Unbelievable game from two A grade teams. The crowd behind Bruce as he was running onto the ball at the end reminded me of Hannan’s run against Geelong in 2018. Gave me goosebumps.

Hardly fools mate. Will Phillips is going to be one of the best players in the competition in a few years.

Give him a break. Yes his set shots need work but he’s a 3rd to 4th marking forward option, basically playing a as a key forward with our current structure. He will benefit greatly with the return of the Weid and BBB. An important ingredient in our future forward line.

Might be the number, but geez James Jordon visually reminds me of James McDonald on the field.

Just got home after a skin full with a hoarse voice. South Melbourne market dimmies on the steamer and replay on. I went tonight expecting a loss, expecting to be run ragged by the Saints. We rattled them, made them second guess themselves, forced them to kick hurriedly to nobody. It was a beautiful thing to watch. We didn’t rush ourselves and continued to hit targets with short kicks. Forward entries still need work, but it didn’t matter so much knowing we had dangerous smalls circling like hungry animals. Although the clearance stats were fairly even, we won the clearances that mattered. Wasn’t perfect, but we beat a side that has been pumped up to the shizenhousen by the media on their home deck by three goals. Should have been 8 goals. Haven’t come home feeling so elated after a game of footy for a long time. Thanks Dees.

Keep two forwards in our forward half at all times, we win this game. First half of that second quarter we had no one one forward of 50 and it killed us. Viney getting caught with the ball was not his fault. He literally had nothing to go to. Would be hard to tell on TV.

Have finally managed to watch the entire game after work. While I understand some of the frustration on here, I don’t think there’s a need for panic stations just yet (perhaps because I watched the game knowing the result). While we were at times (very) rusty, we were in control all day and could easily have won by 7-8 goals with better kicking. Things I took out of it: - Gawn and Petracca had average games and will get much better. - Brayshaw was hot and cold but had a massively interrupted pre-season. Plenty of rust. - May and Lever have finally clicked and thank the lord for them. - Our small forwards were good and applied good forward pressure which is something we’ve badly missed. - Welcome back Tom Mac. I’ve missed you. - We will improve immensely with the inclusions of Viney, Brown, Weid, Hibberd and dare I say it Melksham. - Great first game from James Jordan. - I love Kozzy. Hoping for a more polished performance next week as we are going to need it. I’ll reserve judgement as to where we are at until post the Saints game. Go Dees.

Unfortunately couldn’t get there because of work. I’m about the size of 100 people post lockdown so would have made a difference if I got there.
