  1. Looks good in the red n'blue: http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2008/12/1...441_ntnews.html
  2. Yep, big props to Haydo and WJ. Quality work as usual you blokes. Now if I can just find a way to make Friday disappear, and cut straight to Saturday, 10AM...is that a bottle of Glenmorangie I see...
  3. McCartney's write up on Watt's put a smile on my face: http://afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/2...px?newsId=69438
  4. True. I could see he and Lisle going at this point in the draft. You'd think Hawthorn would be interested in these two as well.
  5. Read that this morning. I'd heard they were keen on him, along with the Kangaroos and St Kilda had been linked earlier. Of that lot I'd say Geelong are in best position to 'take a chance' on a talented player with injury concerns. That said, I still think they could stand to pick up a key position forward, so it would be interesting to see how they'd pick if Johnstone or McKernan were around at this pick. November 29 can't come quick enough for me!
  6. How clubs rate Sidebottom, Blease, Robinson and Walters will determine whether Swift slides. I think his draft camp performance may see him rise back up after being out for almost 2 years. Seems like a cracking kid, might have been a contender for pick 1 if injuries hadn't struck. high risk, high reward for whover takes him, and I hope that's us at pick 17.
  7. That's what I'd like to know <_<
  8. Tom Swift DOB: 06/7/90 State league: WA Club: Claremont JM: Tommy will be a really interesting one come draft day because he was in our AIS/AFL Academy last year and Daniel Rich was in that side at the time and I believe there wasn't much difference between the two of them. What happened with Tom though was he did his knee in our first game in Perth on the way to South Africa and spent 12 months off in rehab. Coming back this year he had a setback with his opposite knee, not an ACL, but it saw him miss the under-18 championships. He's a super intelligent kid and didn't miss a session in his rehab; he's very diligent in his preparation and has a high work ethic. So when he came to Draft Camp his speed was good and his beep test was good as well. He didn't end up playing, not because of the knee, but he's 192 cm now and he's had some growing pains with that. He's virtually missed nearly two years of footy, but I think he might surprise a few people with how high he gets taken. Tom sets really high standards for himself and he just wants to achieve.
  9. From Matt Burgan's 06 Phantom Draft: 12 - MELBOURNE - TOM HISLOP Tassie Mariners, 7 June 1988, 184.4cm, 85.9kg Should a 'slider' fall through, Melbourne's first selection could be a fascinating outcome, yet the Demons are believed to be considering hard-at-it Taswegian Tom Hislop and Queenslander Ricky Petterd with its first selection, while key Victorian talls James Frawley and Ben Reid are also in the mix. Krakouer may also be considered with Melbourne's opening choice. Renouf will also be in Melbourne's thoughts. Hislop is likely to be a sought-after prospect from 10 to 15. His hardness and attack on the ball would compliment the likes of recent draftees Brock McLean and Colin Sylvia. Should Hislop pass Melbourne, expect him to figure in Richmond's plans the following pick and also Sydney's at No.15. Highlights/achievements: Robust and powerful player who is strong overhead and a prolific ball winner. All-Australian at U18 level this year averaging 20 disposals and ranking number one for tackles. Has an excellent speed and endurance combination being sub 3.00sec for 20m and mid level 14 for the Beep Test. AIS/AFL Academy graduate. Worth a look I reckon.
  10. Yeah, watched him on the U\16's coverage on Grand Final Day. Looks the goods. Quick and powerful, good second efforts. So does that DOB put him out of our reach under next years draft eligibility? Scully's 17 touches in the TAC Cup GF were all class. I'd love it if we got him next year. Pickering and Sheahan were likening him to Voss and Rob Harvey. Courageous and highly skilled. Definately top 3 in next years draft.
  11. Any chance of us doing a deal with Hawthorn? Article says they're still interested (especially after O'Keefe deal stalled). I'd go for a deal for Thorpe in return for Green and a 3rd rounder. Combined with drafting Watts at 1 would consolidate our KPP stocks nicely.
  12. I wonder if there's any chance of a Green for Dowler/Thorp trade? Sod pick 29!
  13. Michael Walters, Suban, Lynch, Broadbent, Ash Smith, Chris Hall, McKernan and Zaharakis look like being available at 17-19. I'd be happy with any of them, and wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them was taken higher than expected. All of them are pretty good users of the ball.
  14. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/duo-...3013793038.html Article on Tom Swift (and Jackson Trengove) from the Age. I really want Swift at pick 17.
  15. Did Cam Bruce run over your puppy or something? Steal your girlf...oh wait, scratch that. Were you booing him when he kicked the goal late to get us back in the game against Brissy this year? How about when he kicked the go ahead goal against Sydney to kick start our season in '06? Did you boo him when he kicked 7 against Carltank? You slam our 'supporters of mediocrity', but what about the negative, narky leeches who destabilise and divide the support of the one club everyone on here loves. I'm all for healthy debate, but petty slander of players and other fans just comes off as childish, and leaves you with ni credibility or respect.
  16. If Christopher Hall was available at pick 35, I'd love for us to pick him up. Takes the game on and is a classy mover with terrific skills. Tom Swift intrigued me from the beginning, and his 20m sprint time has only added to that. I wouldn't be disappointed if we nabbed Michael Walters or Matthew Broadbent either. For varying reasons I get the feeling whoever gets any of these four kids will think 'gee, how did this kid fall into our laps?'
  17. When was Morton a CHF? He played most of his junior football for Claremont and WA running along the wings and flanks. He has key position height, but don't think he's played much KP because of his twig-like body shape.
  18. I get the feeling he is still going to be eligible. Maybe a January birthday?
  19. Watched your boy play for NT this morning (ripper game, Tas holding off a fast finishing NT to win by 4 pts). I can see what you mean about the Buddy comparison. Big lad (made his teammates look like midgets by comparison), strong and goes in hard (good 2nd and 3rd efforts) and seems to have good pace for his size. His kicking was off (1 goal 4 I think), commentators mentioned he's a confidence player (much like Buddy). Even though he didn't have the impact he would have wanted, plenty of good signs. Really looking forward to seeing how he develops.
  20. 1 or if we lose enough games 1 + 2 (a real possibility). GC don't pillage the top 15 picks till 2010 draft. I think we'll have a decent play at one of May/Scully/Butcher. I think they have dibs on Qld youngsters in 09, but not sure about that.
  21. Under the current draft age eligibility, he can be drafted, but the rules change after this draft. Theoretically, under next years rules, he would be ineligible for this draft.
  22. Yep, I believe he is. 23. Here's an article on your boy: http://www.starnewsgroup.com.au/story/47250
  24. Going on our performance this season, we may have a crack at May next year. I'm looking forward to gaving a look at him on Saturday morning when he runs out for NT. Coverage of the U16 Champ finals will be on AFL.com: http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tab...px?newsId=68066 I'll be paying close attention to Tom Scully in the TAC Cup final Friday arvo as well. I expect May and Scully to figure prominently in next years draft.
