SUNDAY STROLL AS DEES HAVE FUN AGAINST THE SUNS
furious d replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can one of you doom and gloom idiots, yes that's right you are a bunch of fools, explain to me which team you're measuring us against. I've been playing and watching footy for nigh on 40 years and I've NEVER seen a team that didn't make errors. Collingwood were completely outplayed in the third against Richmond, obviously they must be [censored]. If you're waiting for perfection and it seems plenty around here expect that, you'll be waiting a bloody long time. Bub show me where people are crowing and saying we've made it, can't can you because you made it up -
I think people have been a little harsh on Steph. He is a latecomer to footy and is being asked to be a real utility. Learning to play in the ruck as well as forward and back is a mighty big ask. Structure wise I think he's one of our most important players. If he can become a useful second ruck and find his feet in the forward line he could be a real weapon for us. Fwiw I think he's already a decent backman. His form will probably be a bit up and down this year as he's still learning. I missed last week as I was in NSW but I think he rested down in the backline, the real test will be how he goes in the forward line, he's struggled there in the past.

The club is obviously excited, they've sent me 3 texts to let me know Tappy's going to debut

You don't need 6 genuine stars of the competition, no side has six genuine stars of the competition. You need a good bunch of A grade players, big difference. Pendelbury, Shaw and Didak are A graders and Daisy Thomas was probably there last season at least.

We've got 14 titan, how soon can we get this thing going? Cheers IWAP, hope it stays at 14 till we get underway.
-
You've signed up but we're still at 15, another must've dropped out. Would love to get this underway today but it's not looking good.
-
Now showing draft delayed till tomorrow.
-
Can anyone else see 16 teams, I've got 15 on my league screen and we've got 45 minutes to even it up.
-
I can only see 15 still. Do you have 16 on your league screen titan?
-
We need 1 more, anyone keen?
-
You forgot Grimey, he'd be a cert for a 150.
-
Can we do the draft with an odd number of teams?
-
I disagree, I know other alliances have had trouble but no other alignment club deliberately ignored the wishes of their afl partner. Willy were apparently keen until the bulldogs told them no. They were smart enough to play the long game and not [censored] off a club that provides them with money and players. I don't see how we could "take over" Casey. Their board is not going to vote themselves out of existence. Footy rationalization has been going on since the game started. Clubs change leagues and sometimes disappear all together. Casey haven't been down there too long, they were Springvale not that long ago. I don't really see a problem with abandoning Casey the club, yes it might annoy some locals in the short term but we're playing a long slow game down there, a generational game if you will. A bit of short term pain for long term gain IMO.

EVery other alignment club in the vfl respected the wishes of their afl affiliate. The reason they did this is they know they need the afl club more than the afl clubs need them. Casey thinks they have us by the bollocks because of our agreement with council. Arrogant in the extreme from the JUNIOR partner. Our own vfl side should be a priority for the club and it should be based at Casey. The decision to recruit Fev could cost the scorps a lot in the long run.
-
Casey need us a lot more than we need them. Stand alone teams are struggling in the VFL and I don't think they would last too long if we created the Cranbourne Demons. I've never been a big fan of these alliances, I support Melbourne, never gave a toss about Sandringham and couldn't give a rats if Casey disappear into history. The club should definately pursue this option, we are committed to Casey the region, not the club. $250,000 is not that much if it gives us complete control of the development of our youth. A few years from now might be too late for our kids, drob Casey at years end.

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
furious d replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
On a bigfooty thread someone claiming to know Tom says he was confronted by an angry fan whilst he was out and about. Apparently made quite the scene. This worries me, if he hasn't made a decision fans in his face all year could make it easier to leave. -
Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week

Mike's wrong as often as he's right. No football journalist ever risks their credibility, look at Rob Walls, wrong 99.95% of the time but still gainfully employed. -
I had pick 11 but somehow that has become pick 1. Pressure is on now.

That article is pure speculation. Mike knows no more than us if that's the best he can offer -
Happy with that Titan. More time to assess my potential draftees

You start a league and I'm in TU

The thing that annoys me is the AFL approved cheating to allow the bears to dig themselves out of this hole. They should have to wear his entire salary in the cap. Recruiting Fev is one of the biggest recruiting blunders in the history of the game, certainly in the draft era. They took on a salary they clearly couldn't afford for a 29 year old well documented culture sore. Black an Power have apparently had to take pay cuts and Brennan and Rishitelli, not to mention Bradshaw, have walked. All for a player they didn't even need, the Brown, Bradshaw combo worked pretty well. Brisbane have been looking for an excuse to boot him since they realised their monumental blunder by mid season last year. As RGRS said he hasn't done that much wrong at Brisbane and they don't, imo, have a valid reason to sack him, but the AFL want's him gone and they always get their way.

You have to remember this is a Dees forum. Some around here consider the west of Melbourne a wasteland despite the fact they rarely if ever cross the Yarra

Refusing to comment if I remember correctly. Can't remember him putting out a statement denying having spoken to GC.
