  1. Neeld has already said there are 6 gaps in the list that prevent us from structuring up the way he'd like. There is absolutely zero chance of filling those gaps with 6 A graders. If we could fill the deep marking forward gap with a role player, who'd come relatively cheaply, until Cook or Fitzy are ready it would be a massive win for us. Kosi was actually pretty good in the second half of this year and I think he'd benifit from being the main man deep forward. He seems to worry about getting in Reiwolt's way but with us he'd have liscence to attack the marking contest hard. Could be a win win imo.
  2. May not need to make any delistings if trade week goes well.
  3. Didn't Matty Warnock finish third in our B&F a few years ago. Jared had a good year but like all our senior players will need to continue to improve or younger players will pass him by.
  4. "Also why did we not take him?Even if he had been as unsuccessful as Bailey(doubtful),Melbourne supporters would have much more content in the knowledge Melbourne picked the best available coach at the time.If not he was a lot better canditate than Bailey and retrospect is not needed for that. ." Disagree with this. I don't see Bailey as a failure. Right man at the right time IMO. If Sheeds had got the job I believe our list would still be a mess. Our older players simply aren't up to it and Sheeds would've held on to them for longer and we wouldn't have had such good draft picks.
  5. I know it came off bigfooty and all but jeez I hope that mail is accurate, especially point 3. We really need to make sure we get the best possible assistants in to support Neeld. I hope they put a lot of time and effort into the appointment of the assistants as well. Very happy with the way this was handled by the club. I posted mid season that the last thing I wanted to see was a public interview process complete with powerpoint presentations. Just work out who you want and go get him, and they did.
  6. Elton, Crouch and Viney training with us by December would make me less furious.
  7. I could be wrong WJ but I thought all the kids who nominated went into the draft and GWS then auctioned off picks. So only 2 may be picked but they're all available. There's rumours that WC are interested in some of the other WA kids for example, and the SA clubs may be keen on Kennedy, so who gets picked may depend on who wins the auction. If Scully goes we'd be mad not to get involved and personally I wouldn't mind us targeting the second pick and going after Crouch rather than O'Meara Nominees: Chase Bower (SA), Adam Carter (WA), Brad Crouch (Vic), Dayle Garlett (WA), Brodie Grundy (SA), Matthew Haynes (Vic), Riley Hutchinson (WA), Emmanuel Irra (SA), Ben Kennedy (SA), Aaron Loccon (SA), Sean Lynch (WA), Todd McKay (SA), Jaeger O’Meara (WA), Jonathan O’Rourke (Vic), Jason Pongracic (Vic), Mason Shaw ( WA), Josh Simpson (SA), Jake Stringer (Vic), Shannon Taylor (WA),Jim Toumpas (SA), Nick Vlastuin (Vic),Matt Wallis (SA), Laine Wilkins (WA),Dan Williamson (SA), Chris Yarran(WA) If GWS get a good price for pick 2 they may even be tempted to open bidding on pick 3, there's some pretty highly rated kids on that list. I'd be happy to offer our better compo pick for Scully and give them a peice of paper with Spencer, Warnock, Dunn, Bate and Maric written on it and tell them they can have whatever they like, all of them if they want, for pick 2. If that didn't get it done I'd consider adding Davey or Morton to the list. Before you all say a fire sale of our rejects won't work, these are exceptional circumstances. Not only do they need some mature bodies and ruck depth but Sheedy is at the helm.
  8. Season over Tom, now for the decision. Just put us out of our misery please.
  9. Collingwood won't sack MM in the lead up or during the finals, even if he banged Eddie's wife. Would be way more destabilizing than holding on to him if they know he is gone.
  10. Hird stated several times last year that he wouldn't coach Essendon in 2011. It makes me laugh when people take these statements as fact, they may be but it's just as likely they're rubbish. It is completely implausible for MM to declare his interest in any other job until Collingwoods season is over.
  11. Just planting seeds Captain Jack, just planting seeds.
  12. We've been killed by the press all year, both of them.
  13. Heard that Lethal has said if he was 4 years younger he'd have a crack at coaching us. Wonder if we could get him for 2 years with a Neeld or Sanderson as senior assistant with a succession plan.
