  1. Enjoyed the win like everyone else. Positive signs and we looked fit which was most pleasing (aside from Petracca’s outrageous performance!) Just a little mindful though that Sloane and Laird didn’t play the second half and Gibbs missed the last qtr.
  2. Harmes had a full game at half back vs North last year (rd 23) and played well I thought. I think he starts there, particularly given Brayshaw needs to come back in to the midfield.
  3. Apart from Walker, Smith, Knight and Seedsman are they missing anyone else? Sounds pretty even in the ‘missing’ list. I would be disappointed if we can’t beat an inexperienced Adelaide.
  4. Disappointing to be 9 points down at half time down against a very inexperienced Adelaide. Having said that, late in the second quarter we had Weid, Jackson and Sparrow in the centre vs Sloane, B Crouch and their starting ruck in O’Brien. So it’s full on experimentation mode.
  5. T Mac, Jackson and Melksham starting deep fwd
  6. Be interesting to see how Melksham and Frisch go up forward with the support of T Mac, Weid and Brown as opposed to being the number 1 and 2 forward’s - per the last month of last year. Both teams probably have about the same quality and quantity out so would be hoping for a win. We need to get back in that winning frame of mind - for the players and supporters.
  7. Very generous and magnanimous assessment of our 2019 season.
  8. The Jakovich show! Must have been a memorable day for a Dee supporter. We never had any many issues beating them at Moorabbin in the late 80/early 90s. It was at the G the kept beating us (1989, 90, 91 through to 99)
  9. No club and it’s supporters celebrate a pre season win like the Saints. Remember the players got canned for singing the song after beating North last year at Werribee.
  10. I could be wrong but I think Jones only had small stint in rehab whilst Spargo probably spent until late January in rehab. So yes, a surprise that Spargo got named, but Jones should be fit, firing and ready to go. Hunt and Hore will probably get a game V's North next week, but it probably indicates that they're very borderline for a round 1 gig.
  11. Taking my MFC hat for a second, I Thought Frost was good after quarter time. Certainly did more good than bad.
  12. Probably helps that Gil barracks for them.
  13. Would like to see Sam Weideman absolutely rip a game apart, so why not start on Saturday? Top 10 draft pick into his fifth year. I know he's only played 31 games out of a possible 91 but I want to see a consistent season of 20 games and 30 goals as he approaches hiss 50 games milestone. Looking for big things from him on Saturday.
  14. They got 60K to both of their 2018 finals.
  15. Lucky boy. Hopefully you'll get the round 22 2018 experience as opposed to the 2018 prelim version.
  16. Pert strongly hinted May will miss round 1, on SEN yesterday. The other 1 or 2 might be Petty, AVB, and Hannan. Preuss is an obvious out but I don't think he would've been selected in a 32 degree day anyway. Hopefully T Mac is right to go for round 1. He IS our most important player in the side as demonstrated by us going 0-7 in his absence, and the sole reason we beat Carlton last year. It's critical they manage him correctly through to round 1.
  17. Yes. 4:40pm on Fox Footy.
  18. Just my opinion but I think he survives if we win as little as 9 or 10 games and finish as low as 13th. Sadly, it's an improvement on 2019 and he'll still have 2 years left on his contract.
  19. Yes you are spot on. A loss to Geelong in 2005.
  20. I agree with Lloyd Chistmas above, It would mean so much if we can get a win on Saturday. Sounds like Adelaide are near full strength while we'll have as many as 9 missing from our potential best 22 if we go ultra conservative.
  21. A lot of people liken Melbourne's 2019 to Richmond of 2016 and Geelong of 2006. I reckon we were nothing like either of those sides. Richmond won 8 games and beat the sides they were supposed to beat below them, and had a win over a grand finalist in Sydney. They disgraced themselves in the final round, but 8 wins is a ton better than 5. Geelong won 10.5 games had a percentage of 100, thrashed bottom teams, and beat 4 top eight sides that year. We on the other hand won a lousy 5 games, and none of those wins we were convincing aside from perhaps the Sydney win. On a side note, we haven't played finals in an odd year since 1991.
  22. So Jade Gresham's (0 All Australians and 0 B&F's) a better player than All Australian and 2 time best and fairest winner Clayton Oliver. Seems logical.
  23. They're simply practice matches with a naming right and are televised on Foxtel. Certainly no trophy involved.
  24. Oliver didn't even get selected for the VIC's?? Or am I overrating Oliver?
