  1. We're always bringing in an out fringe players that rarely impact the game because the midfield can't spread, man up and hit targets. The forward structure seems easily countered by opposition. Until the coaches and midfield group become less predictable the same result will keep happening.
  2. Tom was a great endurance athlete, probably still is. Something physically happened to him, foot, back, hips that has ruined his agility and flexibility. Fatally. I also get the impression he's a big sook and is a confidence player more than anything.
  3. Agree, but Tomlinson doesn't offer much for me though. He's solid. Would he get a game in the top 4 teams? In our 22 just but a bit disappointing. Maybe better suited on the wings at MCG? Melksham is good in a good side, a symptom rather than a cause.
  4. Understand that call but the good teams have multiple intercept marking options and Hore can play the rebounding defenders role that Hibberd plays. He can play small and tall imo. TMac could not play CHB anymore, he's got the turning circle of a road train. Either he plays deep FF or gets traded. Weid could play CHF but prefer him leading inside 50.
  5. What is our best 22? Injuries and new recruits aside what would your best 22 look like Rnd 1 2021? Fire away. B: Lockhart May Hore HB: Rivers Lever Salem C Langdon Brayshaw Bennell HF: Harmes Jackson Melksham F: Pickett Weideman Fritsch F: Gawn, Oliver, Petracca I: Hannan Viney AVB Tomlinson E: Hibberd Jordan Sparrow Petty
  6. Fair point, I'm not sure where Yze is in searching for a senior coaching role. Love to have him on board.
  7. As unpopular as this sounds I'd be possibly put Viney on the trade table I'm not convinced his game style is current. If we could get good value for him trading for a proper A grade target i'd be interested. But only if.
  8. Who i'd like but aint going to happen 1. Longmire 2. Beverage 3. Hardwick 4. Dew 5. Longmuir
  9. Since McCartney left, youth development has been non-existent. Petracca only player to improve. Near enough is good enough attitude can [censored] right off.
  10. Keep: Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, May, Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Bennell, Weideman, Sparrow, Fritsch, Langdon. Everyone else is on the chopping block for trade or compost heap
  11. The first half proves to me the coaches are mostly to blame. I'll leave the damning players assessment to other threads. Carbon copy of the Sydney game 1st half. 46 uncontested marks to 10. That's not effort that structure. Also selections remain a mystery to me, maybe trying to up their trade value. That backfired 2 fold. I think the players are cooked, when always chasing games we get zero reward for effort leading to despair and frustration. Kicking with the wind last week and the 1st Qtr last night showed zero urgency. This grind them down attitude works on Crows but when your playing for the season go hardest in the 1st 5 minutes. TBH we're about where we should be on the ladder, mediocre.
  12. Cracking couple of minutes that The crowd as he took the ball and then the absolute thunder through the stadium once he slotted it. I'm pretty sure I popped one my only brain cells left from shouting incoherent superlatives too loud.
  13. 120 point spread for me we could win by 10 goals or lose by 10 goals but +1 would be fine thanks.
  14. 1. No natural leaders 2. Coaches stubborn 3. Lack of Intelligence 4. Collective lack of brutal competitive edge
  15. That was appalling, i'm shocked. I'll check the scores post game to see how much we lost by. Off the the virtual Chalet for some cheese platters for me
  16. It was clear in the Crows game he was battling with the intensity and physicality of AFL football. Both club and player would view the next 3 years more important than the next 3 weeks.
  17. Seeing ANB in disappoints me. 1. Selectors don't rate Bedford/Hunt/Bennell. I was hoping these boys could have improved to be in contention. Nothing against ANB. 2. They should've rested Pickett last week or week before and give him games Vs Swans/Freo. 3. I prefer Hannan as a deep forward and think we've ruined his 2020 by playing him out of position and no continuity. He's not a high HFF. He's 1 player i'd like in firing before finals (fingers crossed). Do recognise his form has been poor though. Frittta/Harmes easy changes and Smith is intriguing. Could he play small in the Hibbo role? I don't mind it, worth a risk. Get Rivers on a wing? Not sure where Tomo fits in though. I think Wagner will get Papley at times he's got pace that Harmes doesn't. I would like Lockhart back Monday also. But a strong team IMO, we should win well.
  18. Don't mind it, depending on the cost. 3rd round or pick swaps. He's the 3rd tall getting 3rd defender. Gotta think years in advance. I'd expect Jackson to play more onball as he gets more mature. Wouldn't mind seeing Jacko swapping with Gawn out of the goal square. 60/40 split. Finlayson is 24 and a left footer. The one thing I like about him is his accuracy. Kicks far more goals than points. My forward line in 2022, could use another tall. Pickett Weid Bedford Bennell Jackson Fritsch
  19. He looks to have a calm mature mindset, you can see this in interviews also. Lets hope the coaches don't Frantic him up too much
  20. We missed Fritsch especially high up around 70/80m from goal. Fritsch has good numbers in score involvements and goal assists. I'm assuming he's done his homework and eaten his greens and will be straight back in. No other definite 'ins' for me. But if Lockhart is fit i'd like him back to play on Papley. Good learning experience. Bennell must have been put on ice as i've heard nothing from him in regards to scratch matches. Harmes needed a freshen up? Outs: Our major issue is ball on deck from 0-70m out. Kozzie is way off and Spargo is trying to play that defensive role but can't get much of it either. I just don't see the 2 in the same side right now. I much prefer Hannan deep rather that high HFF now. He can tackle, crumb, mark and get in behind. 1 of these 3 needs to go. Kossie for me. Let him have a scratch match or 2 to run around and get some confidence. Oscar is a spud but I still think we defend better as a whole when he's in. Will he be needed this week? If they're going to turn Tomo into a defender that can be 2021 for me. I'm not sure I trust him Vs better teams yet. Get him some wing time back Vs Swans and Freo? AVB is tough and I love him but i'm not sure what value he adds with ball in hand. I'm assuming his 1% work outweighs this. Wagner/Brown were ok given their limited opportunities but not in our best 22 surely. Hibbo should get up given he played in the last qtr but could have a rest given the 4 day break. Jonesy might need miss either this game or next.
  21. Firstly I was baffled, angry, confused, nauseous, bitter and then repeat 3 times. I smell a stinker. On the face of it, it's really odd. But let's try and keep the glass half full just for another 12 hours... Might be horses for courses on that ground specifically. Max in speaks for itself. Wagner to play outside mid. Has defensive pressure. Kicked goals in scratch match also. Could run with Butler when forward. Rivers may play on a wing, I don't mind that. Looks to hit long targets. Brown in makes our forward line more mobile and will get to more contests, this will free up space. TMac's turning circle is about as wide as a road train. Hannan to play Fritsch role. Can mark and find space. Spargo and Kozzie must lift. Oscar frees up Lever. Tomlinson to play wing and on ball and chop out Max when needed. Could go forward also. Jones spare mid/HFF. Can score from 50. Think that's more his thing now. 8 possession 5 tackle 2 goal game i'd take right now. This team is more flexible IMO. You'd also expect Richo to bring some knowledge. Needless to say, we cough it up and bring lapses like last week we'll be tuning back in March 2021 Let's back them in. We bring intensity we're right in this. Go Dees.
