  1. I have an inexplicable desire to purchase some steel and mesh
  2. We’d have to be looking at him as a mid/frwd option - no way Lexer and May would welcome a Leake in the backline
  3. Sounds like an English soup
  4. Apols if this has been covered but Meth Coast social media account joking about the weakness of offers for pick 1 is weird.
  5. Not an expert in government policy, obligations or lobbying but I reckon there would be many examples of ‘grossly inequitable’ funding of sporting clubs. I coach a junior, inner-suburban football team. Our club is huge and heavily -subscribed but our facilities are beyond awful, we barely get a cent from the government. When we play the teams in ‘emerging suburbs’ the disparity in facilities is mind-boggling. Some of these joints are better than Marvel.
  6. From what I have read, no reputable phantom drafts have happened yet. Cal Twomeys latest one was a ‘rankings list’ which is different to a phantom draft (doesn’t consider team needs etc - just a list of best players). Just because he isn’t ‘ranked’ inside the top 6 doesn’t mean they don’t believe he will go within the top 6. The reliable phantom drafts typically drop a few days out from the draft
  7. Norf will be doing everything in their power to make Wet Toast think Curtain won’t get past pick #3. and Wet Toast will be doing everything in their power to make Norf think that the Eagles have convinced Curtain there is a warm bed for him back home if he gets chosen by a Vic club. Fascinating game of poker.
  8. Agree on all of the above. Government stumps up or we might be in trouble with this option. And sadly our state is staring down years of covid-response debt pain so the MFC’s training facilities is hardly a priority. I’d imagine the ‘public value’ argument that Collingwood leveraged when they got funded would be difficult to use because my best guess is Caulfield are already delivering on that as part of the redevelopment.
  9. Perfect. During interviews we’ll get the idea in his head about coming home and then get him to request a trade home when Petty submits his Crom request.
  10. I know several people very close to the redevelopment at Caulfield. My understanding is they would happily welcome Melbourne there but Dees don’t have anywhere close to the $ they want (as it stands).
  11. You now have we worried for the welfare of Nick Watson in the event we draft him
  12. I’d wanna go home too if someone near-doubled my salary
  13. Amazing the AFL let them trade them out if they were conditional
  14. Not sure how appealing our future 1st is with two end-of-1st round picks coming their way next year courtesy of AFL handout
  15. Have the MFC faithful not suffered enough this off-season?!
  16. Hope he likes to party. Too soon?
  17. Yep, that’s the play. Hopefully a flag in that period with him too. Sad it has unfolded like this. Tarnishes his premiership-hero status a touch for mine now.
  18. “The decision has kind of been made now by Melbourne, which I’m totally fine with, I’m happy I’m on an AFL list still,” Petty told Nine Adelaide. “I suppose at some stage I’d be open to a move back (home)… it is tough at times but my family are lucky enough, they can come over and see me a bit there. It is tough at times though.” Probably would’ve been easier just not saying anything Harry.
  19. Very simplistic to say all of those blokes play the same role, because they do not. Add to that Watson has more midfield upside than all of them (and goal smarts only equaled by Kossie in that group), which I would have thought is more of a need than replacing May in 2 - 3 years when you’re deep inside a premiership window.
  20. Watson and O’Sullivan flipped for mine based on needs (surely Dogs can’t risk having another bloke St Kilda players could potentially set alight).
  21. Will be claiming he forecasted the ‘Petty playing golf with Adelaide players’ shortly
  22. Nobody knows if this is right or wrong. If Taylor has a player he wants that won’t make it to 6 but would likely be there at 4 then he might decide to trade up but Melbourne have been pretty tight lipped on who we want (aside from obvious attempts to get closer to Reid at #1). We’re not trading up and shedding a future 1st without a specific player in mind.
  23. throw Petty an 8 year contract to really bait him
  24. Recruiting quality interstaters poses a risk… we’ve lost Hogan, Jackson, Thompson, the Wiz, maybe Petty and others in my lifetime. Not saying you don’t recruit kids from interstate (there are plenty that stay) but people on here fascinated with the idea of the two Tassie boys at the top end of this year’s draft - I can’t see anything but a lose/lose outcome from a Dees’ perspective… the lure of representing their state’s first ever side (+ the $$$) will be far more powerful than Harry Petty wanting to return to the city where he went to boarding school and where his sister plays netball.
  25. Is the growing consensus that we’re no longer realistically after pick 1 but rather packaging #6 & #11 for North’s #3 + something late to get Brown?
