  1. What about where we finished? We are clearly the best side in the comp
  2. We missed plenty of opportunities to win this one in the last quarter. Had plenty of the ball but didn't execute well. We'd only lose one more game for the year after that one too
  3. Who finished 5th, 16th, 8th and 2nd in 2021. Out defence is no where near full strength but is still making it real hard for teams to score.
  4. 6 Steven May 5 Max Gawn 4 James Jordon 3 James Harmes 2 Ed Langdon 1 Bayley Fritsch
  5. He said in an interview it was precautionary as sometimes his knee swells off short breaks ever since his acl injury in his first year with us. Nothing more than that which is pleasing to hear.
  6. Which is always the Langdon side of the ground
  7. The reason why we do this is because we are a highly skilled contested marking team and the best ground ball get team in the game by far (We are +23 better per game on average, the next best team is +8). The ball goes to a contest where we back ourselves to either; A) Take the mark B) Get the ground ball get Or worst case scenario's C) Force a ball up with a tackle if we lose the ground ball get D) Force the ball out of bounds for a throw in with a spoil We have the talent to win the contest and back ourselves to do it.
  8. First team to keep Port Adelaide Goal-less in a half of footy: Melbourne Round 4 2022
  9. Here are some I know of Most Consecutive Games Jim Stynes - 244 games Quickest Player to 50 goals Allen Jackovich - 9 games Most Premierships as a player and/or coach with just one club Norm Smith - 10 Premierships Four as a player/playing coach (1939-41 and 1948) and six as a non-playing coach (1955-57, 1959-60 and 64) Most Premierships as a player and/or coach Norm Smith - 10 Premierships Ron Barrassi - 10 Premierships Club with the most double rising star nominated players: Melbourne - 5 Nathan Jones (2006 and 2007) Jordan Gysberts (2010 and 2011) Sam Blease (2011 and 2012) Luke Jackson (2020 and 2021) Jake Bowey (2021 and 2022)
  10. I'm quoting you because you touch on every point I would also like to. I believe the reasoning for Brown not being in is because the team is travelling today to Adelaide. They like to fly the night before for interstate games and have a morning in the state to prepare for the game. Ben Brown would have to arrive at the game like an hour before the bounce, without training with the team for a week to play. That sort of preparation isn't ideal, and when you have talent like Tmac and Weid in the side why not let them play again. Smith is so unlucky! he's been so solid this year, but I don't mind the selection decision being forced here for Goodwin to bring Lever in. It's probably better mentally for Smith to take as a player as it is out of his control rather than form or a better player coming through. Which also means Tomlinson stays in. Tomlinson's fitness is a bonus, he's played 100% game time every game this year so that helps runners with extra rotations. I think Harmes, Bowey and Brayshaw will switch on the day for the bounce. Simon's probably toying with Ken with that.
  11. Couldn't help myself but go watch it again after seeing your comment, What an amazing goal! And for those of you playing at home, just hit the play button
  12. That would make me hate a player, not a team.
  13. "I suspect this Melbourne side would have given any of the sides; great Geelong side of 07-11, hawthorn of 13-15, Brisbane and port of 01-04" The bolded part made me laugh the most out of all the comments.
  14. Can you ask him what is something he has learned through coaching that he wished he knew as a player?
  15. Every team wants a rival. Every team and fan wants an opponent that instills a respected hatred. That's what a rivalry comes down to, hate and respect. The media even try to force rivalries down our throats rather than letting them form naturally. I don't hate or respect the bulldogs. They are not our rivals. I do the Cats and Swans. I don't hate the Lions, yet.
  16. Ah yeah fair shout. I'm not a huge gambler
  17. How are those two things anyway related?
  18. Wright had maybe a good 10 minute patch throughout a 2 hour game.
  19. I can add this to the things that don't bother me because we keep winning.
  20. Swapping May and Tmac during the 3rd or 4th would have been a disaster. May is the best full back in the league by a mile. We got the win with our structure the way it was, the opposition is gonna kick a few goals every game. It was no big deal that Peter had some chances throughout the game when they got the momentum.
  21. 6 Clayton Oliver 5 Angus Brayshaw 4 Ed Langdon 3 Sam Weideman 2 Jake Bowey 1 James Harmes
  22. My vote goes for Adonski because he has the tightest back 6. Since 3 of them have played together in the best defence ever in the history of the game, they would be in sync quicker than the other teams would be re:team chemistry and could hold down the other opposing forward lines. Looking across the teams midfields and forwards the 4 teams seem to break even when comparing players in those positions. Looks like it would have been a fun exercise for you guys, good stuff.
  23. Great news today about Bayley Fritsch signing on until 2026
  24. Taj has only had eyes for the Dees. Has said publicly since he was about 14 his goal was to play for us. That puts other clubs off, in the same way no other clubs are talking about picking up Nick Daicos or Sam Darcy this year.
