Please get off Clarry's back. Show some respect!
I think there are a few posters on this thread who have a bit of humble pie to eat (but they won't).

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
I too think Pup is unlucky to have been dropped. He was given 10 minutes and could not have done more in that time. (His kick after the free is overlooked a lot: it was a perfect kick that set it up so only Petty could mark it). I can only suspect that they thought: pick him as sub, let him have a taste to see the pace and toughness of senior football, and then he can go back to Casey and work with that knowledge.

I hate it when we are hot favourites.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Good ruckmen who are prepared to be second string are very hard/impossible to find. The list managers have tried with Schache and with Fullarton; Schache is a fail, Fullarton may be a fail too but we don't know yet for sure. They have recruited Verralls. In other words, they are trying but have not yet achieved the near impossible.

The real state of the game
Change the rules so as to eliminate grey areas as much as possible. Get rid of knee jerk rules eg nominating ruckmen. And FFS, pay the frees when they are there!

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Because it is a waste of Max. He is capable of taking a big mark in the forward line occasionally, and if he is 50+ metres out he might kick the goal, but he is a key player as a ruckman - his tap work, his goal-saving marks in defence, his marking between half back and wing as we come out of defence - these are all the work of s ruckman. Oh, and I forgot the clearances where he kicks it out of the centre himself. Which is why he has been 6 times AA ruckman.

Er, So is Gawn...... Gawn will be the AA ruckman, not Grundy.

Don't be effing ridiculous. As for your original post: how many times does it need to be said?- he is a good ruckman when, and only when, he is the main man. The same is true of Gawn. And the idea of keeping him at Casey just so he didn't go elsewhere: that is a really generous, good-culture thing to do - not! Not even Collingwood descended to that. Do you want us to be lower than them?

Mick Malthouse "Demons Culture"
The way to get rid of this crud is to start winning. Let's try doing that. I have to agree with one thing: it would be nice to hear from Kate - even if it is just platitudes.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
Simon panicked??? Simon panicked??? What about all the posters on this site who kept going on and on and on and on about how Collingwood had picked apart our game plan, we needed to move the ball quicker, our defence had been worked out etc etc etc But now the narrative is, we should have stuck with it?

Harrison Petty
This thread is disgusting. The way he is being discussed is appalling. A few years ago TMac suffered a serious foot injury. For the following two years there was an enormous amount of vitriol directed at him - but look at him now: reborn!! The simple fact is, foot injuries of this type take years for full recovery. MFC supporters should know this: see Trengove, Vandenberg, Viney as well as TMac. Petty will come good. What is certain is that when he does, most of the posters here won't own up to how bad their behaviour has been and how wrong they were.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Fremantle
If there is any coach replacement to be done, it should be at Casey. We need s strong VFL team, as we had before, and Casey started sliding the minute it changed coaches. A strong VFL team, thoroughly trained in the system, provides the base for success. And I don't think it is about personnel; it is about how the players operate within the system.

NON-MFC: Round 12
They've done it for years - worst offenders are Hawkins and Cameron - and I have never ever seen them pinged for it. Sorry, I forgot to mention Dangerfield....

Vale John Beckwith
I remember when they brought in the OOF rule and he was asked about it - he said something like "I wouldn't have worried, I was pretty good at the off-break". Great sense of humour...

Changes to “Holding the Ball” Rule
Sorry to disagree with everyone, but I think it is great. Alistair Clarkson said years ago that if they want to get the game more free flowing, they should enforce holding the ball.
