  1. And Sydney are desperate for a No.1 ruckman. They hold picks 11, 22, 30, 41. I highly doubt they give us 22. We should go for Picks 30 + 41 (points equivalent to late 1st round pick) We can then trade 24,30,34,41 (2368) to GC for Pick 4, whilst retaining Pick 15. What people don't talk about is the power we will have over GC. We can call in all of their Academy picks at pick 5, costing them more points than they would have planned for. We could use this force them to trade with us over say a Bulldog's. This leaves us with 4,5,15 in this years draft (before any compensation) Options from here: 1. Take 4+5 to either WCE for Pick 1 2. Take 5+15 to Hawks for Pick 3. 3. Take 4+15 to North for Pick 2 4. Take them all to the draft.
  2. Our midfield group can’t all have 30 plus possessions. Sparrow is a defensive mid who rotates into HF. 15-20 is about right for him. His KPI will be more about pressure acts, tackles and other defensive metrics. The fact that he can kick a snag or two is great. I’ll maintain my view that we need more kicking class off HB that can also play through the middle. We also need to start looking at our wingers and planning to replace both of them in the next 1-2 years. Being able to run up and down is not enough to cut it. You need to be smart and be able to influence the game from the outside. I hate to say it but Langdon has been worked out - his impact on games is to a much lesser extent than prior years. All duck no dinner? Liam Henry will be an upgrade. Give up a current and future 2nd I think. That’s if we are even talking to him. Alternatively, If Gus gets back to it, then I think to preserve his career and health, better if he stays on the outside and has proven he can play wing.
  3. Terrible decision. time to move on.
  4. Let’s not forget how many of these pundits are employed by the various shows that McQuire owns the rights too. So if it is a line ball, you know which way they are going to lean.
  5. It’s not the reason we lost but it definitely factored into that poor 1st quarter, which in the end did make a difference. Now the larger reason was what you mentioned, but let’s not overlook the obvious that it did impact the players and for a game decided by 7 points, it made a difference.
  6. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Wouldn’t it be weird having Ratten work under the bloke who he replaced at the Saints?
  7. This will lift spirits I think.
  8. I think this thread pops up a couple of times a year. I know, you know it, the whole footy world knows it. Problem is 1) game plan, 2) average kickers, 3) no playmakers forward of the middle. All three midfielders are class but cannot lower their eyes or hit a target under pressure. They have to have drilled into their head, look for the chip kick in and around the 40m mark.
  9. So Gawn has been playing with a broken toe for a few months according to McClure.
  10. That for me was a step too far. I lost what little respect I had for him and actually couldn’t believe it tbh. Browny was Browny trying to play the mediator and was arguing the rules around smothering and that Maynard would be unfairly done by being called out on something that wasn’t written in the rules. Christ Scott was more accepting of the suspension and that he personally doesn’t see it has a suspension but that he would coach his players not to do that knowing that’ll likely be a suspension in the current game. As others have said I think Lyon was drunk as I had no idea what he was in about.
  11. Should have left him with concussion protocols.
  12. No - it was mentioned on the footy media circuit that he wanted it thrown out and would put his job in the line. Took 5 hours of discussion with the GM to reach an agreement. Corporate speak for your sacked but you have 4 weeks notice so look busy and we’ll announce at the end of the season.
  13. Is there footage of this? I wouldn’t mind going on a bit of social media rampage.
  14. It was said on couch that he would put his job on the line and it took 5 hours of discussion to reach a compromise. I highly doubt he will be there next year.
  15. When i read this post, i noticed his comments were blocked. Real rock solid piece of reporting there. They are going full media blitz with this.
  16. Maybe it will given its now a Friday not Thursday. I still expect to be outnumbered but itll be closer to 60:40 this time around, maybe even 55:45.
  17. The other thing i noticed was that Collingwood had about 5-6 players sitting at the top of their D50 arc waiting for a turnover. They clearly have the fitness to continue its execution, however i dont see how they can beat the lions with this gamestyle. I agree with Goodwin in that we played the right way and that the Pies were really lucky with their conversion and ability to convert when they got out the back. If we do somehow getup against the Blues and Lions, i think we will get the Pies on GF.
  18. Still have trauma from Thursday, wasn't going to go, but couldn't help myself. Q50 Row H.
  19. Precisely. At some stage before he left the ground he would have known contact was inevitable and unavoidable and he did nothing to mitigate the extent of impact, in fact he did the one thing that would almost ensure a disastrous outcome by turning his shoulder.
  20. They are indeed. You can spot them on every social media platform. They usually start their responses like ā€œI’m not a Collingwood fan butā€¦ā€ I do manage to stir a fair few of them up so for brief moments of time I am moderately fulfilled.
  21. It’s all we need right now. Wait for some reporter to put it up on Twitter in the hour.
  22. The various quotes from Trac ā€œfooty is just one thing… brain for life..ā€ doesn’t sound like the right things you want to hear regarding Gus’s immediate football career. I wouldn’t doubt that his family and loved ones are not telling him to give it up. If he was my son, 100% I would be having the discussion. We know he considered giving up earlier on and the severity of this knock may have just pushed him over the line. If the fact that this is being considered is to be the case, it has to be submitted to the hearing to set the tone on the significance of the impact on the player and the club. It is such a profound incident and I cannot believe how the footy world and media are not rallying behind him. It’s outright disgusting.
  23. Think of it this way. When a players goes to spoil a mark, is late, hit the head and causes a concussion… what happens? He gets 2 weeks from the MRO ala Jack Martin. The spoil is a footy action as is the smother as is a tackle. The onus is on the opposing player to execute the footy action as safely as possible and you take full responsibility when it causes a concussion. In retrospect Maynard should have dived at his feet, jumped vertically or even jumped forward in a way that he lands 1m to the left or right of him. All of these were in his control and yet he decides to jump right at him. It’s no different to a bump IMO. And given the significance of the injury , the game and the time at which it happened in the game, I’d be pushing at least 6 weeks if I was the AFL.
  24. We left at least 3-4 gettable goals on the table. Get those and this is a non story. Kozzy missed 1, Lingers 1, Fritta 1-2 as well.
