Lloyd said Weid will look for a new home. MFC said it doesn't plan on trading him. Those things don't cancel each other out.
  2. A Hawthorn player’s partner claimed that he had been pressured to leave the home they shared, in a desperate email to then-President Andrew Newbold, but her pleas for help were dismissed, according to the club’s explosive racism Review. But Newbold – now an AFL commissioner – says he never saw the emails and definitely had not responded to them, though could not rule out someone else in the club having done so on his behalf. Asked on Tuesday night by the Herald Sun about the alleged exchange, Newbold said: “I did not author that email. “I want to refute that absolutely. It’s not my language I would use.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The player’s partner went on to tell the then-club president in another email that she was experiencing “severe anxiety attacks”, “vomiting blood” and “can’t see the light anymore”, amid her stress over the situation. An email identified in the report as being from Newbold responded that it was “not appropriate” that he become involved. “I have spoken to Jason who is familiar with the facts as I am not,” the report detailed Newbold as writing on Monday, March 25, 2013. “Your issues are really beyond my scope of expertise and influence. I’m sorry but it is not really appropriate that I become involved.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In additional comments made to the Herald Sun on Tuesday night, Newbold said: “Those emails as I understand it went to my hawthornfc address, which I had no access to. “I haven’t seen them, I don’t know who they are from. I haven’t seen the report, which is appropriate. “I’m told there is an email around 23 May, I have checked personal email box and I have no emails form any complaints on 23 May 2013.’’ Told it was in March, he said: “Whatever, I’ve checked. I did not write that email.

Would guess it would be more complicated than we can be bothered going into as well. Pick swaps, future picks, salary percentage etc could be all part of the negotiations I imagine.

Hope so! Just know, at least under Mahoney, we were always just kinda 'no fuss' it seemed. Could be lots to play out before the Jackson deal which will change/add picks, especially for Freo.

Freo do the deal for Port's pick 8 then... Freo get - Jackson Collingwood get - Freo future first Dees get - Pick 8, Grundy Reckon that's a realistic scenario.

đŸ€”đŸ€”đŸ€” “There is no doubt that Casey Fields, if it is not already, will transform into one of the states’ premier sporting and recreation destinations, and probably even be an exemplar nationally,” Mr Boardman said. “With future investment and leadership at this end at by those who are tenants and advocates and promoters of the precinct, there is no doubt in my mind that in 20 years post, all of the aspects contained in the master plan will be fully realised. High hopes for Casey Fields

It's just an indication of the players worth on the market. Let's not take this to silly places now with comparisons based on awards and premierships, we all recognize there's more to it than that alone right? Anyways, we're not getting Naughton either way. I'm tapping out as promised.

    Haha not bad mate.

Rising Star, Premiership player. Who would go first if they were being drafted this year? Rate Naughton very highly, but we're talking market worth here. I'll leave it at that, don't wanna back over it too many times. Understand if others have a differing opinion on Demonland.
  10. Lord Nev replied to Engorged Onion's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
It doesn't eventually, but for 20/22 year old key position players it does IMO (unless they're complete duds). Where would Jackson go if he was in the draft this year? How about Naughton? Guarantee you 99% of people (outside of those on Demonland who have now turned on him and are desperate for a key forward) would have Jackson going first out of the two.
  11. Fixed it for you.
  12. Lord Nev replied to Engorged Onion's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Given their ages it clearly has an impact, albeit not a main one, on their worth on the trade market. Again, would love Naughton, be unreal for us, but in terms of trade market worth Jackson would be higher IMO. As good as he is, I don't see any clubs being willing to offer 2 top 10 picks and a million a year for him.

Jackson - Pick 3, Rising Star winner, Premiership player, 20 years old. Naughton - Pick 9, 22 years old. I get it, I really want a key forward too and obviously people have 'turned' somewhat on Jackson on Demonland, but you guys are kidding yourselves if you think their worth on the market is the same.

Would need to take in the whole big picture of everything, but yeah absolutely.
  15. Lord Nev replied to Engorged Onion's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Sure, with Jackson leaving I'd be happy if Naughton replaced him, but what I said was "worth", and IMO the market worth of Jackson is higher than Naughton. Of course, you would note that in the trade scenario we'd be trading Jackson AND a 2nd rounder for Naughton.
  16. Lord Nev replied to Engorged Onion's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Pick 32 is our pick. Jackson and 32 for Naughton is clearly overs.
  17. No there isn't.
  18. Lord Nev replied to Engorged Onion's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep, fair point. I don't really see us having a chance at him barring the long shot of him being one of the players who (apparently) doesn't like the culture and sees a split in the group. Now, should we still be shopping at the end of 2024, Naughton not re-signed, and Ben Brown finishing up with us.....
  19. Lord Nev replied to Engorged Onion's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Jackson worth>Naughton worth IMO (let alone chucking in a 2nd rounder as well)

One for the 'I'm offended by modern society and overreacting' crowd...

Ah yes, I'm sure Collingwood would sack one of their best players on a huge contract just simply off the basis of 1 social media post without investigating to the nth degree. Not an over the top take at all... Do they? I don't recall saying anyone anywhere saying Clarkson should be immediately sacked, let alone '99% of people'. Couple of classic red hot takes here mate.
