  1. Grow up?? Grow up?? If you think the discussions have been respectful, you obviously haven't read them. It's a disgrace.
  2. This thread, and the disrespect it shows to an absolute legend of the club, is shameful. Some absolute tripe gets written and now all the trolls come out of the woodwork to shaft one of the greatest MFC players ever. I don't believe for one second that he wants to leave or ever did, but if this is the support he gets, who would blame him?
  3. Have you been watching this year? And perhaps listening to what Goody has been saying? Sparrow has been given very specific roles and is playing extremely well. Drop him? You are kidding!!
  4. I suspect that the answer might be Kentfield but not until next year at the earliest. But he will have a great teacher.
  5. Just as a matter of interest, Gawn is $301 for the Brownlow.
  6. I'm not one to do my block but that was disgraceful. All that effort to set up chances and then laziness, sloppy work, even arrogance. They need the biggest spray of all time.
  7. Completely agree. It is an article designed to upset everyone. I am super glad he stayed and I relish the chance for him to show the world how much he is worth and is valued.
  8. Any idea why Kentfield wasn't there? And is it correct that he has been showing quite a bit of promise as a key defender? I'd he back to his pre-illness size?
  9. Gee, it doesn't take long for people to turn. Not long so JVR was a saviour. Now he's trash. Well, he isn't; imv he needs to be played as a mobile CHF and we will see the best of him.
  10. I did and my heart was in my mouth when he took that shot
  11. Appalling. He should never be the final disposer.
  12. I'm glad you thought it was sense. Frankly, it all looks obvious to me.
  13. I'll add my two bob's worth: Windsor is NOT a defender and a potential great is being ruined. He is a winger! No, not a midfielder: a WINGER. Petty as a defender makes too many mistakes and always has. If he makes a mistake as a key defender, it costs us a goal. If he does it as a forward, it loses a scoring opportunity, that's all. He should play FF and let JVR play where he should: as a mobile CHF (and not as a backup ruck). If Max is going to rest for 10 minutes per quarter we MUST select a backup ruck. Fritsch plays best close to goals. Our recruiters have to find us some power big men in a hurry. When Max and May retire, our situation will be diabolical as things stand. My hero Clarry, and others, have to run MUCH harder when the oppos have the ball. There is no excuse for this loose marking of players, allowing the opposition to chip the ball around until they chip it to an unguarded player in their forward 50. Viney needs to be the one giving the handpass, not receiving it to deliver it into the forward line, since he ALWAYS kicks it to the opposition. So does Trac, who seems to blame others but should look at his own kicking skills. Jones and Choco have to go and Chaplin should go back to being defence coach. And those who say Goody was responsible for Jones getting the coaching gig: I don't think so!!!! There, all fixed😜
  14. I can't say how much I agree with this. We have completely gone down the wrong track, trying to emulate what other teams do when we don't have the correct players. Even if we could get it working, we would never be the best in the league at that game and to win the flag, you have to be the best. We should go back to strangling the life out of teams with contest, defence and power.
  15. Windsor - not a defender Petty - back to attack Sparrow - murdered his opponent
  16. Pretty much agree with all of this
  17. I was there in 2018 with my daughter. Horrible night. As I recall it, OMac should have got a free for a block but it was Taxpayer Park so no chance. Leaving the ground, the Geelong supporters were absolutely horrible - worse than Collingwood supporters. No magnanimity at all, just nasty. I have hated them ever since.
  18. When he was on Toby Greene, I think Toby had his number - not that that is any disgrace. But I don't think he was very good defensively against GWS.
  19. Or when McVee is back
  20. In my view, this would be a real concern. Windsor is a terrific player, but I am not at all convinced that he is a half back, particularly defensively, and Geelong's half forwards are extremely dangerous and need close checking. I don't think Howes is the answer either, but would rather rely on Salem, rivers and Bowser as smaller half backs.
  21. Ghostwriter is having technical difficulties with the new site and has asked me to forward her report/s from today: Leb back this week, the blister on his heel has healed and the infection has cleared up, and yes I told him to stop wearing sneakers without socks. X defs back for gather round TC came out with the seniors not the Casey boys Not a soccer ball in sight lots of goal kicking practice No Ricky Lever Luker two weeks away Jai playing for Casey tomorrow
  22. You would think that but if they are directed to position themselves in a certain way, they are expected to follow that instruction.
  23. The Jeff White analysis is ultra-interesting, and confirms what I had started to think: Jones is not the man for the job sand the quicker we realise it, the better. As Adam the God said, we are playing exactly like he used to, but with our midfield, that is so wrong. Also agree that the players are not running to offer leads etc - usually a sign of dissatisfaction with the coach, but which coach? Richardson needs to get involved.
  24. More and more I'm looking at our midfield coach. He was brought in for PR really but we are getting shellacked in the clearances so there are no good forward opportunities and too much pressure on the defence. And the players look very unhappy - why is that?
  25. Yes, thank you, that was exactly my point. I would FAR rather watch us win 71-64 in a " boring defensive style " than watch us play fast, outside football and lose by 5 goals. Now, about our midfield. In his presser, Goody said our midfield system wasn't working, and that is obviously true. Much as he was a greatly-loved player, should we be looking at our first-year midfield coach?
