CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Gold Coast
In: Melksham Weideman Sparrow Out: Harmes Jackson Jordon Think we are playing one too many mids with Viney and Harmes now in. Jackson needs a rest and Weids can back up ruck and is more dangerous forward Jordon needs a rest and Sparrow needs a run

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Not concerned at all by that loss. It is July lets see what happens in September. That is when it counts Just need to do enough to finish top 4

GAMEDAY: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Looking at the lineups our bottom 6 is far better and to be honest our bottom 6 is very hard to identify these days which is a great sign. I know we are full strength and they are missing 2-3 but still. Just need a solid team effort. Playing at the same time and same empty stadium as last week will help us. Dees by 19

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
Draw against Hawks 17th on the ladder. Sure reads bad. They did beat the Swans by 38 five weeks back. Beat GWS recently and were close against bombers. So yeah they are 17th but on their day they go ok. Hawks seemed to outnumber us in our F50 and we were often happy just to bomb it in. Some of our ball movement was a bit safe. Maybe the conditions. Hawks kicked at least 4 goals that I remember from free kicks inc the 50 meter penalty. 2 def were not there. We missed some sets shots. Flip this and we win pretty easily. No injuries and 2 points which keeps us 3 wins ahead of 5th with 5 weeks left. Top 4 is all we need given top 2 will likely be Vic teams. Lets see what we can bring in September. Petty looked good last night. Looked strong in the contest. Very pleasing.

COVID & AFL 2021
Interesting...... I think it will still be at the G. QLD and in particular WA are happy for a snap lock down too.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Essendon
Take the win. Important 4 points. Messy last quarter. Could not win a clearance. Played well in the 3rd but missed a lot of chances Gus played well. Best I have seen him kick the ball for a long time. Think we need to bring BBB in and give him a good run at it

When do we get to see Majak?
Majak is good insurance as he can play back, ruck or forward. Petty has done ok since Tomlinson went down but he doesn't have the size of Tomlinson where Majak does. I have a suspicion he might have a role to play here at some stage.

NON MFC: Rd 15 2021
Cats will put the 16 min quarters back on the agenda this week

TEAMS: Rd 15 vs Essendon
Interesting not replacing the tall....I guess we did go 6-0 with the Tmac and Jackson as the only talls and Fritsch the hybrid. Max will play more forward in this setup and Jackson more time in the ruck. Arguably this may be our best setup. Glad Sparrow has been kept in. Was good against the Lions. Interesting to see Jordon named in starting 18 on wing. Gus on bench. Love Jack back in. He just brings intensity. He will crunch a few. Bombers won't be thrilled to see his name. You would expect our tackle count to be high this week. Go Dees

The disappearance of training reports
I don't miss hearing " X player hurt his knee in marking contest, spoke to docs, walked slowly back to AAMI park. Hope it is not serious........' Then I proceed to stress unnecessarily for days until I hear the player is at training 2 days later. Appreciate the reports but I am sleeping much better just waiting for the teams to drop on a Thursday night and assuming everyone is training like a champion.

Trade Targets
Very happy with this (First to admit I am an Essendon hater) I thought the best case for them was to finish bottom 4 this year and then get a compo pick for losing Merrett. Giving them 2 top 5 picks. They talk very positively (when haven't they?) but I think they will stay mediocre for a few more years yet. Still have some massive gaps in their list. 2 top 5 picks was their best option.

Where will we play the Lions?
If not Alice lets just go to the Gabba. Will get a good crowd. We take the gate. Best thing for footy.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs
Great bounce back win Doubters can sit back down Our defensive setups must be first class Highlight for mine was that lovely left foot pass by ANB that resulted in Weids first mark and goal in the 3rd. Crucial goal. ANB I was wrong. You have had a great year. I thought your old habits were returning down in Tassie against North but you have bounced back. The true barometer. Love the ball in Spargo’s hands. He doesn’t mind drawing the high contact free does he. Selwood esk from Spargoat. Why does Max always get called to play on quickly after he marks it. BT in round 11 just realises Brayshaw is playing a new role this year. Played great tonight. Shame about Langdon. Could be worse though.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
No prizes awarded for 10-0 Backline and General pressure up field was off last night. Credit to Crows and the Salem out unsettled us. People that are lauding the Dogs quickly forget the Tigers (without Dusty) absolutely bullied them in the 2nd half in round 7, and that Carlton really had them in their match (27 point lead at one stage and heaps of missed shots also). I think we will go ok next week against them.

TEAMS: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Always think Melky is good for a goal or two or at least a few goal assists with the penetration in his kicking. But fair enough, I like Chandler and it looks a better balanced forward line with this change. On a side note - refreshing and good to to see the team named how it lines up on the day. Why play games. Must have been Choco’s idea.

Clubs Walking a Few Metres in Our Shoes
Jeff, just play Mothers Day in Tassie next year. Easy fix.

2021 Injury List
The Weid is in surely. Hope he takes his chance. Max to go back to rucking 90%+. Weid and TMac to share the 10% Rest up Luke Go Dees
-
Where is the Weid?
TMac 2 touches in the first half playing forward last week. Weideman vital to our future success - will be in soon no doubt. Next week vs Blues is my guess.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Jason Taylor would be sleeping well at night that is for sure. He has gone against the grain on some high picks and come out a star. Both considered risky at the time - Interesting to know what he would rate as a better pick - Kozzie at 12 or Oliver at 4?
-
CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Sydney
In: Petty, Weideman, Sparrow Out: Tomlinson, Baker, TMac, Jones
-
Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing
Weid will replace TMac at some stage. Might be a few weeks but it will happen. Get the BBB, Weid and Jackson combo firing then look out TMac can be medical sub. He actually would be the ideal medical sub.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Richmond
I am guessing Weideman would have been in if Fritsch didn't come up. Going for the team that have got us to 5-0. Fair enough too. We are very settled. The Dogs are 5-0 and they made 6 changes
