Yeah but any team would be if they had their own hell-scape of a home ground and got to play there so frequently, and usually not against the powerhouse clubs. And with the unashamed backing of the media, the umpires and their many feral fans (an entire city’s worth).

Great points. Especially important is the narrowing of the gap between AFL and VFL which is currently a gulf. So you hear ppl say Player X is killing it in the VFL but at the same time they’re saying Player X is nowhere near ready to play AFL.

Sophie Locke - debuting for the Hawks, and their first goal kicker - was more emotional than expected during the week when told she’d be playing tonight. Reason being: her mum, who was a great supporter of hers in her quest to play in the AFLW, sadly passed away only two weeks ago after a long battle with cancer. For that reason, I hope the Hawks win this match. Oh and because I hate Essendon with an unholy passion… men, women, doesn’t matter, [censored] hate ‘em all

He’s been calling AFLW games for years, as well as VFL games, many times with Nigel Carmody. Their commentary is infinitely better than that of those other buffoons.

T-mac actually said that, Kev. During that interview in the last quarter the interviewer commented on how good our VFL players are, not the likes of Tomlinson etc. but the long term VFL players. T-mac sincerely praised them and said they could be playing country league footy for a lot more money but choose to remain in our VFL team. I too was surprised to hear that.
