  1. Footy Smarts also needs some "Learnings"
  2. Unfortunately Footy Smarts is labeled as Indefinite.
  3. Good points! Especially if we win v Saints. I'm hoping for a 5 win streak but I can see us trying too hard and coughing it up = Saints play checkers over and over again like Q3 v Dogs. We seem to play terribly against them. Happy to look like a fool.
  4. V StKilda Loss V Sydney Win V Freo Win V GWS Loss V Essendon Loss Apologies, just woke up with disappointment expectation syndrome. Or it's chronic...
  5. I'd like to try Tomlinson back on a wing which is what he was recruited for, he can also play as an inside mid at stoppages to allow Oliver and Trac to get on the outside. He can also be a tall target on kick ins and switching play.
  6. Will need changes with injuries b Certain players having bad games are sometimes a symptom rather than the cause of a loss. Especially forward line. Dogs had 8 midfielders we had 5. Their wings and HF's or HB's all worked as a unit, ours did not. We also missed opportunities in front of goal in the 3rd which could have stopped that momentum and given us a slimmer deficit to chase in the last. I thought Bulldogs defended very well and took all their opportunities. We lost the midfield battle, weren't able to spread and weren't ready for their ability to run and play checkers basically. Outclassed and outcoached. Coach's needed to sacrifice Spargo, Melksham or Hannan to play more of a mid role to even up the numbers rather than trying to play their zone in behind role. zero output after half time. Chuck Kozi in the middle for a bit. At least he's unpredictable. Hannan in for Jones probably upset the system a bit the Sparrow went down. Gawn back will fix alot of this IMO, hopefully will get the mids back on their toes and not on their heels. Our backline is heavy with left foot rebounders and are too easy to defend against. Rivers needs to come back. He runs towards the goals and breaks the lines and can penetrate. Hibberd runs sideways on his left and doesn't penetrate. Likewise with Salem at times also when under pressure does his dinky kicks. Harmes and Tomlinson aren't natural defenders, this was exposed. not their fault when the ball is coming in repeatedly. I'm still a believer that Oscar plays. Even if he spuds it up at times. This benefits the other 5 defenders by allowing May and Lever to plays at their best. In: Gawn, Rivers, Oscar Out: Preuss, Hibberd, Sparrow Lockhart Oscar Lever Salem May Harmes Langdon Viney Rivers Melksham TMac Spargo Pickett Weid Fritsch Gawn Trac Oliver AVB Brayshaw Tomlinson Hannan
  7. A lot of soft arms going in for the pill today. Midfield again were flatfooted, i just don't get it.
  8. Not sure how the wind effects us today Pro: We have more avenues to goal so that's a plus, could be a high turnover day Con: Our kicking skills may desert us and could be very costly on turnover. i'm confident and nervous at the same time, felt like this vs Port.....
  9. We've drifted in the betting last 2 quite a bit, so i'm happy with this. We usually lose when we are favourites in these games anyway. Load up!
  10. Awful, although i'm pretty fickle these days. If i can't get what i want from a website in 5 seconds i hit the x button and rarely go back. I use footy live app for scores stats and the information powerhouse 'Demonland' for all my footy news...
  11. Agreed, Nev has been our family's favourite player for years. Never let you down. I'm biased but reckon he was the best small back pocket in the league for years. Don't write him off yet. He just a quality human and it's a credit to himself and the club for his leadership to indigenous youth and the broader community. I'd imagine he's mentoring both the small forwards and Lockhart, imparting his calmness and knowledge and the club would look to secure him at the club for years to come.
  12. Don't think it's harsh I just don't see them as finals standard AFL Players. Yet. I have full confidence Jacko, Rivers, Kozzie and Lockhart can become elite, potentially Spargo and Bedford. But they all need 50 games under their belts. We do have some good depth, Petty, Sparrow, Jordan, Chandler. But when targeting in the trade period we should aim for spots we need now. Draft for the future.
