  1. Yep, a 14 goal win - a great day to be negative about the club. I know they are the wooden spooners, but it was 14 goals. Can't we just enjoy it?
  2. What is so annoying but predictable is the way that ANY thread on this site gets sabotaged by people bagging out club and our players. FFS stick to the Goody thread please, because I can safely ignore the idiocy in that thread. As for Mihocek: I've always thought he was a really good player, but don't we already have a smart, perceptive, midsized forward who plays above his height level? His name is Jake Melksham. And if you put both of them in the forward line, and have another 2 or 3 smalls, that doesn't leave much room for developing power forwards like we would like JVR, Jeffo and Kentfield to be. And let's not forget our top goalkicker for a number of years, Fritta. So I think Mihocek would be a good get if we didn't have Milkshake, but we do.
  3. I am not an MCC member so can't respond. But i hate the music too.
  4. I've often thought this myself. I am a firm believer that defence wins flags. Hard contested footy will never be out of date in my view. But yes, there has certainly been a dropoff in the form of s ome key players.
  5. Reading the mood on this site at the moment, it would probably be seen as a negative
  6. I think the threat was the probably the main point of the letter. That is why he referred to it. And so he should. Threats like that are appalling and whoever made it should be dealt with - harshly- by the courts.
  7. Surely a great coach like McRae couldn't go out in straight sets!!! Any coach who allows that, no matter how well their team performed during the season, must be a complete dud, with a thread on the fan site dedicated to how they have to go...
  8. Did you watch the game last night?? He went in hard, showed all his old skill, and was among our best 3 or 4 players.
  9. Cranky, i have not seen one sign in all your posts that you support the club. You criticise it more viciously and consistently than any Collingwood or Carlton or whoever supporter does. You are not a supporter at all. So please, honour the promise you have made in this post.
  10. Ps of course, if you want to criticise Goody and the club for anything and everything, then sure, not every selection decision is one that everyone will agree with. BUT let's remember what the DLand view of Melksham was a couple of years ago!
  11. Completely agree with this. Re dropping TMac: I thought it was terribly sad as he had been playing very well, is a real trier, and has given great service to the Club. However, clearly the Club thought that lever was a better player and that is a reasonable thing to say. You can't have four tall defenders in the one team. Goodwin is very much a believer in developing cohesion which no doubt is why some players remain in the team despite one or several bad games. I think selection integrity is very much a changeable term.
  12. Er, um, perhaps goals can change as time passes? Perhaps we were aiming for finals, rebuilding along the way, until the horror start to the year kiboshed that intention? Perhaps the focus in rebuilding then intensified?
  13. I'm here "boring myself" because I think that the mindless criticism needs to be challenged. But apart from saying that, I really can't be bothered replying further to your nonsense.
  14. Actually, as one of the "apologists" I can say, we don't say that. However, we say that not every loss is his responsibility. We say that a season where we ended up top four, entered the finals with a long injury list including most of our key forwards and still lost to the eventual premier by 7 points is not a season to be completely ashamed of. We say that he has dealt with some pretty severe problems such as the untimely forced retirement of a true leader and key player, and serious injuries to two multiple AA players, and kept the playing group generally united. We say that his excellent relationship with the players means that, eg, we get to keep players who are heavily pursued by other clubs. We say that yes, there are things that could have been done better, but that does NOT make him a disastrous coach. So if you are going to criticise the "Conga line" then at least do so on a proper basis.
  15. What is the difference, exactly? Roffey went because she handled an interview poorly at a critical time. Pert went after quite a few successful years as CEO, but where the team was performing poorly. But what is the difference in culture? I can't see it!
  16. Yes, some of you can stick to the topic. Currently 175 pages of people sticking to the same topic: everything Goody does is wrong. It is SOOOOO boring.
  17. FFS, yet another positive, enjoyable thread derailed by people wanting to knock goody. Can they at least stick to the knock Goody thread?
  18. I'll conflate as much as I like, thank you very much.
  19. Just for all the club knockers on this and other threads: have a look at the story in the AFL website about Disco and his family and see what the club has done RIGHT!
  20. Absolutely agree
  21. I thought in the second half today he showed a lot. But he needs to spend the summer learning to be a deadeye. His kicking for goal is poor, but he is a full forward! If he could become a deadeye, he looks like he might make it. Look at BBB - he never got a lot of the footy but for almost all of his career he was absolutely deadly with a set shot. That got him a Coleman or two. Jesse Hogan is the same. Jeffo needs to develop a routine that works and then make it totally habitual.
  22. If you thought he lacked intensity you didn't watch his second half.
  23. Jeffo: it's like he just woke up. If he can build from this then picket might be right after all!
  24. Unfortunately, as our key forward he is supposed to win them, not halve them.
  25. The things posters write... Anyone reading this would assume that our coaches don't lay awake at night dreaming of game plans, preparing tactics and so on. Anyone who thinks that Goodwin doesn't do that, and probably Richo although it's not his job, has no idea. And as for getting too comfortable with the players and playing favourites: hasn't anyone heard Goodwin talk about how you need to have cohesion with a settled team. Yes, he doesn't like making changes for change's sake, he wants teams to get used to playing with each other. In fact, Brad Scott was talking about the difficulty he's having getting exactly that because of injuries this year.
