  1. Did McAdam demand selection next week?
  2. Not for next week but is Jefferson closing in on a debut? 4 goals/8 marks today which would make that his second or third haul of goals for the year. I’d imagine Brisbane will go all out offence and engage in a shoot out, given we can’t score 80 these days, and they can score 100 in their sleep.
  3. When was the last time a club won a game with less than 300 possessions? That’s genuine 1980’s and 1990’s quantity. Usually clubs that’s don’t crack 300 cop a belting.
  4. As I mentioned in the non MFC thread today, how is it that Brisbane keep drafting and successfully blooding goal kicking forwards, and now have 2 more in Lohmann and Morris that are now established in their best 22.
  5. As much as I’m disappointed with the performance, that’s a very level headed post. North’s last 2 weeks have been streets ahead of ours, and it was pleasing to finally see some set shot accuracy tonight, which ironically won us the game.
  6. I actually take this as a positive. Means he’s going to go off like a rocket in the coming weeks and kick some bags, if you believe in law of averages. Although Petty’s doing his best to defy that law.
  7. I thought it was years since we’ve won off the bye, but in 2021 we beat the Dons at the G (25% Covid capacity) and then flogged Brisbane in 2022 by 10 goals at the same venue. Having said that, tonight wasn’t exactly conquering Mt Everest.

  9. Really good question re: winning team not getting a Brownlow vote? Would take a brave umpire. Our players faded in and out of the game as evidenced by -70 in possessions.
  10. May has an amazing record over Larkey and arguably could get the 6 votes tonight, for keeping him goalless. No other player reeked of BOG.
  11. All we had to was win by 2 goals to cement a place in the 8, but not to be. On the positive we almost went 3 entire quarters without kicking a behind.
  12. Our first halves have been deplorable this year whereby we average about 32 points. If we’ve got 45-50 on the board at half time then we should get the job done, as North struggle to play 4 quarters and make horrendous errors.
  13. Oh well if nothing else, we should be in the 8 if we win by at least 2 goals given Port’s percentage has been smashed.
  14. Frustrating that Brisbane keep introducing genuine goal kicking forwards such as Lohmann and Morris, where as we’re on absolute struggle street with respect to our forward line. There’s a number of optimistic posters on this forum, and they every right to be optimistic, but I’m a bit concerned that next Friday night is going to be a black night for the club given the opposition and venue we’re facing.
  15. Any truth to the rumour that GWS offered Greene as steak knives in the Tyson-pick 2 swap in 2013, but Roos said “thanks but no thanks”
  16. Agreed. Carltons pressure was at a season high 200 last night. Our’s was a season low of 162 last week vs the Pies, despite getting humiliated the week before vs Freo. Spot the team that wants success more this year. We either can’t or won’t apply the minimum standard of pressure of late. North will make some hideous mistakes tonight which we need to punish on the turnover. However if their pressure far exceeds ours, they’ll beat us tonight. We can’t handle pressure.
  17. Awesome - I’ll take a win and some heart palpitations along the way. That would be the third time we’ve beaten North by 4 points this century for the footy nerds playing at home.
  18. I think it’s more like 4. And two of them are against the Dogs and Hawthorn who aren’t exactly mug sides.
  19. That’s one concern I don’t think you’ll need to worry about.
  20. Chris Scott giving about 13 years worth of credit to the opposition in his post game presser. Never heard him so complimentary.
  21. Could be in the 8 by the end of the road if we can jag a 5 goal win tomorrow night. Wasn’t budgeting for Geelong to get pumped by this much.
  22. Thanks for putting that together. Makes you re-assess on where we are as a club at the moment, and whether we are actually still in the window. The media are always quick with this line "I can't believe where Melbourne are at the moment given their extremely talented list". The outs emphatically outweigh the ins, although in fairness Trac and Lever would make our side miles better on paper, and JVR is a very good in, while McVee and Windsor have high end potential for the now and the future.
  23. I have no interest in Petty being dropped and wasting a talented player kicking off the dew at Casey. However, I can't work why we're not playing him as a defender. A position where he clearly has more runs on the board at. Isn't the art of coaching is to get the best out of your players and play your players in positions they'll best excel at? Well, Goodwin sure as heck isn't getting the best out of a number players this year (ANB and T Mac a clear exception this year). And why isn't Langdon being played predominantly on the wing? The position where he was talked about as an All Australian in 2021, and a position where his elite running helped out the defence one minute and then kicking clutch goals the next. What benefit are we getting from him being a forward where he's kicked 0 goals in the last 5 weeks? And correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he playing wing during our solid 4-1 start to the season?
  24. Not saying Laurie is the answer, but it’s stiff that he gets so little opportunity to cement a place in the side, when you have players such as our regular small forward that’s not kicking goals nor laying tackles (0 goals and 4 tackles in the last 2 games), but appears irreplaceable.
