  1. It is only a joke, though repeated, it is good to be able to laugh at ourselves I think it is much better stereotype than most of the other clubs. Means we are generally, financially stable and enjoy adventure. Humour based on classisms. One of the last bastions of politically incorrect statements allowed.
  2. The tiges need to get a win. If they are any good then it will be a great game. They looked flat against us, with lots of passengers. It won't be, happy training sessions with lots of jokes. They also have one less day to recover than the dogs. Dogs gave GWS a look in, up until the last quarter. Dogs should be favourites. The tigers try and win the easy way. That is with minimal time in control of the ball. They can go quickly when they have it. The rest of the time is like an arm wrestle. Lock it in, get stoppages and force turnovers in dangerous areas. Their system didn't work well against us. We absorbed the pressure, gave some back and repelled from our backline.
  3. They have given us a bit of motivation. We will review and talk about them pushing the line to whack, take cheap shots and niggle us. Goody can fire us up the next time we meet, and get us combative right from the start..
  4. I think they should mix it up. Try new structures, see if they fit. We have some great endurance runners who are working hard up and down the field. Can see Langdon, Oliver and Tracc, putting forward pressure in there, as Tmac, Jackson and Weid move up the field. Our smalls lock the ball in the forward area. Didn't see Melksham or Jones doing much of that. Our smalls crumb the packs. Didn't see Melksham or Jones doing much of that. Moving a small/medium out of the structure may give more room to Kossie, ANB and Spargo. Kossie, ANB and Spargs have been running all over the field. . Really not sure if the like for like, is absolute.
  5. It is only an opinion. The other player are big boys and understand if that will happen. They probably know he is not at his best and got him through to his 300th. Someone has to make way, so we can find our best fit and get others match fit to AFL standard. Jones and Melksham's best attributes are linking, assits into the 50, and 1 on 1 play. Melksham seems to be boundary side, and not getting enough of the ball. Jones is linking well but not putting enough quality ball into the 50 area. Our inside 50, and 1 on 1's, are being dominated by Fritta. I'm sure the coaches have told him and others of their expectations. He will be there in the wings, come injuries or underperformances. Why be so assertive with your own opinion? It could happen sooner or later.
  6. Injuries through the season will unbalance us if we don't give players a run after playing well for Casey. We need cohesion with a good 26 to 28 players. There must be some with niggles, to make way for those knocking at the door. Rewards for good play in the 2's, must be there. Tough decisions for the committee. Jetts, Baker, Weids, B. Brown, Bedford, Lockhart, Chandler, possible ins. Harmes will get a run in the 2's, as well as Sparrow for an entire game, (IMO). Melksham, Jones, Kossie (managed), Jordon (managed), Fritta (managed), Rivers (managed), Spargo (managed), possible outs. Thought Fritta got hit a few times, River puts his body on the line, kossie had a hit to his leg, Spargo, I was exhausted just seeing how hard he worked, Jordon playing on hard nuts in the middle of it. My guess would be In: B. Brown and Weids Out: Melky and Jones
  7. Would like to get @Half forward flankback on the thread. Hff if you're out there, come back into the fold. We are flying and I for one, would like your input. He left the "D'land" when he felt bullied or misunderstood for his opinions about a couple of threads.
  8. We took control and maintained it. Great defensive line. Amazing effort. Good system, working together, knowledge of each others strengths, marking again, not many brain fades or unforced errors, matured play. Have we broken the Tiger? There backs are against the wall now. See if they are up to it this year when they play the dogs. They did look ordinary, lots of forced errors. Others have difficulty playing well against us. We have such a good press, and run with game. Aren't the players happy? Aren't the supporters happy? Stick to it Dees, it is a long season, and we are in a great place to belt it, (Hate to see us fall). Thanks MFC.
  9. Let's break them.
  10. Changed our strategy to doing more handballs. Giving them no space. Taking out their best players. We have a fairly open forward line when we move quickly. What will the brain trust think of this quarter? Gee Tige's make tbe opposition earn it when we are around the ball, mostly line ball I would say. C'mon umpire, protect the man infront or with the ball.
  11. With Oliver sliding through.
  12. What is the atmosphere, there at the G?
  13. Two emergencies, one medical sub. Perhaps 3 emergencies with Petty.
  14. How was Sparrow? Did Vanders play?
  15. Will we be flat? High emotional game with the build up, Anzac, Chunk and 5 nil start. We have been training with the smile on the dial, which must help with reducing anxiety. So hoping for the right amount of stress to get us up, and playing good footy. A player buy-in (selflessness, confidence with system) is going on and we have some mature players and leaders. So if we are looking off, the adjustments of strategies and change of mind set could happen. Will the tigers dominate at some stage? They always seem to have a couple of 10-15 minute periods in the game, when they get a run of goals. Seems to come from their pressure causing turnovers or unforced errors. Play our style not theirs, be perfect most of the time and stay angry. Hoping they fall off the pace and are not up to the combat we may create, this early in the season. When they score or after we do dumb things we will need to stay switched on and play harder and smarter. Otherwise they hurt us, don't drop the heads, keep the confidence, get the ball and make the tempo appropriate to the situation. Hoping Vander's, has been showing them how to straight line the tackle and not to let them start dancing. Remaining anxious, as my expectations sway between yes and/or no. Go Dees
  16. Well, they really have to earn the spots now, as well as having pressure for places. Give Sparrow a run in the two's, Weids as well, Petty or Chandler as sub, probably Chandler. The structure and system will be our weapon if we start losing. All know their roles and cohesion should be improving. They would have talked to Weids about consistency. Congratulations Jonesy, please show us some of your magic.
  17. Good we can take a joke at our expense, and laugh along with it. If not you, you or you, it was some of us. We are not alone as a club doing the doom and gloom. It is just the first time in ages we have turned the losses to wins. When we fail, it will back. Hopefully, in the 2030's. This is our decade to shine, or its sack the lot of them (joking).
  18. I haven't been to training for a while, though what I saw there and when playing, is Fritta can lead into any space that opens up. Has an uncanny ability to pop up all over the place.
  19. Prefer collywoobles, as a description of their finals loses.
  20. Or the sherrimons, who own the sherrin football. I would have guessed, they call us the lemons
  21. Makes it easier to hold the ball in the forward area. Create a stoppage or a maul, pulls the opposition down the ground. Allow us to get repeat entries, if we set the kick behind play properly. On another area, I would like to see us play less zoning and a bit more shoulder to shoulder defence especially when they are in an uncongested area. When the Toges move the ball quickly, they seem to find loose players. They create overlap well and have the ability to deliver with good angles. We need to continually pressure the ball carrier and the outside runners. Their swarm against ours, will be an interesting aspect of the game.
  22. I hope we have a very combative game. Hit them all hard, give them no space, play angry. Make it a we are here moment, great opportunity to set us as the team to beat.
  23. Give us more. MFC are great at being open to the media. Encourage them, I enjoy it, Gone are the days of hoping for an elaborate write up in the newspaper, or a game review on tv following our Sunday time slots. Most media exposè, is motivational to players, the positive or the negative, can be spun by the coaches. Fluff prices I'm not sure, so easy just to ignore. The bathwater stuff though is the problem. I hope Toges are drinking it morning, night, and day.
  24. What a great match to get. Saturday night prime time, Anzac eve, against the proven bench mark. The other Anzac game of Colly and the Bombs, has nothing really going for it other than the rivalry. We have to be in with a good chance. Don't want to be blown out of the water. The Toges would love to reassert themselves, hoping they are not that good this year and we bury them, pop their entitlement bubble. C'mon Dees, perfect footy.
