That seems logical given the need for Woewodin to get some much needed game time. He's averaged 14% of game time this year in the seniors. Unlike others, I'm not against a debutant starting as sub. Whatever works best for the team and I'd imagine Kolt would rather start as the sub on the big Thursday night stage as opposed to playing a full game at Port Melbourne on the weekend. -

Highly recommend going over if you enjoy seeing a couple of neutral games in addition to the Melbourne game. The city has a great vibe and everyone’s in a happy mood and having a ball (except for a couple of Collingwood ferals who were picking verbal fights with Hawks supporters outside the AO post game) I would suggest seeing the Saturday Adelaide Oval double header as the break between games is quite short. Norwood and Mt Barker have the novelty factor about them as it’s hard to fathom they’re actually playing genuine games at these venues. But I hope we never play at Norwood as the viewing is sub par.

This win really stacks up the more you think about it. I get that statistically we perhaps shouldn’t have won, but stats don’t account for the last quarter’s tenacity, determination and nailing the clutch moments that we did. I would be surprised if Port lose more than 2 games at AO this year.

I agree it was bitterly disappointing that we blew that final and it leaves a more bitter taste than the Collingwood final who were the better team on the night aside from the last quarter. However, Carlton lead for much of the second and third quarters so it’s not as if they came from the clouds to win the game, and they handled the final two minutes far better than we did. Will unfortunately hold them in good stead for future close finals in front of a packed MCG.

Too greedy to ask for a Suns win today? They received a lot of hype after their first 2 games, but in reality they were against mediocre opponents at home and they probably would’ve won them under Dew regardless. Big test for them today after a failure at Ballarat.

I’m not sure of the rule but IMO the dissent free kick should’ve taken place in the centre square.

Was at the game sitting in that forward pocket and it was so clearly touched. Everyone in the crowd couldn’t believe the mark was paid.

Let them have their luck in the early rounds. They’re my tip for the flag but they’re luck isn’t going to last for 26 weeks.

Yep. Good call about Walsh. Absolute gun. He got them over the line against us last year.

Freo are about 13% higher than us right now. I suspect they stay ahead of us if they get the “W” in a low scoring affair. Pretty good effort on their behalf.

I must be on my own on this forum as there’s plenty of other posters who don’t rate Carlton. I seriously rate Carlton and have them in the current top 3 seedings. They have every position covered with star material all over the place. It starts with their “Steve May” (Weitering) down back and ends with the two best key fwds in the league. Unfortunately they also showed that they could handle the big MCG finals moments which will hold them in good stead in September. (Hope I’m wrong and they cop a loss today)

Carlton shooting for their first ever Adelaide Oval win. Meanwhile we’ve just cracked 12 wins. Collingwood supporters and the media claiming they have the best NON SA team record, but I reckon 12 wins is better than 8.

Agreed. He so often lights a spark when we don’t have the momentum. For example against Brisbane in our miracle comeback, he kicked our first goal of the quarter which started out revival to victory. I’d imagine Woewodin will get a start next week and Laurie comes in as sub. On a random side note, we won’t play a game in Melbourne on a weekend for the entire month of April. Would’ve been nice if the AFL could’ve given us 9 day break and play this game on a Saturday night after a brutal 5 day break.
