Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
58er replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
Another negative comment. On No 3 on Cal Twomey’s listand UK just dismisses him outright. Must be in our 3 or 4 to be picked with our No 5 draft choice. -
Do you say anything good about our players? I believe Kozzie can go another level that’s what you do get him to fulfill his ability not get rid of him. M

While I commend your post and your knowledge I would shorten your list as prefer Lalor from 5 and Tauru if we get 13 or close ( could be 14-20 wh knows. ) Want to pick you up about Caddy and Windsor of last years draft. To be upset that we got The Duke is a bit churlish. Was a definite need for pace and skill last year and fills the bill. 250 games in the centre directing the ball forward will alter our ball movement with others with skill and pace supporting him. Not that Caddy is not a talent he looks a very good forward in the making but Caleb is a ready made classy mid with exquisite skills is tough pacy and has a footy mentality. While there are ample mids I think we should get a good kp player if available. Looks obvious you don’t think Jeffo will be a forward which I disagree. He has all the earmarks of a forward with a forwards brain and skills. He may not be a key position immediately but will end up there. Our forward line needs guys that can finish and MJ fits that bill. But credit on the draft chances available let’s hope we pick up two three draft winners and some supporting f/s or nga backups. Oh and surprise with a B+ or above trade pick.
-
Yes he is. Not a second round pick.
-
Posturing I would believe
-
Not completely Clarry’s fault. He could have been held back at the start of the season to gain further fitness that could well have contributed to a better season.
-
Won’t help finances at all. We need prime time and marquee games still to keep financial credibility.
-
What ai would say is that I don’t want 5 already we have and say the 13 on offer to get say No2 and only one player from that trade. With the draft depth a 5 and 13 is very good prospects for two high quality mids or a mid plus a high quality key position player like Armstrong or Faull depending upon other trade choices of other Clubs.
-
Well Sam McLure has been mentioned again about July concerns but it was just a repeat of his usual statements trying to stir up trouble. As for the action of approaching other Clubs the Board and other personnel may not always agree but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong if agreed by the relevant committee/officers involved. Plus last nights statement from President Brad Green indicates that a decision on Clarry has been made and he will not be cleared. Deep down I believe he is happy with that show of support and I have no doubt that with his strong mind once training commences he will get to work. When Clarry commits it’s a 100% all in and I see no reason for that to alter now that a decision has been made. The Board cannot pre determine findings in the Reviews and the staff and other stakeholders would be well served having the same attitude. After all that’s what you have a review isn’t it?

Wrong this draft is consider DEEP that means plenty of depth with quality choices for first second and into third round. Mids and later on key position players of quality are prevalent this year.
-
You have picked out ONE case and ONE season does not determine a flop win or loss.
-
Surely there is a need to go through each trade swap to see if this sweeping statement is true. Anyone have the info to test this comment? The mere fact that our swaps have also enabled us to improve our draft picks positions while they picked up their GC Academy boys does not necessarily mean a loss vs them in value.
-
I think he is a little further ahead in his first year than your Bluebagger flushed eyes have judged. Consistency is one if his form lines already. You may be surprised but I hope he moves into the centre position this year to maximise his skills and elite disposal plus his potential to kick vital goals in general play.
-
Yes I think there is a resemblance of some sort. It is hard to exactly pinpoint but both look effortless and move atop of the ground and have similar kicking skills on both sides of their feet.
-
You make some outlandish statements RIF He has a good profile for no AFL games so far and is very versatile in ruck back or forward. Probably equivalent or ahead of Jeffo in experience. Good size also. Hope we can lure him for next year.
-
Not sure you are serious either. D/land is degenerating fast in the news etc always criticising Other websites. To get basic info you need to read afl and Melb websites.
-
We didn’t play Saints at Marvel in 2024 was in 2023.
-
Trouble is he hasn’t hit anything to do except play footy. That’s why I don’t think he is all that serious as long as he plays in the AFL. Could prefer us probably but will forgive and forget any current misgivings.
-
All Ralph was pointing out is the great opportunity we have with that pick no as the variety of players in the top picks is very wide and available. Also see how good was no 5 last year also later on he mentions Caleb and how good he was. So is just demonstrating the strength of our pick 5 in this 2024 bring a very strong and variable draft opportunity.
-
By the way he planned this family so he would have realised support is valuable also I believe is only Melb that is probably too big for him allegedly. Any Capital city is going to be larger than his natural surroundings but as always things like health opportunity and friendship are balances.
-
But there is already some family support in Melb I understand.
-
Wrong I believe it’s already No 25 as per Shane Mac and a complete swap.
-
People seem to accept that a request is automatically agreed to. NO it’s not. Each case is treated on merit and how it affects the Club say in next 2 years and even if a deal can be done through a pick no or a player. Players have signed long term contracts and because things went result or form wise not to our liking or theirs doesn’t mean it is time for a max exodus with a variety of doubtful excuses used. Time to be strong Dees we are attempted to be walked over by all and sundry. Unite and gain from a crisis!! Only way to go.

Stop trying to ensure your horrible curse still has any powers.

What should he say ? The real situation as best can and will be solved ? The Media Gossip ?The spin doctor approach? Give an honest statement of generalities and guarantee to put a stop to it? Resign and ask for a Presidential nomination from the floor from Demonland.? Ask if WCW is still alive and available to mediate as she loves/likes Clarry like we all mostly do and want to keep him? I don’t think hardly any/ or many of these questions will be answered except for a short statement the club can give on the situation which might be hopefully solved today in negotiations/ discussions with Clarry his Manager and the Club to go forward.