  14. I don't think any of the Jacks have done enough at this stage. I don't think anyone really deserves it at the moment, which probably goes a way to explain why we're playing so poorly this year. Green has struggled, Moloney's form is erratic, Davey was ordinary then injured, our 2 AA's from last year have missed periods of the year and haven't been as good, Rivers and Jones have had ok years by their standards but neither are really captaincy material and Sylvia's in the magoo's for disciplinary reasons. The one Jack who might have been ready has been out for most of the year. Trengove is 19, Watts is 20 and neither has 40 games under their belt. I understand that people want generational change, it's continually the kids who stand up in our losses, but our future leaders just aren't ready. Our list is already too slanted towards youth to cull our senior players and look to the draft. The new coach has no choice to but to back our "senior" players to refind their form from last year.
  15. I've asked you before and got no answer, so I'll try again. What exactly is it that we, the supporters, can do that will allow this club to compete with the big boys. You keep saying it's simple but I'm yet to hear what it is that's so simple. What is this programme we are not buying into? You make out we're the worst supporters in the league and it's all our fault, please exain how?
  16. Poor choice of words from Gary.
  17. I don't want Todd to be caretaker coach. Of all our current coaching panel, Todd is the one I'd most like to see retained by the club for 2012. A new coach in 2012 would be unlikely to retain the caretaker, correct me of I'm wrong but I can't remember it happening. If Bailey does go this week it's probably better to give it to Cuddles or Royal, someone you can afford to lose. I don't think Mahoney, West or Williams are ready to even be caretakers.
  18. IF Scully does go, and we get the Ablett like compo, I wouldn't mind us having a crack at some of GC's kids. McKenzie and Lynch would top my list. We'd have to wait a year for them to be out of contract but the compo picks are there for 5 years. I'm prepared to be patient building our list and both those kids fill a need for us. If we fail at the least we might accelerate the Suns salary cap squeeze.
  19. Rubbish, supporting the club isn't just slapping everyone on the back and telling them how great they are. Criticism is a natural part of any sport. I never played footy to any great level but I copped plenty of criticism. Most of it was justified and made me a better player. If you or the players can't handle it you should find something else to do.
  20. In case you haven't noticed, footy is played on field. It's not surprising people talk about that aspect of the game. There are lots of threads on here and plenty of them relate to off field matters, so I'm not sure what your complaint is. I am curious though, what exactly can I do now, off field, today, that will make a real influence?
  21. OK i'll bite. Are you suggesting we shouldn't discuss football matters on a football discussion site?
  22. I love this club, but it is NOT the most important thing in my life. If it is the most important thing in your life I feel sorry for you. It may be selfish in your opinion but I thought it was a lot more important to visit my sick mother on Sunday. Threads like this [censored] off. Sad people trying to make others guilty for having a life. Makes me feel like not getting my trident membership at all if I'm going to be abused because I can't make a game here or there.
  23. I support the club. The players are secondary. I want a premiership not a bunch of 300 gamers.
  24. This years 17 yo's have plenty of currency though, clubs will offer a fair bit for a crack at these kids. If next year's batch aren't percieved to be as good by recruiters, the other clubs won't part with much. I think GWS will strike while the irons hot and wouldn't be surprised if they offer 3 this year. If they can get a few of the first round compo picks back they become major players in next years draft as well. Sheedy seems to be looking long term. Scully, Walker, Ward etc on long term contracts, no doubt heavily front ended, leaving plenty of cap space for their kids to mature into. If it works for them they could be pretty awesome in about 5 years, but they'll be terrible for at least 2. Any club with a first round compo pick would be mad not to trade it in for an early crack at potential top 3 from what's already being billed as a superdraft. This gives a shot at reasonable compensation if Scully does decide to go, potential star for potential star 3 years behind in development, plus another pick to use somewhere else. Not against using it to try to secure an established player to offset the immediate loss of Scully. I'd prefer to chase someone young though, like a Dangerfield or a Fyfe
  25. If we lose Scully we're in the same situation anyway. Both Compo picks would more than likely be banked for a year anyway. 2 17 yo's this year that are potentially top 5 poicks next year and Viney, or 2 first round picks next year and Viney. The choice is obvious. The only problem is 17 other clubs that might be keen on 1 of those 17yo's. I think if Scully goes we'd be mad not to try packaging 1 of the compo picks with Bate or Dunn to try and get our hands on one of those 17 yo's. Maybe Spencer and our end of first round compo pick would get it done.
