  1. They don't over pay ruckman. Want a dynasty/retain your list? Get yourself midfield stars but dont spend your cap on the tallest bloke in the centre square.
  2. We have 20+ premiership players? Half their side are also rans. We are equal top. They are 50/50 record outside the eight. If we dont [censored] them by 8 goals we have no business winning a flag this year. The draw and competition only gets harder from here. The only loss i could remotely understand is at Marvel it sometimes just becomes a ping pong type game back and forth quickly.
  3. I think he debuts in a final, Dermie/Pickett style. Theres a great romance / team energy about it when it happens.
  4. I fully agree. We should want picks. We will have a premier midfield for the rest of this decade. I would much rather bank picks/cash and then use that currency on an established kpf into 2024. Our premiership window is open for 5 years with this midfield and backline. Get a top 10 goal kicker will set us up for the rest of the decade. Getting lobb will fill a gap for 2 years. Ho hum. Play the long game.
  5. Id be very excited to recruit him and watch him go immediately to the top of the forums whipping boy's list. Do not pass go.
  6. We lost a game and he's an easy target. Its the DL way. Per disposal he is by far our best goal assist player for 2 years now. But let's ignore that. For a midfield that is well below average by foot and decision making, the narrative should be how do we get this guy the ball more as the last kick inside 50 rather than drop him.
  7. Does it have to be immediate?Deals done in the past years eventually bear fruit a few seasons later. Trade received draft picks for future picks in 2025 and beyond. Spend the summer developing a journeyman or Weed into a second ruck. (I didnt like writing that sentence either.) I dont think its total pie in the sky stuff. If Jackson leaves would the club accept taking a punt on 2023 and 2024 to set us up for the rest of the decade. The premier midfield will be here until then.
  8. I wouldnt be surpised if one of Frittas KPIs from the coaching staff is shots on goal. Goodwin has mentioned a few times about Fritta in interviews he loves that he generates high shots on goal. For the record, im not condoning it but sometimes players have a KPI really engrained in their head.
  9. If this news is true, whats the over/unders on the number of posts in this thread when a rival contract is finally signed. Very odd he'll play out the year as negotiations are taking place between his management, the club, and potentially another premiership contender. Huge distraction and as professional as the industry is (spoiler alert: it isnt), its a bit farcial.
  10. First time since Round 10, 2018 Max hasnt taken a single mark in the game. Only the 2nd time in almost a decade. As the best mark around the ground player in the AFL thats a pretty big hole to fill.
  11. Ha. Great summary. Great prediction. Rolicking good read. Thanks for that. Imo, im surprised by the confidence in this thread. Closest to a 50.50 game for us for quite a while. Wont be surprised by the overreactions and meltdowns should we lose. Our fate will be decided in September no matter what happens tonight in reality.
  12. Imo it ends up being pretty much the same as all contracts; some end as bargains, others you over pay. Franklin was a beauty for the Swans in terms of value, Brundy is a disaster. Josh Kelly, jury out. In Brundy's case, the downside is clearly list killing, but the upside of nailing a long term contract also has to be recognized as you suggested (list stability, lower salary, marketing, clarity on signing other players!). Given Oliver's durability thus far and his proven consistent match winning play its a huge win for mfc.
  13. Nick Larkey is the guy to go for in the next couple of years imo. He's 24. Norf will be going absolutely nowhere for his entire football career. That's almost a dead cert. Forget about playing finals, if he wants to know what even winning games is like, he will not see out his career at Norf (jake bowey about to go past him on wins) . Rfa end 2024. No reason to think he would cost big coin, he'll be wanting out.
  14. Im not suggesting it was a fluke but ANB, Oliver and Petracca combined have kicked 14 goals 39 behinds this year with about 15 more shots that missed everything I think. That's pretty amazing to be that poor. A random cannon shooting the football at goal would have converted more. Ok maybe i am suggesting it was a fluke
  15. The inconvenient truth about this is that guys are open but the decision making (and execution) is sub par. Its a problem that plagued the team in 2019 and 2020. Decison making is not easily solved. Its easiest rectified by changing the decsion maker. Clarry has had 82 inside 50s for 8 goal assists Charlie spargo has had 41 inside 50s for 9 goal assists A similar type stat showed Petracca has kicked it 40 times into 50 without a mark being taken (I may be off on this) ANB 42 inside 50s, 12 goal assists. Out midfield could do with a little bit less grunt and hack forwards and a little more polish. Give Spargo a 5 to 10 minute rotation through the middle each quarter, particularly at centre bounces. Viney or Petracca up forward.
  16. Why have I been living my whole life without knowing its not illegal to pull down a woman's top? There are public and indecent exposure laws. Not to mention its a muslim country. Its 100 percent illegal. Whether she consents or not is not what makes it illegal. The act itself is illegal. She just chooses not to prosecute. If she did and if she was a local balinese, he'd potentially be in a jail cell right now. But she wasnt so I agree its a bit of a witch hunt. Media needs to back off here. Definitely taking pot shots because they know it will get clicks. Punishment should fit the crime.
  17. Why are people saying he's done nothing illegal. Its not illegal to pull a women's bikini top down? Genuine question. Surely if she wanted to press charges, he'd be in some serious hot water. I mean it's not world ending stuff, but I've been drunk 1000 times and never thought to do that. Maybe the rest of us were brought up differently. Was he raised by wild animals maybe? It's neanderthal stuff.
  18. I like this idea. Andrews and Adams have his measure. Giving Weed the ruck game could really force him to be physical and crash some packs. I'm sure he would be able to take an intercept mark or two and he would have a significant mobility edge on Oscar.
  19. Carlton have done it semi effectively with Silvagni. But he's a bit taller and heavier and more of a swing player. Brayshaw is way too important to how we set up behind the ball. Majak Daw was brought in for this specific reason. Cover for Max. He will play if fit imo
  20. Have lost contested marks 50-29 the last three weeks and now without the best around-the-ground contested mark in the AFL. Shudder or curl up in a ball?
  21. The Bulldogs are investigating?!?!? The AFL and the Police should be investigating. I'm not jumping to conclusions here, but he's put himself into a posiiton where this demands a drug test. If guilty a years suspension. He's the most popular player in the game. Do that shiz off line you muppet if you're boring enough to do it.
  22. And that often ends in a painful financial burden for the city. But pardon my ignorance but er, what? No roof? Really? Roof for the players or roof for the fans? The requirement a new team needs a fricken stadium shows how delusional the AFL is. The new team needs heart, passion, players and coaches committed, it needs branding, marketing, innovation, the franchise needs wins, culture, long term thinking. The last thing it freaking needs is a roof on its stadium. If thats really what the AFL thinks will make it a success, just stop wasting time and end the effort now. For the record, I dont think numbers make much sense to have a team in Tassie but they didnt for GCS and they gave that a try so who knows
  23. I remember growing up in the 80s and 90s and all the Bomber supporters who were all so smug. And right up until 2000 when yes, they had a truly outstanding team. But oh how it warms the heart to know that since their 2004 elimination final win they've done Sweet. F. A. And it warms it even more knowing with this list they'll do nothing for another 5, probably 10 years. Soft mids, skinny talls and overweight half forwards. Its just so wonderful to watch. The same list manager for 2 decades but yet in total denial its his fault. Lets hope they never sack him.
  24. Seriously, if May wants to say those sort of comments to 'one of his own', he really should be saying them here on this site anonymously. At least he'd get a few likes. Storm. Meet. Teacup.