  13. My Dees List: Finals standard AFL players Key Forwards: Weideman Medium Forwards: Melksham, Fritsch Small Forwards: None Inside Mids: Oliver Trac Viney Brayshaw Harmes Outside Mids: Bennell, Langdon Medium/Small Defenders: Salem, Hibberd, Jetta Key Defenders: May Lever Ruck: Gawn I'd be chasing, Key Forward, CHF type. (Jacko will be a ruckman/onball) Small Forward/Mid: Papley type Left foot Wingman Outside Mids: Goalkicker would be nice. Mature Rebounding Right foot defender: (I really like Rivers but he'll take a year or 3)
  14. 80's Flower 90's Jakovich 00's Neitz/Wiz tie 10's Hogan 20's Oliver/Petracca
  15. If there's any doubt over Gawn's injury worsening they simply won't play him With so few injuries this year the list has been managed very well. I trust the medical staff and selectors to make the right decision.
  16. Max will play, We win this and finals is very much on the radar. We should win v Freo/Syd/Ess which is 10 wins. Finals! My only concern with the Dogs is pace. Jones/Harmes. The latter might need to go to Bont if he gets the upper hand in the guts. Could be an open game, depending on wind ferocity. Hannan/Bennell for Jones? Jonesy was ok but may need a freshen up. Can't see too many changes this week. In: Gawn and either Hannan/Bennell/Hunt/Jordan Out: Preuss Jones But if no Ruck, Tomlinson and TMac to share. Omac comes in. Can't allow Lever to be a key position. Hannan/Brown would need to come in as a marking forward. Windy conditions might favour Hannan.
  17. Very disappointing, he's been very good for us. His ground level stuff is amazing for a big man. Hope he's just nicked it.
  18. We have 4 players to look after Goldstein. TMac/Weid/Jacko/Tomlinson. 3 of those with big tanks. I wouldn't be surprised if we Ruck in zones. Tomo back half, TMac/Jacko mostly central and HF and Weid/Jacko f50. Spargo may play some midfield in the Viney role, with Sparrow. We need Trac/Gus to get outside pill also, along with Clarry at times. Hannan and Kozi alternating deep and around the arc. Fritta/Melksham high half forwards. Spargo assisting(hopefully not leading). North will set up expecting to win most hitouts, if we win midfield we should be able to open space and play the over the top checkers game. Their forward line doesn't stress me so our backs should be able to keep this mob to 50/60 points. TMac or Tomo can go back if we start to lose the midfield and they get repeat i50's. They have 2 talls at 195+ I would prefer Harmes as a mid but he may have to play HBF on Zurhaar. Hibbo/Rivers and Salem should manage to play their roles, rebound and link up. Spargo/Sparrow/Jones to go through the midfield with Melksham at times. AVB wing with Tomo. I'm expecting our mids to win, they don't look that deep North. They have good ball users though, can't afford to cough it up like v Crows. Overcast conditions at night so hopefully no due and a solid pill to hang on to. Go Dees
  19. Didn't mind it I'd say they've privately asked about it and nothing has been done. Commentators will now pay attention.
  20. In: OMac, Bedford, Rivers Out: ANB (surely forever), Jones, Lockhart Hibbo, Omac, Lever Salem, May, Harmes Langdon Viney Tomlinson Bennell Weideman Melksham Jackson Fritsch Bedford Gawn Oliver Petracca Sparrow Rivers Brayshaw AVB(Jones)
  21. Great win, season on the line going into Q4. Regardless of opposition the pressure was very real and intense. We responded. We were sloppy, terrible at times. To coin a soccer term, our first touch is NQR at the moment. Both teams had a massive crack. Our effort was outstanding. Trying too hard at times? May and Oliver outstanding Jackson looks the goods Fitness showed in the last, in Burgess we trust. ANB not AFL standard Lockhart/Sparrow/Langdon. I'm not sure. Jones, I love the man but he is looking a liability. Watch the replay and see the boys after the song. He wanted no part of it. The Brayshaw situation is intriguing, was he tagging Crouch in the 1st half? And in previous games? I think he may be playing a role and working on his defensive game.
  22. Dropping Hannan is the annoying one for me, yes he was poor but he wasn't alone. I'm assuming he hasn't done his job off the ball. He is our only true forward IMO, when we play well he plays well. I'd like to give him some continuity as well. Could be a rugby score anyway by the looks. Jones/Brayshaw/Harmes/Sparrow/AVB in the same team is a concern. Nervous, very nervous.
