  1. What if the current ā€˜investigation’ being run at the club (which is due to end soon I think?) has already arrived at a recommendation that the best thing for the club was for a certain player not to be there anymore? That might explain why the CEO is involved.
  2. Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Gleeson has entered the arena🩸 ā€œIf you wanted to paint a picture of a club in disarray, this was as subtle as Ken Done.ā€
  3. Well I didn’t ’conclude’ that, I said it was possible. I said it was ā€˜possible’ because; - it seemed unusual that Geelong would be speaking to him with the limited trade assets they have IF they didn’t think Melbourne would be open to selling him on the cheap - he is taking up an enormous chunk of our salary cap for a very long time so if the FD don’t believe he will get back to his best and give us maximum value for that investment then it is reasonable to assume they’d at least explore options to move him on - the club could reasonably assume that if we were seen to be rushing him out the door in a ā€˜fire sale’, our members would be livid (akin to Filth members when Grundy and Treloar went) so influecing the narrative to make the decision look more out of our control has benefits
  4. If you managed to survive the Barry Prendergast years I’m sure you’ll make it through this!
  5. It is possible (regardless of how many on here couldn’t possibly believe so) that maximising his trade value isn’t the club’s primary objective and moving on from him in ā€˜as quiet a way as is possible’ in fact is.
  6. I reckon what went down with Clarry 12 months ago was what ripped the soul out of the club.
  7. Conspiracy theorist in me says Melbourne are pulling the strings in the background, quietly promising Geelong they’ll get him at a good discount (eg future 1st or even 2nd rounder this yr), possibly even including some of his salary in the deal, all in an attempt to move him on without it looking like we were pushing it.
  8. It was later scientifically proven that Sam Blease was the worst top 20 draft pick in the history of any sport. Ever.
  9. I don’t really know what that means
  10. So far this trade period we have; Kosi, Trac & Oliver on the way out Tom Campbell and Wade Derksen coming in. I’m drinking more in the off-season to cope than I did during the season proper.
  11. I’m ok with listening to ā€˜reasonable’ offers for him but Geelong’s top picks are 15 & 35 in this draft… doesn’t help any perception of stability we’re trying to build when club’s without the assets encourage stories like this
  12. Looking forward to this thread becoming dormant. It gives me zero joy.
  13. Was thinking the very same thing… there have been some great Irish players in the last 15 years and we’re nowhere near them… feel like we could’ve leveraged Jim’s legacy for competitive advantage in appealing to the best ones too.

I believe he was the smart play for us. His position and ability to move the ball quicker/smarter/better into our mids and forwards is most important one we need to fix if we are a chance of a flag in the next 5 years (which I believed we were).
  15. People are highlighting examples of trading that didn’t come off eg McAdam/Fullarton/Grundy to rationalise their anger at Lamb but my guess is no Geelong supporters are displaying anger that experiments like Dahlhaus didn’t work. Geelongā€˜s list-management success lies in their ability to pivot effectively over the course of a few years, albeit with a leg-up from their attractiveness as a unique destination eg Jeremy Cameron. Lamb still deserves that chance to show he can pivot (although he is running out of time) but it isn’t just the role of Lamb, it is a football department accountability. I’d have head of football under more pressure than Lamb is right now
  16. Spoke really well, wouldn’t have been easy. Love him.
  17. The irony for a side that gets so well looked after by the umps in a game
  18. Should have a bet on him, put to $5 to win
  19. 3-ish years on a 5 hundred-ish contract would be end of 2nd round is my guess so early 40s
  20. In Noosa
  21. Bec Maddern, please stop.

    Diggler has chosen the Dees!
  23. And walking from table to table handing out his sizzle reel
  24. He’s more advanced than that. Been training with a functional trainer called Max Pertzel for at least the last few weeks and judging by their socials he seems to be lifting decent weights already.
