  1. Great win. We are super fit. Loving the different players going through different positions this year. We are so versatile. Opposition must have a hard time working out what is happening. Moving the ball well. Tactically we look very sharp. How much better are our kick outs. Pies did look good but they can be scored against quite freely in my opinion. Not sure we can. We played more attacking but still so sound behind the ball even without the best defender in the comp last night. .
  2. Laurie didn't do much against the Tigers so I was surprised to hear of the news of his debut. But after I have let my thoughts settle I think it is fantastic. He will be better for the run and R1 - what a great game for him to debut in. Lets see what he has got on the big stage. He certainly has some tricks. To me he has an odd body shape which I thought might hinder him career wise but glass half full it is not dissimilar to Gary Ablett Junior. Pleased to see McVee in. Looks a great mover and great kick. When you pair him with Bowey that is some neat ball users coming out of the backline. May is big loss but Hibberd or Turner to cover. Maybe Turner in and Hibberd the sub. After last years finish we needed a freshness and we certainly have that with McVee and Bowey in the backline, Hunter and Grundy and the new rotations in the mid with Rivers, ANB and Kozzie. It does suck after a long preseason to head into round 1 without 4 top liners. But I still think we will get the job done.
  3. Just finished watching the first 4 periods. These are my takes. Overall very positive. - We seemed to keep our width well. Happy to kick mark and look to corridor if there. - Thought our ball movement was good. Kicking sharp mostly as it was very windy. Patient movement in the backline but as soon as we get to the wings we went fast but no hero switches into corridor. Happy to take territory or to go down the line as we have great tall options with Grundy and Gawn. - Loved McVee. Looks a player. Looks a nice kick. - Bowey was great. Great kick - Like Bowey, McVee and Rivers in the backline. All great movers and ball uses. - Good to see a few others pop up in the midfield rotations. Kozzie, Rivers ect. Oliver the mainstay but Viney and Trac rotated through forward line. Trac could kick 40+ this year - Hunter very good. Langdon actually changed to the near side in the 2nd and 4th. - We look super fit. Half forwards get right up and back. - Shame TMac has to play a half in the backline to cover Lever - Grundy and Gawn seemed to work well. We looked strong in the air especially kicking out of defence. - Always a lot of direction between players on the field. Pointing to structures/positions ect - Seems like a lot of love between our players out there also
  4. I read that Essendon players were on a 5 day break after Wednesday. Read that in the article about their best and fairest Peter Wright hurting his calf. Not sure what was more alarming that he hurt his calf or that he is their best and fairest. Anyway looks like we trained hard Friday and then had another running session today. Whilst Essendon players are on a 5 day break. Sounds about right I suppose for both clubs.
  5. Awesome Nudge - that’s why I come on here - absolute positivity!!! Tingling with joy with every point read. Great report. Thanks
  6. Not 100% but id guess that is Schache
  7. Re: not having a proper bye. I hear the angst but the flip side is that we get a 10 day break into the Pies Kings birthday, 10 day break into Geelong then a 9 or 10 day break into GWS in Alice.
  8. Gather- round features only 2 games where Melbourne based teams play each other. Dees v ESS and Saints v Pies. These meetings are also the only time these teams play each other for the year. I think this is very poor that these teams have not been scheduled against each for a 2nd meeting back in Melbourne. I traditionally go with Essendon friends to Dees v ESS every year and it is not right that due to gather-round this has been taken away. I am sure this would apply to other Dees fans as well as pies and Saints fans. Gather round is a bonus money spinning round not a replacement round and by rights all teams that clash in this round should see a return match at a traditional venue at some point in the season. Only 2 matches are replayed later in the year (Rich v Swans, Haw v GWS)
  9. I really like what I see. I like what I read. I love this pick. I have very positive vibes. If this kid makes it after being basically picked up a from a training session sign JT up for life.
  10. My initial reaction on the night was negative. Was hoping for George. I just have my doubts Jefferson’s body shape will build up to where it needs to get to as he appears too slight in the shoulders for mine. He can certainly mark it. Highlights of his school footy show him playing with a lot more presence when compared to NAB league and VIC Metro which is a positive. Tall players are much harder to find and are highly sought after so I guess picking one up at pick 15 they are going to come with some question marks. Certainly fills a glaring list need so I think this is the probably the right pick. If his body can fill out he could make it.
  11. Very happy with Hunter. Smart player who is always in the right place on the outside to get used. Thought in 2020 when we were all bees to the honey pot he was exactly the player we needed. Will be a great partner for Langdon. To get him for a F3 only is a fantastic deal.
  12. Just watched all his goals in the VFL - Looks an absolute beauty to me. Great set of hands. Can jump too. Kicked a large number of goals in general play. Good set shot kicking action. Decent agility. Good pressure acts and just stays involved in the play. Those shoulders are huge. He will be an absolute tank. Can already hear the ‘Rooooooo’ calls at the G when he clunks one. Crowd favourite for sure. Sign him up Go Dees
  13. Goes forward and within seconds (it seemed) clunks a beauty and shows them how is it done. That was a wow moment for me. He is a dead set gun.
  14. In: Harmes Out: Rivers Brayshaw back to the backline. Brayshaw granted had 38 touches but think we need to make the midfield all about Tracc and Oliver - like in 2021.
  15. My Bomber mates went real hard at me for years. Very predictably (was paying $1.01) they have put up the white flag since our premiership. I have been been biding my time and haven't baited them much at all lately. Come 10pm Friday night I just want to send one word through on the group chat.......owen Come on Dees make it happen
  16. Good win. Tough conditions. Definite danger game going in and I was always just hoping for a grinding win. Conditions made it tough to pack mark. We could not get that intercept mark in the D50 or a mark down the line. Took away one of our great strengths. Happy to just get the points. Bowey and Jackson were very impressive.
  17. Yes spot on. How good is our connection inside 50 these days. No more just bombing it like the old days.
  18. Read some of the article but won't watch the video. With so many players crook did Barrett ask Scott why they only made one change at selection?
  19. Great grab from JVR! Love that left foot pass to Kozzie from Deakyn Smith. Assume that is his opposite 👌
  20. We deserve to be favourites for the 2022 flag no doubt. People often question will we have the hunger to go again. But I haven’t heard many people mention the belief the playing group must now have after winning the flag. This must be huge for us. Then there is also the pressure release of not carrying the weight of that flag drought. 2021 is only the start. Enjoy the ride
  21. Yes it could well be. Vaguely remember something coming up about it a few years back. Might be just poorly umpired.
  22. In regards to concussion the AFL need to stop rewarding players with frees that get hit high when they choose to lead with their head. Doggies will be in trouble if this ever comes in. Jack McRae free in the GF against Viney - in 3rd Quarter (centre clearance just after the Brown goal) was a prime example of this. McRae was low and just ploughed his head at Vineys knees to draw a free. Unnecessary risk to his head. If no free he would be less likely to do it.
  23. Anyone know the reason for 2 Fri night games in round 3?
  24. News reports starting with “Demon Premiership Stars……” - will never get sick of hearing that.
  25. Bombers at the G on a Fri or Sat night would be the best I think. Bombers will be talked up all preseason no doubt. Up and comer against the champs. Dogs at the G has less appeal to me. Lets play them mid year again.
