Can only assume Kate’s overseas on holidays. Imagine Kennett or McGuire avoiding the media and/or its members in one of their respective club’s worst PR weeks in history.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast
• Petracca, Oliver, May and Windsor out. *Miller back for GC to further strengthen a potent midfield. •South East Queensland’s hottest day forecasted in 4 months. * MFC’s public relations at its lowest ebb since Norm Smith and the MFC had a minor disagreement. *MFC’s first dead rubber since round 23 2019. Aside from the above, I’m pretty bullish about today.

An external review of the Melbourne Football Club is required!
In the Carlton game we absolutely did not have all the momentum in the next 3 quarters. We outscored them by 8 points between quarter time and three quarter time. Then yes, we came home with a wet sail but left our run far too late. What are the odds of a team winning a game from behind from a centre bounce with 40 seconds on the clock (after Gawn's goal). I bet it hardly ever happens. The GWS game we conceded 12 of the next 15 goals after quarter time. That's not paying the bills and highlights everything wrong with us this year in terms of putting together 4 quarters. Did I think we would win when were 5 goals up? Sure? Did I think we would win when were 2 points down with 70 seconds left? No, and therefore I don't see this GWS game and the Carlton game as ones that got away.

I'm not buying into the "we'd be 5th on the ladder if we won all the close games." Firstly, unless you're Collingwood of 2022 and 2023, you're simply not winning all games decided by 6 points or less. Secondly, the Carlton and GWS losses were false economies and realistically we were never winning. Carlton spanked us for the majority of the game and lead for basically 100% of the game. and it took a hail Mary chance to snatch it with 30 seconds left. The GWS game was over when they kicked 4 very quick unanswered goals, and you're simply not overcoming a 26 point last quarter lead to a quality outfit. On the matter of external reviews, Phil Davis on SEN mentioned that they are far more worthwhile than an internal review. Internal reviews can be hopelessly conflicted.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
We'll be absolute bottom 2 next year if our midfield loses Viney, ANB and one of Trac or Oliver departs. Having Todd at North is a bit concerning and Jack would clearly see a bright future at North.

Hopefully West Coast are interested.

Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles
Was understood to be extremely highly rated when we appointed him last year. Josh Gabelich on SEN just doubled down on this and says he’s still incredibly highly rated within the industry. So if he’s not the problem, who is?

Luke Parker open to move
Yes he’s absolutely done at the MFC. They might even leave him stranded on 199 games.

Dan Houston
If this latest news is true, and the public relations continues to go down the tank, we can kiss goodbye any thoughts of having a big trade week to dramatically improve our list. Less Houstons and more NQR’s in your McAdams and Fullartons. I’m throughly disappointed in this news. We could’ve had a genuine, genuine A grader walk into the doors next year.

Luke Parker open to move
Billings yes. Hunter no. Hunter’s been a disaster this year but last year he was a good contributor to the side (particularly in the first half of the year) to the point that he was missed vs Freo due to suspension. The value we’d get out of 2025 Parker would be equivalent to 2023 Hunter IMO.

Disappointing. We could have had a very classy and high quality player on our list next year. A potential back to back All Australian.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Fair enough. What I should have just wrote was that it presents a good opportunity to give the fans the opportunity to say thanks to him after siren of the Pies game. You agree?
-
Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Whilst the leak is a negative, isn't it a positive that MFC supporters can say farewell/thank you to ANB in the final Collingwood game, as opposed to this news being kept secret and the fans finding out about the move in trade week?

Just another 10 coaches vote in the win over Brisbane last weekend. In rare form.

PREGAME: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast
I'd choose option 2 if I thought our fitness could get us through the last quarter and subsequently win a low scoring arm wrestle. Our fitness (or lack thereof) clearly won't allow this. I suspect option 2 will eventuate regardless but the Suns will run all over us in the last quarter as we'll tire in the heat. Goodwin might need to look at option 1 over summer provided we have the personnel to execute that type of attacking game plan.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
With Farmer and LJ we all expected them to leave but it wasn't confirmed like ANB's departure. But your point stands that people suspected Spalding, Farmer and Jackson were all leaving.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Really disappointed like most on here. Not for the first time during last Saturday night's game I was reflecting on how much of an accomplished and competent player ANB's become. One of those players that genuinely improves year on year. Port or Adelaide are getting a very good ready to go player next year. I can't recall a final round game where club supporters will be able to say good bye to their player with the knowledge that they will be playing for another club rather than retirement.

When you knew 2024 was over?
When 15 people were still in rehab as late as February.
