  1. Whilst the leak is a negative, isn't it a positive that MFC supporters can say farewell/thank you to ANB in the final Collingwood game, as opposed to this news being kept secret and the fans finding out about the move in trade week?
  2. Just another 10 coaches vote in the win over Brisbane last weekend. In rare form.
  3. I'd choose option 2 if I thought our fitness could get us through the last quarter and subsequently win a low scoring arm wrestle. Our fitness (or lack thereof) clearly won't allow this. I suspect option 2 will eventuate regardless but the Suns will run all over us in the last quarter as we'll tire in the heat. Goodwin might need to look at option 1 over summer provided we have the personnel to execute that type of attacking game plan.
  4. With Farmer and LJ we all expected them to leave but it wasn't confirmed like ANB's departure. But your point stands that people suspected Spalding, Farmer and Jackson were all leaving.
  5. Really disappointed like most on here. Not for the first time during last Saturday night's game I was reflecting on how much of an accomplished and competent player ANB's become. One of those players that genuinely improves year on year. Port or Adelaide are getting a very good ready to go player next year. I can't recall a final round game where club supporters will be able to say good bye to their player with the knowledge that they will be playing for another club rather than retirement.
  6. When 15 people were still in rehab as late as February.
  7. Did he have a Barry Crocker against us? 16 possessions and 1 goal doesn't look disastrous on paper for a grand final.
  8. Will May be back this week? Apparently was looking ok at training late last week, albeit no contact.
  9. Thats a fair point. MFC Players would be really disappointed that low market VIC clubs like Dogs, North and St Kilda get brand spanking new facilities and full time venues as opposed to our less than desirable situation. On Roffey, I thought she showed good leadership in 2021 when she allegedly sacrificed her spot in the WA hub in replacement for someone else. However the AFL stepped in and required her to head over. Whether that’s or true or not I’m not sure but I do recall the story at the time.
  10. I think the critics of her for not communicating with the members are way off. We heard heaps from her after the grand final to the MCG premiership celebration through to the pre game festivities of round 1 2022.
  11. Any chance Peter Jackson’s available to sort this current mess out?
  12. Repeat of the 2022 GF? With respect to us, I'd imagine the club won't be pouring all its energies into climbing from 13th to 11th/12th due to the three group fixture structure (1-6, 7-12, 13-18)
  13. That is an incredible effort despite his ankle issue. Probably puts to bed people's request to put him on ice the last two games.
  14. Agreed. We'd actually get more from Laurie than the Oliver version of the Port game. If he does get selected, I expect Clarrie to play well. He hasn't played many good games this year, but the good ones have followed the games where he's copped it from the media.
  15. Aside from the GABBA game in round 16, our form away from the MCG has been deplorable since the ™Business Trip. Most of the angst this year has arisen from the Perth/Optus games and the Dogs Marvel game. Most of our MCG games have been pretty darn decent. I expect us to be flat for this one but then give it a red hot crack for Collingwood.
  16. Deserves a farewell for his 2021 efforts. But it should be the Collingwood game in front of the fans. Do we owe Hunter a 200th game? I suspect I know the answer.
  17. Tomlinson should get dropped for breaking a team rule in the third quarter. He took a mark in the centre of the ground, took on his opponent, recorded a quick inside 50 entry thereby causing a bit of stress on the Port defence.
  18. Billings miss was no harder. But yeah, 80% of AFL players make that shot.
  19. Whenever he plays us: He plays like the second coming of Polly Farmer when he rucks and the second coming of Wayne Carey when he plays forward.
  20. I’d be more than delighted if we played a home game at Marvel instead of Alice Springs.
  21. BT just mentioned that the crowd number at Marvel is impressive. Does he realise half the top level is closed and the other half isn’t even full? Woudn’t be much more than our 17K of last night.
  22. Isn’t that exactly what we need in this club? Our skill level is a disgrace all over the field and a major reason why we lost last night. We need help in this area. Oh, and he got in the best players on the AFL website’s match report for probably the 20th time this year. I’m not advocating trading pick 6 alone for him and I suspect the club won’t either, therefore he’ll probably go elsewhere or stay at Port. But you seem to be denigrating a player who is quite frankly more skillful than any MFC player on display.
  23. Clearly our second best loss of the year behind the Brisbane Gabba game. If you told me before the game we would be leading for over 60% of the game I would have well and truly taken that. I thought we’d put the cue in the rack during the Dogs game, so the response was appreciated. We need to ensure everyone is available for day 1 pre season, which is what derailed our 2024 season. If that means surgery now then do it. If Gawn doesn’t need surgery then keep him in the side as he’s keeping us afloat. We’d be stuffed without him. We also need to heavily practice last 2 minute scenarios over summer like Collingwood have done in the past, when we’re behind and trying to take the win away from the oppo. We’ve had plenty of practice with 4 or 5 close losses this year but haven’t nailed one aside from the North game, but we were in front. Really disappointing that with about 1:12 left on the clock, JHF marks the ball in his defensive 50 and Port manage to nurse the ball down to their forward pocket by games end without us realistically getting near it.
  24. A lot of Melbourne supporters will embrace those time slots next year.
