Which MFC player have you met personally?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah I had a chat to Wheatley once at a 21st birthday party. He’s a very pleasant and down to earth fella. -
Restrictions are looming. Can anyone foresee the possibility of the 25K travel limit coming in but still letting people attend this weekend's footy, provided they don't travel more than 25K.

Fantastic list Supermercado. Martin Heppell could be added to the list I reckon. (apologies if he already is there) Former St Kilda player that crossed to the Dees in 1995 and played against the Dogs at Optus Oval and West Coast at the WACA in rounds 4 and 5 of 1995. Alas we lost both games. https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/M/Martin_Heppell.html

Please no. I'd sooner tank the season than hub interstate again.

OPPOSITION WATCH: What They're Saying at Waverley Park
Bring-Back-Powell replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
On SEN this morning, Kennett got on the blower this morning to wish the MFC luck for this year and hope we win the flag. I suddenly don't mind Hawthorn supporters.- 68 replies

FIXTURE: Rd 19 vs Gold Coast & Rd 20 vs Bulldogs

What do you hate about them? I'm not a fan of watching the Dees play on Thursday but more than happy to watch another game on a Thursday night. -

Heard a rumour that there will be no Thursday night games until week 1 finals. Judging by this fixture, I think that might be true. -
Agreed. Suns have been good the past fortnight and a win over the Dogs isn't out of the question, if indeed the Dogs are having their obligatory slump. Hopefully when we play GC it will be a repeat of the Essendon win where we showed the opposition just enough respect to get the job done. It's the Hawthorn type game this weekend where we've had all sorts of problems this year.
-
Agree with all that. The narrative coming out post Anzac eve on the Richmond Bigfooty forum was "Can't wait to play Melbourne in the finals. We'll beat them when the games actually count" and "Kozzie Pickett's got a target on his back in the first qualifying final" I can only hope our supporters won't be as arrogant as Richmonds once we complete our 4peat.

Once again. A horrible winter's day expected and yet they close off the level of the Southern stand that has all the undercover seating.

Pretty consistent with other people’s interactions with Garry Lyon that you read about online. -

Bumped into Clayton's Oliver's Mother while waiting around for an interstate game to start in 2018. If he's anything like his Mum, then I'd imagine Clarry would be a ripping nice bloke. -
I agree with all that. In previous years, there's no way known a team that's well and truly in contention such as MFC would be sent up to Darwin. Did you ever see dynasty sides such as Hawthorn or Geelong being sent there. Admittedly Richmond got sent up there last year for Dream Time but that was directly resulting from COVID hubs. That's what leads me to think that both clubs, the AFL and the NT have formalised a deal so that both GC and Melbourne will receive a shared payment for the game as compensation for their respective lost games in June. I just can't fathom a strong CEO such as Pert accepting this massive imposition without some sort of financial compensation.
-
No, Tom Morris didn't say we've requested the Saturday night game. But I'd imagine we'd have requested the Sat night game to avoid the 6 day break. Would be keen to get a comment from Pert to see if this was a joint venture from both clubs or if the AFL said to Melbourne "too bad Melbourne, GC get all the money and we had to fixture an away side"
-
I mean that neither Watts or Jamarra are anywhere near being ready based on their respective debut games. (Now watch him kick 3 last qtr goals to get his team over the line)
-
There’s a whiff of Jack Watts circa 2009 debut about young Jamarra today.
-
No masks required at seats. Syndey dominating uncontested disposal and marks which is a good recipe for winning a game.
-
Sydney having a dip here at Marvel. Played an impressive 1st qtr and are capable of winning this. Being at the venue, the roof should always be open on overcast mild days like today. I don’t agree with the 100% roof closed policy.
-
St Kilda could do a Geelong of 1993. End the season as the hottest team in the league and just finish outside the finals.
-
Gerard Healy’s just joined the fun. He just called the Freo Dockers the “Dogs”
-
I should be confident of a regulation 6 goal win against Hawthorn next week, but I’m not. They’ve been completely out classed by a middle of the road Freo.
-
That’s absolutely not confirmed that we’ll making a quid out of this game. Hopefully Pert will clarify during the week. Its poor form to swap the fixture given people have known for 7 months that this game was supposed to be on the GC, and people have made their travel plans accordingly.
-
Tom Morris in the half time segment hinted that we might make a bit of money out of it, but didn’t sound convincing. The more I think about, surely this is a joint GC and Melbourne initiative. I just can’t see us agreeing to play in Darwin if GC are pocketing all the cash and our travel and recovery plans are being significantly altered. Pert seemed a bit distressed about the loss of revenue in a recent video, so perhaps this is his way of recouping some revenue. Furthermore we’ve then requested to play the Dogs on the following Saturday night??

Special comments by Nick Dal Santo in this afternoons game: “Koschitzke (Hawthorn forward) kicked 5 goals earlier in the year against the Hawks”
