Had a chance to prove we are ruthless. What did we do? No effort or desperation, back to doing just enough. Fourth quarter blitz, get our game going in case we make finals.
-
Roped the dope. Ess, had the impression after the first, that it was all too easy. Now to see if ruthlessness is in our game. We should go on with it and win the next two quarters. Mids working well, the team finding space, great pressure and tackling. Liked that we tried a different game plan in the first and then got into our fast style in the second. Need to be able to switch it up during the quarter.

Noticed on last nights Fox AFL program, video of Freo training in Cairns and the dogs on the gold Coast. Hoping the acclimatisation helps Freo, and the dogs do a FIFO on Sunday.

Do Melksham and Hibberd play well against the old team? I'd like to see Sparrow in for either Melksham or AVB, (probably Vanders out). Jackson in for Fritsch, Hunt or ANB. Probably Fritsch out, so to keep the structural balance. Hibbs in for Jetta. On the fox daily sports news I noticed that Dogs are training on the Gold Coast while Freo are already in Cairns getting acclimatised.

Not in the gender fluid expression of humanity, where people are what they feel they are. They are also supported to be "that", by a more accepting society. There are bigots out there who want to tell others to be like them. Have you not heard about the trans community?
-
Not in this modern, more accepting, and less bigoted world. Your aunty could have balls and still be your aunty.

We win a close one again. Well done Burgess. Baker got us rolling, great goals. Can't wait for Pickett to get those easy goals! Rivers in every position. Backline held up well again. Langdons' run and connections, so consistent all year. Weids needs to find some space and separation.. Unsure about Melksham, on baller run with opponent tonight, but wasn't convincing. Also thought Fritta was off his game, although never stopped presenting and trying. Liked VDB 1 percenters and that he looks composed with the ball. Umpires got GWS into the game and they had a fair run from them. They seemed to be able to hit us in head or take our legs out. Deliberates were judge inconsistently. Why do we still let the other team score multiple goals as we score 1. We have to stop their momentum surges. Be desperate, become ruthless and harden up. Great last quarter. Hoping for more connection between Gawn and his mids. Gawn's work rate and some crucial marks were important, as was Mays'. We can hope to sneak into finals contention. Go Dees.

I'm really torn between, they have no ticker, or they will surprise me. If they surprise me with a win, will they then surprise me with making the finals? [Hoping so as would love them to be in the final series. I think it is the place that Goody flourishes. Home and away is the process place, where as finals, have that emotional hit inherently that his style misses.] Eight changes, plus getting rid of their leader leaves GWS chaotic. We should do them, given their form and the chaos. Though we arn't all that better and I am not confident of which team turns out for us. The extra days break and we have more to play for may get us there. Lose and wholesale changes will hit the club for next season. C'mon Dees, heart, hard and smart.

We need that pressure game to come back. Hunting in packs, sticking tackles, picking up the spilt ball, and in general, getting to the contest. Does Goody call it, playing our "brand"? Would like to see us dispose efficiently when under pressure, with no clangers and plenty of disposals to advantage. I don't want us to be competing in the same space against each other. Know where your mates are and help each other. Bad luck about Hibbs, good Nev gets a run at it. He can create good chemistry with others and is a team first player. Worried about the forwards. Some high percentage inside 50's conversions will help. Only 3 changes, at least a little more stability. The opposition, not much of chance to train, will suffer team structure problems and cohesion due to 8 changes. They will be playing a more natural game, so there should be lots of holes we can take advantage of. Keep Cameron and Green quiet and we could to steal it. Though they do have a good looking list. Do the Dees want it more and are prepared to put their bodies on the line as compared to GWS getting a roll on and playing skilled football? Bring the pressure, go Dees.

Makes the season a bit more even, though not completely, if they play 28 games. Would like the fixture after everybody has played each other, decided on where on the ladder they sit. Could make them into qualifying matches to the finals, with only 6 spots available and not 8. The FINAL quarter should remain at 20 minutes plus time on. Lots of things can change with such a big number of games. Therefore should be more flexibility to reorganise squads.

I don't get why it wasn't 50 meters. The head sacrosanct, unless it is the lesser players and clubs. Choose to bump, put his shoulder into the head deliberately and feet left the ground. No protection from AFL incorporated.

Thanks Ethan, edited.

It also takes me to the last unread thread, thank you. Though I cannot 'edit' the page I wrote on.

Thanks demonland, I like that when I open a topic it takes me too last page. Easy too see as well.

We do have a chance to still make the finals. So as Dazzle did, I retract. Go with the strongest team possible. The periphery players will get the chop if the list numbers are reduced anyway. Team B HORE May Rivers HB Hibbs Lever Salem C Langdon Petracca Tomlinson HF Smith Weid AVB FOR Pickett Fritsch Melksham FOLL Gawn Viney Oliver IC HARMES Preuss Hunt Baker Outs: ANB, Bedford INS: Hore, Harmes Maybes: Bennel for Melksham Wow, playing again with a 5 day break! Is that 4 games in 14 days, plus our travelling? A good thing GWS arn't much better. GWS has its first 4 day, after a couple of 5 day turnarounds, against us. With some travel from Adelaide. I have some confidence of a win after reflection and GWS's loss. Go Dees.

