We we desperate for him on draft night but Port got in first, so we picked Rivers with our 3rd pick in 2019. Rivers will be good, but geez he would've been sensational for us.
-
Yeah I have a gut feel Fritsch will miss this week. We need 22 blokes that are 100% ready to go against the best in the business.
-
Agreed. Reckon Jordon will be the sub this week while Sparrow goes from sub to a full game for Casey. Then Jordon or Sparrow replaces Jones the following week if Jones struggles to impact this weekend. Weid for M Brown (may have been his last MFC game) May for Petty Fritsch for Jordon (pending Fritta's injury. If not, Jordon stays) Jetta for Sparrow - in terms of sub. If Weid and Fritta both come in, we lose a midfield rotation in Jordon. Not sure if that's ideal. or not.
-
Be disappointed if Weid gets a game while Fritsch kicks off the dew at Punt Road.
-
Correct. Round 5 2016. The last time we beat Richmond.
-
Welcome to 2019. Except we're still winning despite the opposition's accuracy. The amount of games we lost that year because of the opposition's insane accuracy... The two West Coast losses come to mind.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Bulldogs
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Amazing prediction by you. I thought we'd be 2-4 after that horrid showing against the Dogs. I'm hoping we weren't taking that game seriously as opposed to losing badly just because we were missing Oliver and Salem. -
They were insufferable after they beat us in the 2017 ANZAC eve game - before they won their flags. Their arrogance over on Bigfooty that night was horrid. Even after we we had 1 fit bloke on the bench and had to ruck Watts for most of the night.

I remember watching this game on a Monday night during a strict lockdown with an 8pm curfew and Dwayne Russell commentating. Living the dream....

Lever was interviewed on 3aw last night and he mentioned that his eye is going well and he just needs to pass the concussion protocols, and Lever said that he's going well in that regard. I expect May to play.
-
This. No way Melksham gets dropped and I think Jordon will be the unlucky one. For such a big game against a team built for the big occasion, you pick a 188 gamer who impacts the scoreboard by way of goals or goal assists over a 5 gamer. Is it absolutely necessary for Weid to come back? His return will mean someone will be awfully stiff to be omitted.

Be interesting to see if the AFL members sells out.
-
Nice to see they've actually opened the top level of the Southern Stand for our game this weekend.
-
May just has to pass some concussion tests and he’ll be playing according to Lever on 3aw tonight. His eye is coming along well.
-
If Fritsch is ready, he's absolutely in regardless of Mitch Brown, Ben Brown, Weideman or Jones' s 300th. If Fritta gets up: IN - Fritsch, Weid, May Out - Petty, M Brown, Jordon (stiff), Sparrow. In reality you'd omit Jones and keep Jordon but we all know that's not happening. I wonder if Weid is a 100% lock? Ben Brown certainly won't play.

An assignment for another time. I suspect 15 gets it done. We won 14 in 2018 and finished 5th, but would've finished 3rd had we just won one more game because of our excellent percentage.
-
Yeah I recall in 1994 we hit the skids in May and June and even lost to Sydney at the G who were terrible at the time. Collingwood started 5-0 in 2000 and won just two games for the rest of the year.
-
They could go the cop out option and play him as sub. He technically suits up for a game of footy and earns his 300th without actually playing. Chandler was the round 1 sub and the records show that he earned his second career game that day. But he’ll be playing next week and if you listened to Lever in the post game, the players are absolutely pumped to share in his 300th on a big occasion that is Anzac Eve.
-
I’m not against dropping Jones for next week as he was a liability today against a poor side. But no way do you bring him back the week after to celebrate his big milestone at a wind swept grave yard in front of 6,000 people. If you listened to Lever post game, he and his team mates are absolutely pumped for Jones’s 300th next week, so that’s good enough for me. I think Weid to replace Mitch Brown. The club has an obligation to play him after 7 goals in the VFL but Weid also has an obligation to step up next week in his 6th season as a top 10 draft pick. May for Petty. Goodwin suggested that Fritta has a bunch of hurdles to jump to play next week, so he might just miss the boat. BBB to debut against North.

Goody sounded more confident on May than Fritsch.

CASEY DEMONS: Rd 01 vs Box Hill Hawks
Bring-Back-Powell replied to kieranbj's topic in Melbourne Demons
And a ripper set shot around the body after the siren. -
Clearly you have a good dose of MFCSS like most of us. If the big 3 in Gawn, Trac and Oliver have big games, we’ll win this.
-
I know it’s early days but a win isn’t crucial for our top 8 aspirations but it is if we’re any hope of making top 4. Can’t afford to look back at the end of year and rue losses against bottom 6 teams.

This post did not age well.

Since the comp became 18 teams: 2012 - 14 wins without percentage 2013- 12 wins without percentage. I’m not factoring in Carlton’s 11 wins default entry 2014 - 12 without percentage 2015 - 13 without percentage 2016 - 12 with percentage 2017 - 12 with percentage (the year we missed out on percentage) 2018 - 13 without percentage 2019 - 12 without percentage 2020 - I don’t consider this a proper season of footy. So in conclusion, 12 with a good percentage of 13 to be absolutely safe.
