  1. "As some say"? "As some say"? You are doubting it? The coaches Association doesn't doubt it!!
  2. Can you request the affidavits in reply? There may be two sides to this.. There usually are
  3. Not really relevant, but Geelong are thee worst dissenters by a country mile, and never never never get pinged for it.
  4. I didn't say he was no good, but if you defend him like he is a small-medium and not a tall he is beatable.
  5. Which would suggest Carlton's position isn't hopeless
  6. Not in a million years. I know everyone (aka Damian Barrett) loves Jezza; I think he's overrated. My memory is no good, but I don't recall him ever doing much against us.
  7. Is the bit about the response that concerns me. And I didn't get personal about anyone. I did reply to a comment starting," On a more serious note..." But my post was really about the whole trading players out ethos, and the expectation of one-way loyalty.
  8. My post was very serious. And its concern related back to the idea that Melbourne was not immediately shutting down speculation ( although I don't really believe there is any thought of trading him; I think that was bignoting rumour-mongering).
  9. I thought she was an absolute key to our win last week - really bad loss. All the best to her.
  10. How did you guess? But I was making a broader point.
  11. What I don't get is this: we expect players to show total loyalty and commitment to the club and the jumper; how is it that we are not expected to give them the same loyalty? That is why I hate this sort of talk. We owe one of our greatest, most committed, relentless and outstanding players the loyalty that he has shown us - by, eg, playing half a season in obvious severe pain in his dominant handballing hand. I know it is said that football is a business. Does any one of us really believe that? - that we love Melbourne for its financial bottom line? No, We love our club because we love our club because we love our club. It is not just a business. It is a passion and we should respect it and treat it as such.
  12. I agree that this year there were a number of games where we fell down badly in that area (effort) but generally it has been our hallmark for 4-5 years now, and we have been the best at it. Is what made ANB so valuable and good. It is another word for" contest and defence ". I hope and believe we will get it back in 2025.
  13. Actually, with both those teams it was 1-1 for the season. With Geelong and Hawthorn it was 1-0 - we played those two teams only once each.
  14. It's how you win games against teams that can't defend. We beat Geelong and Hawthorn, you know.
  15. I have been thinking about this a bit. Unlike many other clubs, the Melbourne supporter base is not at all localised. Geelong, Footscray and to a lesser extent others get massive government funding which is sheer pork-barreling, because it swings voters in a given electorate. We don't have that pull. And that is no-one's fault.
  16. I actually have always thought he gets the best out of a list which has huge holes in it. And he seems like a top bloke. However, as anyone who has read my posts - all one of you- world know, I am not dissatisfied with the current coach.
  17. These 180 degrees different opinions show how unreliable rumours are. This denigration of a champion who has had one average season, playing most of it with a badly broken dominant hand, shows why I think this whole load of rubbish is potentially bad for his mental health.
  18. And a reasonable offer for a four time B and F, 3 x AA, 2x Coaches Assocn best player, would be ....... Perhaps Cripps and Bont in a package. Players like Clarry - which is an oxymoron anyway - don't grow on trees.
  19. It's the suggestion that Melbourne might consider it that would do damage. And I very much doubt if that is true.
  20. With just a few tens of millions of government support....
  21. If you don't understand it, try harder! It's not rocket science. The only consequences of this posting, whether intended or not, are to sow doubt in Clarry's mind and thus risk all the gains that have been made, to get all us supporters upset, and thus to bignotethe original poster. The post you commented on was really talking about, why post it, not whether there is any minuscule foundation.
  22. Let's use our brains. To GET him a club would have to offer at least two low first-rounders and take over all his salary. Who is going to do that at this stage of his career? On the other hand, we have invested a great deal of effort into helping a player who has been one of the top 5 or so players EVER to play for Melbourne, and who is now totally committed to repaying the club for that. It won't happen. And if WCW is right and players read this garbage, that would be a terrible thing for his mental health and recovery.

She "popped up" at the football - which, regrettably, is finished for the year, for us.

Love it!!!! And we can call it AFL XX!

Roffey had one poor interview. Other than that, she has generally presented pretty well but she is not a media-hogger like Kennett or Maguire. Pert says what needs to be said: Surely you don't expect him to say publicly (even if it were true which I don't think it is) , " The club is a mess, we will be wooden-spooners next year etc etc etc" - he deflects questions and gets on with his job - which includes financial viability, record membership, and generally excellent on field results, but for this year (and the reasons for that have been discussed ad nauseam).