I'd take him back. Great when the ball is in his hands. Nice kick, great turning ark, difficult to tackle, big ego. He will always be upset with others not giving him the ball and can get lost for awhile. I think he would try hard with us if given a chance. We dealt with the many issue he had fairly and sympathetically. Actually I think we need him. Our forward line would be the WA boys, Pickett, Jackson, Hogan. Hogan could settle them in to MFC so they don't get homesick and want to return west. Something like, the grass isn't greener or better support here, etcetera. PS. I'd also take back Watts. I'm invested in the players that we go through. Watty would help Gawn out. B, nearly A graders both of them.

Play the 2nds. Out: Oliver, Viney, Melksham, Lever, Gawn, Hibbs. In: Dunkley, Chandler, Hore, Spargo, Brown, Tmac. See if they are any good. Play Spargo as a mid for Vines, can he get the ball. Chandler for Melksham in the hope we can develop some crumbing forwards who also have defensive abilities. Dunkley for Oliver. Give Oliver a good break and get him primed for next year. The same for Lever (Hore). Gawn needs the break. Emotionally and physically stretched. Give Tmac a chance to resurrect his career as a backman, to replace Hibbs. If we make the finals then they will be well freshened up, Petracca and May, stay for the leadership and that they are holding us together.

More than disappointing again. So many steps backward. Goody in his pre-game interview, “We are process team, not guided by emotions”, or something like that. Well the process is flawed or even non-existent. Emotion is a great motivator and can cause positive outcomes. He must have been defending his no spray policy, or his inability to get the team hyped up. Need a goal kicking and forwards coach. The routine of young players in the system is lacking. Rivers attempt to kick his first goal was rushed, and he appeared stunned. Pickettt can't kick them. Preuss poor decision, out on the full and not trying to hit up. Crumbers can't get to the ball drop. Smalls trying to mark or making leads only to be beaten by taller players. They don't know how to be in the best areas to get the ball or to hold it in the forward area. Why have we so many passengers, is the process not to include them all? It is obvious they don't help each other be part of the game. We are a club of 6 to 8 players. The Goody's favourites, the rest don't seem in it. Building relationships, what hogwash. Too many players getting to the positions Goody wants and not playing a natural game. (The same game most have been playing since the under 10's). They can't do 'the take it' on within the process parameters. Also like to thank the AFL. Three 4 day turn arounds and one off a 5 day break, plus the different game day grounds and training places. Why didn't Bartlett give them another public spray after Sydney? Someone has to get some emotion out of them before the game. Wow and shocked.

That's a tad pessimistic Wise. What about our inside 50 conversions? Which has been our bane. You'd probably say in the low 70 -80 %.
-
Will our periphery, C and probably B players have a big mpact and not just perform the roles adequately. Would love to see some strong developmental progress in these players. Hoping the mids continue to score goals. Expecting our forwards to perform with conversions and straight kicking. Melky and Hunt to to get a handful of goal assists each. Bedford and Pickett to give headaches, at the feet of Weids and Preuss to the opposition. Backline struggled for one of the rare times last week. Can't see it happening two weeks in a row. Gawn and Viney to get their synchronisity right. Vanders to kill someone (sorry just joking), to straight line a few with his tackling. Amazed Mihochek played this week. Hoping for consistency with at least three goals a quarter. I wish I could say no turnovers or brain fades but I am not so confident. Switch on Dees.

Thomlinson may rotate through the backline and wing. Hunt, Baker and Vandenberg rotating with mids and wing. Preuss and Gawn rotating in ruck and forward line.

Don't like it. Too many changes lately. They bring in players that haven't had a run this year (Bedford and Baker). There are only 3 games of the home and away left. Why haven't they been picked in earlier games? How are they supposed to develop match fitness, cohesion and be given time to cement a spot, (short term fixes), setting them up to fail. Those that have had a run are not picked, Jetta, Bennel, Lockhart, Hannan. Selection committee really have no idea of developing a core and stable playing group. Freo go in unchanged. Four of the changes all to the bench. So not much enthusiasm for them. Hoping, Pickett, Hunt and Vanders make an impact. We need them hard, intelligent and motivated. Preuss and Hibberd should do their jobs. I do like that we have pace. A few lucky to still be there, Smith, ANB and Melky. Too many passengers this year. C'mon Dees finish off the home and away season with some momentum.

Hey Optimus. I would like to see a comparison with an exported legion. Played at MFC, and moved or was moved on to another club. I am not very good at surfing the net to find them. Some of my favourites are ; Greg Wells, Stan Alves, Ron Barasi, Greg Parke, Shane Woewodin, Jeff Farmer ,Scott Thompson, Darren Jolly

Especially when they had to travel. The trip across the creek to East Malvern shattered them.

The description was mine to describe what the trajectory, not the clubs. They were attempting to shape the ball by pinpointing to the receiver, over the opposition zoning infront and before the defenders behind . A few would do it, though many just did the slow, floating lob. They used a word to describe the pass, but I can't remember it. They practiced it numerous times, in drills and simulations. I could see the benefits when they got it right. Wrong and it was a turnover.
