  1. We didn’t want to keep him and got Brayshaw out of him...
  2. Viney injury allowed more time on the footy. He’s confident in his ball winning and never hesitates when around the footy. I do have to say that being third fiddle (now 4th) behind Oliver and Brayshaw helps and so does a generational ruckman... But that isn’t a knock - he is in fantastic form.
  3. Gotta speak truth to power...
  4. Pert has got huge shoes to fill. What a fantastic administrator.
  5. Also we would have taken Billings. So Salem, Tyson, and Hunt for Billings and Gardiner. Its a great deal. Almost as good as the lambasted deal for Sam Frost when we gave up ND23 (Pat McKenna) for Frost, ANB and Oscar. And then recruited McKenna for a pick in the 60s a few years later...
  6. Didn’t move off his line. Clear 50
  7. Look, this is brutal, but I would love to release Fritsch up the ground. Smith or Hunt in for Spargo... Yeah, I don’t like it but footy is tough.
  8. If we are going to talk in terms of ‘moneyball’ nonsense that some like to copy from baseball - his next contract will be value for what he provides. He isn’t a prototypical finals player built in a lab by a group of German scientists that escaped the war; that’s Jack Viney - but he has the most important tangibles.
  9. Ump should have just said incorrect disposal and pay it. They always pay the scrubby kicks as HTB.
  10. Oh, I thought it was evident. My bad. I was most bullish about us beating Geelong and even wanting to play Geelong in the first round of finals and you thought they were a side to avoid... i stand by the gif tho...
  11. It is a very confused post. Memory has a way of changing over time and morph into the story we want to tell ourselves... I am Malcolm Gladwell and this was Revisionist History.
  12. The best part about his comments were the intimation that the Geelong team is on the right path and that they don’t need to holistically change how they play footy. Because what did we learn @Clint Bizkit? Never be intimidated by a footy team that wants to play ‘bruise free footy’...
  13. Let me put it this way...
  14. Not for me it doesn’t. If Hogan wants to stay, he stays. And let’s not derail a thread about a kid who played his best game in front of 91k.
  15. Not the first time I have pointed this out but he is doing his best to do what we thought Lever was going to do. You can’t replace your best players but when you are as good as Jordan Lewis you find ways to make it work. Great investment.
  16. I thought he was fantastic and it is laughable the rigidity to which a certain poster sticks to his view - will actively allay and obsfucate any reality that doesn’t back his preconceived contrarianisms. Been doing for as long as the Internet has been up and running... Footy minds know better ?
  17. Said it before - we should win if we play near our best because the team we are playing against is not built for finals footy. They look to keep possession and avoid contests and are terrible out of the centre. They will try to get Dangerfield and the other elite talent to dominate and make us reactive and inert. We play our ferocious style and lower our eyes - we will win.
  18. Pretty effing good trick! Honestly, Viney is a victim of short memories and the Amazing Progression of Oliver and Brayshaw. Jack Viney is a beast and a leader and if he fit enough, he is in that team and winning that footy.
  19. Really glad for Tyson. He is a good story too coming into his first final.
  20. If Collingwood beat WC then we would play every game at the G. But let’s beat Geelong first...
  21. Yeah, let’s not. Hope to see Don at the footy on Friday night. Onward and upward. Go Dees.
  22. Nowhere near? The beauty is in the grey here. Oscar is being pushed by Frost the last 8 weeks... If the MC like Smith, I don’t know who will make way, but Oscar is not ‘nowhere near’ being out of that side. He has a thin needle to middle here; he has to beat an important player, not make any mistakes, and contribute to us moving the footy up the ground.
  23. And Hibberd and Salem and Lewis and Fritsch and maybe Frost... But this argument is irrelevant. Oscar won’t lose his spot Fritsch or Lewis. He will lose it if we think that Lever, Frost, and Hibberd with Gawn behind the footy is more value than having Oscar back there amongst that group.
