  1. You’d imagine mid 60’s for this one. The combination of the novelty of attending Melbourne’s first MCG final in 4 years inflated Friday’s crowd, Brisbane having less supporters than Sydney and the fact that we lost should see a reduced crowd this week.
  2. Spot on. It won’t happen but it should. Why is Jackson taking valuable ruck minutes off the best ruck in the AFL?
  3. There’s absolutely nothing surer than Collingwood beating Freo next week in front of 74,000/75,000 ferals.
  4. You’re entitled to your opinion of course, but how can the best team in it have a 0-5 record against the top 4 sides? Last September I would’ve agreed with you. This year we’ve been too inconsistent in the second half of the year, which is the half you want your game in order.
  5. Until we win a game against a top 4 side, I suspect Melbourne supporters will be twiddling their thumbs on 24 Sep. Friday night was a chance to atone our record against one of our bogey sides (Collingwood being the other) and put in a rare excellent MCG performance. We once again failed.
  6. Haden Young > Luke Jackson
  7. Jon Ralph with the captain obvious fixture bombshell: Geelong to host the Friday night prelim….against hopefully us.
  8. This is got a stench of 2018 Optus Stadium prelim about it.
  9. Collingwood’s most compressive loss of the year was against Bulldogs.
  10. Dogs 2016 finals campaign : Perth - MCG - Sydney - MCG Doge 2022 finals campaign: Perth - MCG - Sydney - MCG History surely not repeating.
  11. Pies won’t be going out in straight sets if today was any indication. Think they’ll easily account for Dogs or Freo with an 80-20/90-10 crowd ratio in their favour.
  12. Fine line between pleasure and pain for Collingwood Win tonight and they’d fancy beating Brisbane or Melbourne in a prelim. But now they face the boobie prize - Sydney at the SCG.
  13. I wish our defensive pressure was as intense as Collingwoods (and Sydney)
  14. Who’s looking forward to another round of “Collingwood” and “USA” chants in the prelim if we progress that far?
  15. Should be dropped for Weideman next week. Jackson is stealing valuable ruck minutes off the best ruckman in the league and you’d back Weid over Jackson as a mostly stay at home forward.
  16. I know it won’t happen but: In - Weideman, Out - Jackson Why? Gawn to play 80% of the game as a ruckman because he’s the best ruckman in the league and should be played there accordingly every week. Weideman to replace Jackson as Jackson has next to zero forward craft and I don’t want him playing down there 80% of the game and clunking 1 mark if he’s lucky. Weid’s obviously a forward by trade and has a history of playing well in his return games.
  17. I thought the Sydney supporters were relatively tame in their celebrations as if they expected to win and have their eyes firmly on the big prize. Compare that to Collingwood supporters who would’ve celebrated last night as if they’d won their 5th flag in a row.
  18. Sucks that most of us missed the game.
  19. Highest placed QF gets the Friday night prelim. If Collingwood somehow beat Geelong, Sydney get the Friday night prelim and we’d potentially play Collingwood on the Saturday twilight or night slot.
  20. So if Geelong win tomorrow and we beat Brisbane, it will be 3 Friday night finals in a row.
  21. Hard to have confidence given we’re 0-5 against the top 4 sides. After week 1 finals last year we were 1-0 against Port, 2-0 against Geelong and 2-0 against Brisbane. They were the other top 4 sides of the 2021 season. Much like our atrocious MCG record against Sydney, short and long term history is against us. It’s looking like we’re a 4th-6th side this year.
  22. Very harsh mate. We wouldn’t have a flag without his 4 possession 1 free kick (against) third quarter in last years granny.
  23. Hawks somehow when to Perth twice in the 2015 finals and won the flag. Richmond lost their 2020 qual final. Pretty sure West Coast and Sydney lost their qualifying finals in 2006 and 2005 respectively.
  24. Particularly the latter of the two rucks you mentioned.
  25. No woulda, coulda, shoudlas about tonight mate. Beaten fair and square by a high quality side on an 8 game winning streak.
