  1. For starters, all clubs are heavily impacted by what’s going on, so it’s not the fault of Melbourne. Geelong said they’ll be over $10 million in debt soon for crying out loud. We’re certainly in a better position than the likes of st Kilda as well, and the other clubs will have a similar fundraising program going on, so not sure why the aim is being taken at the club here.
  2. Gee whiz mate, all I’m saying is that simply kicking more goals is not the only way Oliver can be elite. I’d like to see him kick more goals, but what I’d love to see is him kicking the ball more instead of handballing, and we’re already starting to see that. I also think it’s pretty stupid to think the supporters somehow has more an influence on a player than the coaching staff. Some people really need to calm down about Oliver. We keep forgetting that the bloke is only 22, and yet people are still complaining.
  3. Good comment, but Cripps isn’t much of a goal kicker at all but still the best current player to compare Clarry to. Oliver can become an elite player but that doesn’t mean he has to become a consistent kick for goal. Most elite teams only really need to have one of their mids who do that, and we have Petracca to take us to the next level in this regard. We would be better off comparing Oliver to Sam Mitchell, who was never a real goal kicker, but still an absolute star of the competition in his prime.
  4. That’s probably not the best way to look at it. Richmond didn’t do a full rebuild through the draft when Hardwick became coach, they instead built a team of largely mature ages (initially) around their core young-at-the-time players Cotchin, Martin etc, so there’s more than one way to rise up the ladder successfully instead of just going full youth.
  5. Well don’t I look silly
  6. Lever hasn’t proved “yet another bust” at all, so I’m not sure what you’re on about. He hasn’t had a clear run at it since his knee injury, and I’d say give him another chance this season before calling him a failure IMO. He still has a clear opportunity to prove himself a success.
  7. Yeah. Thank god we got Cale Morton instead. Oh wait...
  8. Fair comment, I just think that the culture is a byproduct of how the organisation is run... and Melbourne is no exception. I think the clubs properly run now but it can only be judged in hindsight, and how many games the team has won of course.
  9. I really don’t think that’s how it works mate. While neeld was coach the club was evidently managed poorly but the higher ups and this was reflected in the on field performance. By the time Roos came on board the players were bereft of even the most basic skills of an afl footballer, and he noted this numerous times. I seriously doubt you can put this all down to ‘culture’, as the club was always going to be improve by putting the right people in the right places, both on and off the field.
  10. 2010 was when junior and Bruce left. That year we seemed on the up, being competitive against many top sides (1 point loss and draw against Collingwood being the biggest examples). It was the year after where we were beating most bottom sides one week but were getting smashed by top sides the next. The absence of those two leaders was one of the reasons why that happened.
  11. Sorry mate but you’re absolutely delusional if you think that one rule change is the difference between us finishing 4th and 17th.
  12. Robertson said the exact same thing with the facilities
  13. Well for one, you can see Sylvia in that photo, and westjet weren't sponsors in 2015 so it was before then.
  14. Settle down champ, no need to get personal.
  15. Look I think it’s funny as hell but let’s be honest, you’re just here because it’s another excuse to sink the boots into the club
  16. You're on fire lately mate, love your work. @Mach5 Any input? You've been quieter than dees fans in september.
  17. Anyone know how much preseason he completed?
  18. I swear him and TGR are the same person
  19. I really hope that this plan ends up being a reality. I know this is Melbourne we’re talking about, but i actually have faith that the club is being run professionally for once, at least relative to the other clubs. So I’m quietly confident on this but you never know.
  20. Come on mate, if we drafted Green he wouldn’t get a game in the foreseeable future imo given how many inside mids we already have. He’s literally another Clayton Oliver whose bid would’ve been matched anyway. I reckon it’s okay for teams who AREN’T rebuilding (such as us) to draft based on need.
  21. Not sure if taking the [censored] but it’s almost like he was already locked for GC aye?
  22. Not sure if quality comedy or peak demon nuff
  23. It would have been a Ross Fiasco instead. Even Clarko would have struggled with us given how poorly the club was run back then. Are you for real mate?
  24. Well your info is certainly seemingly more credible than mach5’s. Is this the same source that told you months in advance that Harley was keen to play for us?
