  1. 25-29 would be the sweet spot as a general rule, I would’ve thought.
  2. Hopefully they’ll remember to play the song in 10 months.
  3. Won’t be back till after Xmas because of the borders.
  4. Judging by the feedback in this thread, this game doesn’t get more than 45K if it’s on a Wednesday night. Our opponents are not a high drawing side. We couldn’t get even get high 50’s to Anzac eve on a Saturday night this year despite an 85% available capacity. I’ll happily go to the game regardless but I think the AFL are getting too cute with Wednesday night scheduling and Pert should be going into bat for our loyal members who would collectively much prefer a Friday night game.
  5. We opened the season in 2000 against Richmond on a Wednesday night. That was a period when the AFL went a bit off the rails and experimented with mid week games.
  6. Wednesday night footy at the G with crowds still beats watching a grand final on TV stuck in lockdown.
  7. Sparrow came a very long way since the Collingwood game.
  8. Van Rooyen suggested he’ll be training with Jackson through to Xmas in Perth. At least that’s what I thought I heard??
  9. Am I correct in assuming Luke Jackson won’t be in attendance.
  10. I'm tipping 28.5K for the game.
  11. Excellent re-signing. I remember at the end of last season he remained un-signed and I was worried we were going to lose him as he'd had a wayward season in front of goal, he'd been dropped for sleeping in whilst in the hub and then there was the famous axing after the 2018 semi final. He could've been forgiven for wanting a fresh start I guess. Fast forward a year later and he's kicked 6 snags in a GF, almost kicked 60 for the season and he's now going to be a key part of our next 5 years. Well done to both parties.
  12. Hopefully you're right. Richmond dedicated 2021 to winning the flag for its VIC members that missed out on attending the 2020 GF in Brisbane - and look how that turned out (admittedly they'd already won 2 flags at the G in 2017 and 19). I know it's only a 1 per center but I reckon the fact the the group had to end its partying in Perth by the Wednesday after the GF (as half of them returned to locked down Melbourne) may end being a good thing down the track. They could've been excused for partying for a solid month and then return to the club with an extra player's worth of skinfold across the playing group, like Hawthorn did in 2008 into 2009. I'm hoping there's some unfinished business with this group and they can snag another flag in either in 2022 or 2023.
  13. Just had a dream last night that the entire AFL moved to WA and SA from round 18 2022 due to COVID on the COVID Eastern sea board We made the GF which was transferred to Adelaide Oval. Happy Friday everyone.
  14. I'm ashamed to admit I've watched the replay of the GF once.
  15. Hopefully just to see us play Fremantle in a round 23 friendly before we embark on 3 MCG home game finals.
  16. Leave Basil alone. He had a very busy week. He was just too exhausted after trying to organise the 1 minute of recognition during the second quarter for all of us that couldn't make it. A true hero in my eyes. I hope we return the favour in next year's GF when we stand and clap for the West Aussies that couldn't make it over.
  17. Loved the performance. Loved the season. Loved the fact that we’re the premiers and all the associated benefits that come along with it. Disappointing that many us weren’t able to see it, and just hope we’ve got another one in us over the coming 1-5 years.
  18. Played a really good game against Adelaide. Better than what I thought he was capable of. Played on Charlie Cameron who kicked 5, which doesn’t make for good reading. Clearly outclassed that night. Handy back up if May, Lever or Petty miss a game down back. Or perhaps a replacement for Hibberd when he finishes?
  19. I found attending that 2015 Geelong game live was just as satisfying as watching our round 23 game in lock down, even though there was far less at stake. One of our great wins of the 2010-2019 decade.
  20. Injuries and a lack of hunger could be our downfall. I want to win a flag in 2022 more than I did this time last year for the 2021 season, which is bizarre considering we've reached Mt Everest and you could be entitled for being more relaxed the following year. Hopefully the players feel the same. (I would imagine winning a flag at the G is a massive carrot to dangle in front of the players) I know this sounds silly but beware sides such as Essendon, St Kilda and Carlton. Both clubs are paying $26 odd for the flag and I'm pretty sure premiers such as Melbourne, Bulldogs and West Coast were paying about that amount in the pre season when they won their flags. Can see a lot of improvement in Essendon or Carlton. St Kilda less so, but they had a tough run with injury and still came 10th.
  21. Unless Fritsch has peaked after year 4 and goes backwards from now on, I would be amazed if Fritta doesn't go down as the best player to ever wear the #31 since Barassi. A 59 goal season headlined by a 6 goal haul in a GF win has him in pole position from the list mentioned by the OP. Grimes looked like he was going to be an absolute beauty circa 2009/2010. Not sure if it was injuries, the burden of being captain at 22 or if he quite frankly wasn't that good of a player??
  22. Petty played 19 games in 2021, for the record. The draft experts at the time suggested we were getting a gem in Petty. Given the 30 game sample on offer, it’s hard to argue. He should be a fine and very dependable defender for the Dees when he’s up to the 100 game mark. The big question is does Tomlinson replace Petty next year as that 3rd defender who plays on the talls? If yes, then Petty might have to contend with T Mac for a key fwd role. If no, then Tomlinson may have to reinvent himself as a winger which he wasn’t good at in early 2020, or play for Casey. Good problems to have.
  23. Sylvia played 2 or 3 games that were up there with the best of what Petracca and Oliver are capable of. A game against Hawthorn in 2009 comes to mind.
  24. Good news. Do the experts around here reckon he’s any good?
  25. Feels like this guy's been around forever. I can recall him playing against us at the G one day, way back when Dean Bailey was coaching us. I'd take him for minimum chips, but he strikes me as someone who would demand a bit of kanga despite getting delisted.
