painful injury at times... Makes you appreciate the big games he put in though...

Did the AFL make a huge mistake denying us a priority pick last year?
rpfc replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can you show me the source of this? I doubt that would be a specific dollar amount considering the cap goes up about $400k every year. -
Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
rpfc replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
My own team has some crappy, scrappy wins and you have a laugh about how difficult it was to get going and move on with a smile and work on went didn't go well on Tuesday. Telling blokes off for winning is counterproductive and confusing. And am I 'pumping it up'? The win column is pumping it up. As I said throughout the last 8 years - winning isn't the only performance indicator by it is a legislatively important one... -
He said that when talking about the 'bad things' about being an AFL footy player in the media glare. I could grab a transcript of what Hogan said in that 'interview' with Slobbo and pull it apart if I wanted to - but I don't, because he's a kid trying to the best by himself, the club, his family, his mate that he beat, and the forum he was on. It's a little sad bringing up what Jack Watts said when he was 19 to prop up Jesse Hogan - Hogan doesn't need that, he also wouldn't want it.

Can he ruck? STMJ, I like where you are thinking about Watts - a Howe-less forward line would see a role for Jack I reckon.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
rpfc replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well, no, we were not happy - that's my point. You can't critique someone and give them a 'D' and then say 'well, be happy you got this crappy win.' Teams moving from being awful to something other than that are going to have games like the Lions, Essendon, and Carlton games and I think 'valuing winning' actually involves the act of valuing winning, and yet we just throw it on the pile of shitty losses (or lower than that apparently)... -
Jackson should put a request in for lols and to make a point. I'm serious. This is a ridiculous request.
-
He was 19 and we don't know exactly what he was asked but he never said: "I don't mind losing." Is there a difference between 'not mind losing' and 'not getting stressed about losing'?

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
rpfc replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am not defending Roos, I am defending the result against the Lions that was won half through the second quarter and the game dribbled away as we met them at their level after that. Sometimes you get bogged down, but the key thing being they won with that suffocating first half. Tottenham Hotspur fans always talk about winning the 'right way' - they should let their team win ugly too - then they might actually win something... -

Bulldogs at Etihad, Haw, WCE in Darwin, Carlton, Freo at the G, Port in Alice, Essendon... How big are your hands? Game was dead at half time but I am not going to hang my team for not finishing off. They needed to do more, but enough is better than par. -
I think he was very clear not to make a blanket statement the way Buckley did. So that is indicative that he wants that talent - whether they fight hard for it is the question...

Think beyond next year people. Howe on $450k a year over 4 years means the salary cap goes up in 2017 he will spend 3 years on very reasonable money. He is just a third tall and small ineffectual swing man but he can play footy.
-
Can we not re-write 2015 so quickly? Watts pulled his finger out and played good footy for half the year and tailed off again in the last month with every other player bar a few. That good stretch is why he is even worth something, although I don't think other clubs will see as much as we do. I like the position we are in now - we now he can deliver something onfield and the club has options with him in October. But those 4 first quarters that we were beaten 37 goals to 3 will not be swept aside if Jack leaves, the FD and the players as a group have to answer that.
