  1. Hang on. On that logic, preliminary finalists last year would then suggest we don’t. And the fact we had to move Hogan on to get May suggest to me not only was it picks we needed to get the deal done, it was also salary cap relief.
  2. Yeah I understand that but at what point does it become too much to fit into our cap. If it cost us Oliver and Harmes/Gus/Tmac or any other player of significant importance is it really worth it? To gain one gun we could lose 2. I’m not sure I want that, but if it doesn’t then yeah by all means get him. Thats part of list management I guess.
  3. He may cost too much. He’d be asking upwards of $1M per year which is probably too much. Just gotta pray that Weid can step up. What’s Whitfield’s contract status at the moment? Is he OOC at years end? Or did he resign recently. Would sure like him on the wing and unlikely to cost that much.
  4. Yep. I agree. There were steps last year where we fought against adversity. The win in Perth, where no one really thought we’d win, the first of the finals where majority of the public thought the experience of Geelong playing in multiple finals campaigns would knock us off. No doubt this year has reared its ugly head but let’s see if that flakiness has more to do with personnel rather than history of our culture.
  5. Neeld certainly didn’t shield them and you can argue during that period is probably the worst in club history. So clearly that doesn’t work either. The skill level is bad, the connection is bad but injuries play a big part and you’d have to ignorant to overlook that. If you look at our back 6, just about every first picked player is out injured. Jetta, Hibberd, Salem, May and Lever. Then you look at our forwards. Melksham, Vanders, Hannan, Smith, Nibbler. There’s another 5 of 6. The only area where we’ve had some stability is the midfield. And most games so far we’ve dominated in that area bar today. The season is done but let’s see if things change as we start getting some players back.
  6. So you expect the coach to come out and back the players for all the world to see? C’mon SWYL. I know you’re frustrated, as well as I am but to suggest that is wrong. How did that serve Neeld? No doubt that he could be giving them a serve, but that’s behind closed doors. One good thing about Goodwin is that he’s measured and composed in front of the media. But don’t grill players to the media. As soon as you do that, the players will lose respect for him. And I don’t blame them.
  7. What he says to the media and what he says behind closed doors r two different things. He’s not Neeld ffs. Im surprised no one is looking towards Chaplin. He’s the one I have concerns about. I’d love Rawlings back coaching.
  8. Or Melbourne is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gunna get.
  9. I’m with you Rusty but not to a point of someone getting rubbed out, but definitely to a point where they cop a fine. I would’ve loved a similar response to what Viney gave Rance a couple years ago when Rance clocked Watts in the back of the head, or the melee that happened at 1/4 time the year before. But that could be a reflect of Roos and Goodwin.
  10. Rubbish. If Viney was around, he would’ve push and shoved Vardy and ragged dolled him to the ground and shoved his head in the dirt. It was a time when we needed a lift and no one got there hands dirty for their teammate. Great sides not let [censored] like that slide. Imagine hawthorn and Brisbane during there 3 peat letting that go... highly unlikely.
  11. Indeed it would. We seem to like getting away from Melbourne and playing games on the road. Over the last couple of years we’d have to be just about the best traveling team in the game. I’d like to see our recent record if anyone has that handy? Maybe this week is one of those times where we get away, get a result and change the rest of our season. Mill have my nuts crossed that’s for sure.
  12. I hope you’re right SWYL but I can’t see it happening. I worry about two things. 1. Our scoring power and connection with our forwards 2. This is the major issue at the moment. Our defensive transition. We get scored so easily on transition because our mids don’t work hard enough the other way. One example of this was Holmans last goal. He got got his first possession from that free kick, passed it off, ran straight passed Omac, received it again, handballed it over the top of Oliver, who should’ve blocked his path or stopped him from running past, instead runs straight past only to receive the ball again and kick the goal. This is simple stuff that can be fixed but it’s happened all year.
  13. Keilty most likely to go for Preuss. Omac should be but who replaces him. I’d keep Garlett in. He’s getting to the right spots, he’s just fumbling at the moment. He’ll find some touch. Trac was our most dangerous forward tonight. Won most if not all one on ones when the ball is on the ground. And gus, he’ll b right.
  14. Yeah Melbourne did against Geelong. But that probably the only times it’s ever happened
  15. I think you’ll find that once Lever is back in the side, Lewis will be out. Lever reads the play as well as anyone, full of leadership will impact many contest as that extra defender.
  16. Serious question. Does anyone think there’s going to be some changes in the football dept in the coming weeks, or even in the next week? Something needs to happen.
  17. I’m glad I moved away from Melbourne 2 weeks ago. Don’t have to watch that [censored] [censored] anymore. Nothing worse than having to spend an hour just to get home after a game like that. Now I can just stay at home and watch a movie on the couch. Unfortunately about 47,000 people have been extorted by the MFC. Let’s take them to court.
  18. Yeah we’ll i smashed my water bottle after the goal they kicked after that non call
  19. Here we go. People making negative comments on something they know absolutely nothing about.
  20. Let’s not get into semantics here. You know exactly what I mean. Goodwin is delivering his message by talking, in response to a question he’s been asked verbally. When people say ‘less talking, more action’ or words to that affect, in response to a player or coach who’s holding a mandatory press conference, you have to shake your head in disbelief, or maybe laugh and shake your head at the same time.
  21. I think you’ll find otherwise
  22. Well talking is the main form of communication ?
  23. I think he was highlighting the fact the 666 rule was introduced to increase scoring, but it doesn’t seem to be the case given the small sample size we have so far. It didn’t need to be introduced and I agree with you the fact that a good game doesn’t necessarily need to be high scoring, rather than a highly skilled, physical game of football.
