Please for the love of god, no one suggest we're going to win by more than 10 goals. Not even as a joke.

How does the bidding work? There are 2 highly rated father sons this year. The Daniher kid is in the mix at the pointy end. Can clubs bid on both or one only? Not sure it can really help us unless Essendon have an ordinary year. It would be lovely to get Jack with a 2nd round pick but I can't see it happening.

Anyone need a ruck/forward? i've got Hampson and Martin and i'd be prepared to swap one for a decent defender, preferably with a decent tackle count.

Jones is just entering his prime now, I'll judge our recruiting under BP when Trengove is the same age. All this constant talk about our drafting is just a distraction from our real problem. What has happened to our senior players? 26 rounds ago Jamar was AA, Green had made the squad and Davey had just had his best 2 seasons in red and blue. Jamar needs to find the hunger he had when the ball hits the deck. I remember him having 9 or 10 clearances more than once during his AA year, these days he wins more taps but doesn't get involved afterwards. Green and Davey both look spent, neither look AFL standard any more. This makes it even harder for our kids. We are down to Moloney(inj), Rivers, Sylvia(inj) and an out of form Jamar as senior players. I don't include Macdonald because he's borderline 22. Unless we can get more out of this lot, or have 2 or 3 of Martin, Jones, Bate, Dunn, Bartram, Clark, Frawley and Garland become stars very quickly, we're stuck being ordinary for a little while yet. These are the guys we have coming into their prime now. When they are the senior players and Watts, Trengrove et al are coming into their prime this list will be looking very good, unless we sacrifice it for immediate results.

AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players
furious d replied to BarrassHarrass's topic in Melbourne Demons
Where's the apology from Demetriou? Why is Aarons apologetic call to Mifsud not mentioned? Not good enough. Misfud must resign and Vlad must apologise. The Collingwoods, Hawthorns and Geelongs of the league wouldn't accept less and we'll never be one of them if we don't start standing up for ourselves. -

So let me get this straight. Mifsud and Demetriou accuse a senior player of spreading a malicious lie about our coach and of admitting he lied, and you don't care. Even though that player denies it and is being denied any chance to clear his name. That's not a problem? Mifsud must go regardless of where he got the information, I don't dispute that. But it sounds to me like you don't believe Aaron. If that's the case you should just come out and say it rather than hiding behind weasel phrases like Thomas. -

I'm a bit surprised at the relative silence around here. We've been a bit distracted I know. If Aaron was presented with the facts and was hurting and knew the error of his ways, why is he sticking by his story and demanding to talk to Mifsud while Mifsud goes underground? The league boss has levelled very serious allegations at a senior player of our club, allegations that player denies. Did Dimwitriou take everything Mifsud told him as gospel? If Mifsud has invented this call of contrition from Aaron and Vlad has ran with it at the presser, Vlad must resign. If Mifsud has interpreted comments through a third party, attributed them to Aaron and Vlad has run with it at the presser, Vlad must resign. There's a lot at stake here. That's why I'm very suspicious of the timing of the release of the Polis filth, it just couldn't have been better for the AFL. Distracts the footy media, the fans, especially us and the club. At the same time it kills our revenue and makes us more reliant on AFL money, just when they were losing control of the Davey/Mifsud scandal. These facebook posts have been around for a while but they found their way onto the front page at the perfect moment for Vlad and Mifsud to buy a few days cover. If Aaron made the comments and is still lying to the club I wouldn't expect to ever see him in red and blue again, but I'll back him over Mifsud and by extention Demetriou because their story stinks right now and so does Mifsud refusing Aaron's calls. I can only assume the lack of outrage around here is because most believe Mifsud. Most believe that a senior player invented a lie in an attempt to have the new coach sacked because training was too hard. Most would rather that lie was buried and forgotten about because it's all too hard to deal with. The same most that continually bemoan our lack of culture, our lack of fortitude when the going gets tough. Well that starts with trust, trust in each other, trust in the group, trust that you're all pushing in the same direction, that you'll be there for each other and ther club, and that starts here. If Aaron says he didn't do it then we have to back him 100%. If he is telling the truth and we've hung him out to dry then there is no trust and never will be. -
Those posts date back a loooooong way DC. Do you really think the timing of them finding their way onto the front page is just a coincidence? Who has something to gain? If we're broke we can't afford to fight the AFL.

Maybe you should go back an re-read my post Biffen. I said if the club didn't pursue this mess and demand answers, as some posters suggested, I would withdraw my financial support. Thankfully this great club has demanded answers but the weasel Mifsud has slinked off to have some "me" time while Aaron is left with his reputation in tatters. Then today just when Vlad could really use the old subservient, broke Melbourne football club, a story is released that ends our major sponsorship deal, for things that have been in the public domain since 2010. We are under attack Biffen, and some on here have been advocating accepting the "apology"and moving on, the apology that threw Aaron under a bus. No Way! If we do that we end up the AFL's slave for ever and I couldn't support that.

