(Hello Geelong twice) Viney always turns up in the big games and helped build the culture. Not near the best ever yet but they could give it a crack over the next few years. Jackson and Sparrow would walk into any other side's starting midfield but they have to wait and just rotate. Promising times.

The Oliver / Petracca combo is a great point. It's obvious because they both spend so much time in the midfield and centre bounces together but the chemistry between the two coming into their prime is why we won a premiership and why we are favourites again next year. We've all watched the GF replay plenty of times but the number of times Oliver gets it to Petracca or vice versa and the recipient does damage is incredible.

I need to start this post with a disclaimer. All players should be free to go out and do as they please within the legal framework of legal rules. I bumped into Dusty Martin at a restaurant last night and asked him how it feels to take a back seat to Oliver and Petracca as the best players in the league. I shouldn't have said it and I regret it. I want to be humble Melbourne supporter. Dusty wanted to punch my lights out but was too smart for that. I was amazed at how much weight he has lost. He would be more similar to Bailey Fritch than Petracca on the scales at the moment. If I had my time again I wouldn't have said anything. Thanks Dusty for being as diplomatic as one could be in a split second decision. Go Dees and I hope supporters show more diplomacy than me.

When we were hopeless we bought in players like Vince*, Lamumba and Dawes which would have increased our age profile. * I love Vince Players normally get to 100 games if they are good footballers. But some get there cheaply if they play for struggling clubs. What you really want is your best footballers at around 100 games and a culture to get the younger players heading towards it.
