What myths and memories are made of. I remember the longest goal I saw as a youngster, it was a drop kick from the wing, sailing high and going straight through the middle. 1968, a Minyip (Wimmera district) player, all were in awe. It was the talk of the town that week.

Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing
kev martin replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sometimes it is in his head and not skill based. Getting confidence could be a big step towards clunking them. He is quite intelligent and reflective. He knows the problem he has of not being clean. Acknowledgement is a first step to change. He mentioned the marking and fear of the big boys to me in his first year on the paddock (just a passing comment which did surprise me). His body is stronger now and he appears ready to impose himself. He is clean at ground level. Hoping he can do the aerial thing as well, and 2021 is his year. -
Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing

I thought he was more likely to be first to the ball drop area and then he gets crashed into. Good that he could usually bring the ball down infront. I like his goal kicking routine and hands are getting better at marking. Would like to see his arms more forward of his head so becomes more difficult to spoil. -

I think it is about toughness and presence. Would love to see him make physical contact and time his leads as he pushes off his opponent or just out bustle them. I think he tries to off foot them to make separation but his acceleration or deception is not good enough. Wish he would also crash some packs. Time for him to impose himself in there. -

Hopefully that is what will happen. In the early years at MFC, he was scared. Confidence and support could lead to courage. His body is strong enough, skills are good, get his head in the right place. Finding separation is also his Achilles heal. Seemed to always have an opponent or two in his space. Good that he recognises that. -

Someone asked her for her negatives. I thought there was some humour (festivus) in the reply. You could ask her for some positive aspects, maybe she will give out some more laughs. Stay with us @deegirl This is the year (2021), fingers crossed.

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/shock-move-melbourne-city-to-relocate-in-bid-for-more-fans-20201214-p56nda.html Looks like Melbourne city soccer club is building a boutique stadium out there in the Casey sporting precinct . Hope we stay in the MCG precinct.

Bob, that is exactly what I did. Chips and not a bus ride. The pack was sixpence. I still enjoy walking.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY
kev martin replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the link ChaserJ. Bowey looks like a leader type. Directing at the stoppage in the kick down field area. I like the spread he does and is happy to link and receive the ball. Twenty to forty meter kicks look good, though not all great. (The same for Laurie). I wonder if they both have a longer more penetrating boot? The close in play, with quick handballs and choosing the right player showed he has some vision and footy IQ. Can find space alone so must have some acceleration. Laurie may be a lock down/run with type (tagger). Wasn't first to the ball, more followed the pack, not overly quick, nor a natural reader of the play. Liked his defensive job and works to keep the ball in his area. That low centre of gravity (strong hips), will make it difficult to be pushed off the space he chooses to take. Worked his way into the game. Didn't see them get front and centre to rove the pack. Which is what we need. Both like to tackle, were clean with their hands and seemed to bring others into the game (not selfish). -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
kev martin replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
So we have one of the premier forwards in the present game! Well down MFC. Good hands, hard to match up on, works at his craft, kicks straight, loves to lead. I can see him getting on well with Max. Seems to have similar natures. Not aggressive, though determined and maybe a bit of character. Hopefully fits into our team of comraderie and connection. Would love to see some aggro and ruthlessnes, perhaps others can bring that, We are looking a tall team, with most of them quite agile. Bring on the craft, Go Dees. -
I am the one sitting next to Blair, dark hair. Which one are you moose? @MrMoose Brings back memories. He also played for E.Malvern as the full forward. Couldn't run easily, but was always kicking goals.

Would love to see the AFL/MCC decision makers let us use it occasionally. The ground keeper could indicate when the surface is good, during minimal game weeks. The session should be private/closed., (no security risks) as we can't have closed sessions at either Gosch or Casey. The argument for the other clubs is, why not allow them to use the number one ground and our spiritual home sometimes, as Gosch's is sub-standard. Allow us to get some home ground advantage, like the majority of clubs have. Some of our home games are interstate and at Marvel, which adds a bit of a balance. Is the grand final an advantage to us though ? Hoping we make a few this decade, even take the lollies.

Bring him back to the MFC. Get Burgess to work with him physically and Gawn to motivate him. Set him up as an assistant coach if he can't crack it. He did get to observe Hinkley's methods.

Great to hear them talk about wanting to make finals. Not just making up the numbers, but wanting and voicing, top of the ladder. I remember them saying in 2018, that they did not talk about finals. Goody said, "no fluffing around, accepting close". Heard no fu.k.ng around at first. Thought I heard Oliver say he wanted to thank him "self". He said he wanted to thank Soph. Both made me chuckle.

I've attempted to contact the administrator via the "contact us", for them to help delete the mis-information I wrote. Thank you for the heads up Ethan. Much appreciated.

A dunny with a view would be mint. Put a few in a row, rooms with a view. We could be MFCSS, Melbourne football club [censored] storm crew. Put some of them up on a pedestal, the top shelves, create a pooing (pecking) order and they can urinate on the club from upon high. Just joking, supporter bitterness comes and goes like the tide at the sewage works. We could be a river to the people.

I want to see training facilities that are equivalent to the other clubs.
-
On a walk in India, a women ahead stops on the path and drops the deuce. I was shocked and somewhat disgusted. In Paris they are finding semi discreet places (the walls near the Siene). The aroma fills the morning air. Similar to the lanes near Aussie hotels. In Australia it is an illegal act. The club could have a zero tolerance policy and set good examples to the community.
-
MFC the destination club, you to can squat and use a tent to train out of.
-
Quite often the other ovals are used by, soccer and rugby teams. Therefore no direct route.
-
The start was about someone trying to embarrass an AFL person, with photo of public urination. I indicated that the urination is flowing down at Gosch's, on a regular basis and they should be embarrassed by our amateur facilities. I finished by indicating that we have a sideshow of training facilities and could go hubless. A truck and a tent, no wonder we underperform!
-
Was thinking, they could take the training on the road, with the truck and tent system. Invite the juniors and seniors, and include workshops for the local coaches and administrators. Would not be much different to what they do in The Alice. Become a modern community club by showing off our drills and procedures to the grass root AFL (inner suburb, outer suburb and regional area). Give back to the many.

They don't use it and it seems they aren't instructed to use it by either elders or the leaders. Probably 4 mins if they ran! Takes me the 10 mins.
-
You are right, though, I have not seen them use either or return to Aami Park. It would mean a ten minute disruption to the group, They choose to hold it or let it out "bush" style. Need a porta loo on site. A proper change room, a secure place to keep their personal belonging and some sort of shelter for all staff and players during inclement weather, should be the minimum of facilities. There is no effective place for physio work. A place to sit down, talk and to review video immediately, I thought, would help. Then get out on the field and repeat. (Especially direct feedback on goal kicking routine and team structures). At the moment they only have a tent and the back of a small truck.
