  1. His second goal of the night was a clinker as well.
  2. Coaches votes came out today and one of the coaches couldn't even give an MFC player 1 vote despite losing by just 2 points. The other coach gave Oliver 1 vote. And I kind of agree. You couldn't confidently say that an MFC player was in the best 5 players on the ground.
  3. I reckon the club might lobby for some Sunday 1:10 games next year, purely from a crowd rather than TV exposure point of view. It's the most family friendly timeslot and you can be home before dinner and prepare yourself for the working and school week ahead. 44,000 against the Dogs and 32,000 against West Coast which incidentally was our second biggest crowd at the MCG against WCE suggests that the MCC faithful are responsive to this 1:10pm timeslot. Compare that to the paltry mid-high 20K we got to both North Melbourne Saturday night games in 2023 and 2024. Saturday 4:40pm games are also becoming the next big thing.
  4. Even if were to somehow beat the hottest team in the league on Friday, I can't see how we would then back it up the following 3 weeks. 2024 has been the year of inconsistency for the Dees as our form varies from week to week and even quarter to quarter. The GWS loss summed up our season well I reckon.
  5. I have a feeling we'll be having the same discussion after the Port game in 2 weeks.
  6. It was also mentioned on Fox Footy's "the Tackle" that we were looking at bringing Hunter for the sole reason of playing his 200th against his old side. I don't expect it to happen, but also wouldn't be shocked if it did. In his one full AFL game this year he was actually pretty decent.
  7. Yep that's a good point. We're probably projected now to finish 12th-13th which will mean far less Thursday and Saturday night games in the first 15 rounds of next year compared to this year. There will be more Sunday 1:10 games and maybe even some Saturday arvo's of which we had none of this year.
  8. I wouldnโ€™t be shocked if Hunter comes back into the side to play his 200th against the Dogs. Direct replacement for Billings who once again did next to nothing. We owe nothing to Hunter, and he wonโ€™t be with us next year, but I think itโ€™s fair that we get him to 200 before he retires.
  9. Dogs have a 5 day break into this one which is handy I guess. Have we played a team off a 5 day break this year? As in the oppo, not us?
  10. Proud of our comeback. To go from 27 points down with 10 mins left, to game on in the last minute shows some good character. The effort and pressure was overall good tonight and I hope we play the role of spoiler for the rest of the year, starting with the Dogs on Friday night, who themselves have a 5 day break.
  11. Not specifically having a go at Goodwin, but whatโ€™s the upside in not having your premier defender in May on their premier forward in Hogan?
  12. Should the sub rule be removed for next year, the biggest beneficiary of all AFL coaches will be the one and only Simon Goodwin. Heโ€™s a brilliant coach but canโ€™t utilise the sub rule to save himself. Goodwin directly cost us the Carlton final last year due to his mismanagement of team selection, specifically not utilising a sub at his disposal on a warm night when we had no injuries.
  13. Thats how GWS are winning their games. On efficiency, less scoring shorts and Jesse Hogan. Not sure itโ€™s sustainable in finals.
  14. We got 20,000 in round 5 2022 against GWS. A Saturday night game after a 28 degree day. The most perfect night for footy coming off a flag. It would actually be a surprise if we got 20k tonight.
  15. I can see why we want him. Last night wasnโ€™t his best but how good were two or three of his passes going inside 50. Weights the ball beautifully for his forwards.
  16. If Port winning is not a disaster, itโ€™s by far not a good result for us. If Carlton held or built on their 5 goal lead and we won by a few goals tonight, then guess who replaces Port in the 8?
  17. Terrible result for us. Itโ€™s probably only Essendon that are looking vulnerable to miss the 8, and thus only 1 team we could replace. (although GWS could be in trouble if we were to beat them)
  18. Jayden Hunt would be in our back 7 each week. Having a far better season than Salem and Bowey.
  19. @WalkingCivilWar would you kindly mention how Max trained this morning, assuming he trained on site?
  20. They certainly are doing something right in the accuracy department but they can't rely on kicking 16.6 in each final and expect to win a flag. They could very well continue their supreme accuracy on Saturday night but law of averages suggest it won't last much longer.
  21. My requests: Carlton to beat Port. North to beat Geelong Brisbane to beat GC St Kilda to beat Essendon WC to beat Freo Richmond to beat Collingwood Sydney to beat Dog Adelaide to beat Hawthorn I expect just 3 of those to salute.
  22. The Tackle on Fox Footy last night.
  23. Lachie Hunter rumoured to come back in next week to play his 200th against his old mob.
  24. Heโ€™s expected to command two first rounders which is pricey. But in a vacuum, heโ€™d be an excellent acquisition, and we have Brayshaw cap money to spend.
  25. Is is just me or Bowey's late 2021 AFL games better than what he's produced in subsequent years. He was a joy to watch in that period. BBB playing a big role post round 16 2021 was worth the price of admission alone. Can't really complain about his subsequent years.