Just posted in the other thread, maybe we should merge this thread with Mifsud one. The timing of this is unbelievable, seriously, not believable. Those posts date back an eternity and the story is released just when Vlad needs us to bend over and take one for him. Who was the journo that first broke this story? I want to write to the HS demanding to know at least if the source for this story came from within the AFL. It would help if they thought I read that rag so I need to know.

Thank god our club is not as spineless as you seem to think it is. I have no doubt the sponsor bombshell was released in connection to this. Who was the first to break that story? We need to demand to know if their source came frome within the AFL. This is a defining moment for this club. We are under attack and the club and us the members need to demand answers. Trawl through my post history if you wish, I'm not an alarmist or conspiracy theorist but this stinks. McLardy may have to get on the front foot soon, we have to stop the bleeding. The easiest way for the AFL to make us their [censored] is to kill a major revenue stream and that happens two days after Vlad throws Aaron under a bus to save his golden child Misfud. Buckle up people, I can see this either ending in the death of our great club, total servitude to Vlad or McLardy demanding Vlad's resignation. Results on field are secondary right now, Neeld needs to bunker down with the players and create an us v the world seige mentality atm. We are at war. I'll be buying my mother a membership on Tuesday. -

Can't believe people just want this to go away, no wonder we are the laughing stock of the league. I have no idea wat has happened here but it can only be one of two things. Either Aaron has slandered our coach or Vlad and Mifsud have slandered Aaron. There is no other possibility and I don't want either swept under the carpet. The club claims to be backing Aaron but I see very little evidence for that. If we won't back our people then Vlad was right, we stand for nothing. If it's because they think Aaron did say it then he should be removed from the group, no ifs or buts. Sweeping this under the carpet will leave me with no option but to withdraw my financial support. If it's all to hard to deal with our culture or to defend our people from the AFL, then I'm afraid it's too hard for me to support the club. -

I might start following boxing and barrack for the punching bag, couldn't be much different to being a dees fan. Agree with everything you've written and it breaks my heart. The fact that we just accept apologies and want to move on speaks volumes. If Aaron is telling the truth he has been slandered every bit as badly as Neeld by Vlad and Mifsud and every journalist that has printed it, and there has been a few. I think the reason Dimwitriou is backing Mifsud is because he wants him in the upper echelon of the AFL admin asap, for PR reasons, and knew we'd roll over. -
Hey Bruno, how about Deledio for Bartram or Boyd for Zeibell? If your just giving top 100 players away I'll take a couple.

Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes
furious d replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Knowing this was coming doesn't make it any easier. One of the saddest days in the long history of our great club. Condolences to Sam and the kids. Can't do a link on my phone but the thread on bigfooty shows the enormous amount of respect Jimmy had, not just from us demons but from everyone. I know it's not my place to be making suggestions but I'd love to see the funeral held at the MCG on Saturday arvo or Sunday so we can all show our respect to a legend. -
Cheers Andy, working now

Excellent Andy. How do existing life members get the mobile version?

Liam Jurrah: charged, on bail and discussion closed for now
furious d replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
Involved in a machete attack according to the Age. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/machete-attack-liam-jurrah-in-custody-20120308-1umsq.html Hope it's not true. -
How does the utility work robbo, does it just have to be a dual position player?

In his interveiw on Deetv Steph suggests he could be spending as much as 80% game time in the forward line. That would mean Jamar is going to spend a fair bit of time in the ruck and Steph will only be giving him a chop out for a few minutes a quarter. I've been another calling for Steph to play forward for a few years so I'm pretty happy with this. As Macca said we don't need him to be a superstar, he just needs to create a contest, bring the ball to ground if he can't mark it, kick the odd goal, and give the big russian a chop out a few minutes a quarter.Exactly the role Leigh Brown played at Collingwood. As others have said footy smarts to play forward and composure in front of goals are the question marks. Smarts can be taught and Steph is an intelligent bloke. Composure will come with confidence. I'm not saying he's guarenteed to make it as a forward but the only way to work on his deficencies is to persist with him. If he gets it right he'll be a great weapon for us.

If we win 7+ before the bye we will make the top 4, it's very unlikely. If we win 5 or 6 we'll make the 8. For the record I tipped 4, the 8 will be possible from there but not certain, we'll have to have a good second half and win at least 8.

Ablett will be gone by pick 2 and Pendels is good but not that good, I stand by my call. If you get a nibble I'll be happy to admit I was wrong.
-
That has to be the worst trade offer in history, you are seriously overvaluing your pick 2.
-
Said the same thing 2 years ago and he managed to save his career that time, he's definately up against it this time. Melbourne players have a knack for finding form in the last year of a contract, half our list is ooc at years end so we might just win the flag this year.

I might be sympathetic if I hadn't dropped to pick 14 before IWAP changed it back, bugger fairness I was stoked with pick 6. Saigon Saints firstup, seems appropriate, every time I go to Asia my eyeballs end up flying. Do we have any resolution of the scoring values situation? I was wondering if you could change it in the settings IWAP, I'm curious to see if it changes the player rankings values or if they are standard.
