The pressure will be there regardless and unfortunately, he will be looked to as the saviour. And to people who say they are not sold, haven't seen him play.
-
Or anyone, just not Bartram/Bode. Far to small.
-
O'Keefe is decptively tall at 188cm and is way stronger than Barty. Will throw him around, if Bartram is on O'keefe I will be astonished.
-
In: Valenti, Whelan Out: Frawley, Bode Bode will probably play. Which isn't a shocking decision, may as well see if he can do a Garland. Frawley out, there isn't a match up for him bar O'Keefe and he will be dominant. I was going to say Valenti will be suited to Sydney shut down game style, but they have changed that. They are both shut down and free running, so I just want him to play. Him and Wonaeamirri could be some of our few good stories out of the year. Match ups. Warnock on Hall Garland on Magic Whelan on O'Keefe

I would love Alywn. However people need to realise, how much would you want for Aaron? Thats the measuring stick because the grass isn't greener, Aaron is the better Davey. He may seem like a star but he really is just a goal sneak with a famous last name so I wouldn't give up the world for him, prefer to get excited about Wonaeamirri as our goal sneak.

No one gets the chance to kick 6 + at Sandy with Sautner in the team so I doubt it. Would have to be Wayne Carey to even have a chance.

Before everyone get's stuck into Cale Morton?
Demons 32 replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
Welcome and a smart post, a rariety sometimes. Lets get all the games we can into this kid now while we are crap enough for him to learn, then when he is developed the team will be and he almost certainly be best 22, at this rate he is going to be one of the fastest players ever to 300. -
The other thing is, teams are dumb when it comes to ruckman, because they all need them. We could probably steal a draft pick after 35 for bloody Jamar.
-
I personally believe he does. Great leap, can mark and has incredible speed. People downplay his skills but they are not as bad as they make it out to be, they are at a fine level for a growing 198cm fijian kid. People are expecting him to kick like TJ, well of course he can't. Just because he is the number 1 draft pick doesn't mean he won't need coaching, an AFL coaching staff will be able to fine tune his skills and he, in my opinion could be a very damaging CHF. I would love to have Warnock as our main ruck next season, with PJ as back up, White retired. Natanui just playing at FP for a season and pinch hitting in the ruck.
-
Agreed, it's definately Natanui, only possible chance of being ahead of him is Rich and that is only if it is West Coast, and even then despite reports is probably unlikely.
-
I don't think Buckley is rubbish who we should hope is gone in 2 years. I also still have hope in CJ. Agree with others. I believe we desperately need to finish on the bottom to fix the ruck issue, Natanui and Warnock should sure us up for 10 years with PJ, Natanui could be molded to be a forward. I beleive we don't have that big an issue with running half backmen. Bartram might only get better, Wheatley is already very good at this, I have high hopes CJ, Petterd, Grimes and Garland may also really help with this in the future, I hope. Our midfield lacks genuine pace and skill. Jones, Beamer, Mclean are all real goers who will be playing for MFC for years to come, which is great, but we need some class and pace in there, Davey is becoming a midfielder, and should be persisted with on a wing. I believe Buckley has the pace we need, just needs to work on his skill, but can easily see him best 22 in 2 years time. But still, that's not enough. We really need to find some pace/skill from somewhere. Morton, has the skill but not the pace and will eventually be molded to be KPP I believe. Im praying we get the number 1 pick. So we can add Natanui, Warnock, pick 17, 18, Grimes, Maric, Morton, Buckley another late draft pick gem, we hope! This is going to be our core young guys to help Mclean, Jones, Sylvia, Garland, Bartram, Wona etc. Get used to these guys, they are our next chance. On the forwards issue, if Bailey can do for Newton what he has obviously done for Garland and Warnock then he very well maybe our next FF.

I could easily deal with playing, Freo, Port and Swans in Canberra. That would be over 900k for the club. We currently get 1 million in CBF. Next season we will get 250k. We need to gather as much short term profit as possible, the Casey plan is definately a good idea, but we will not see the results for a couple of years. Therefore we need to get something to help us in the short term, this will cover the CBF we are losing plus a tiny bit more. This mixed with what I believe will be 30k members next season with the excitment generated by Stynes, Mcnamee, Bailey, the young kids, the new captain and hopefully the best young player in the lead and marketing dream Natanui. Naturally the hype of the number 1 draft pick will wear off on some fickle supporters and they won't re-sign in future years, but this should buy us time in eating away our debt. Hopefully in 3 years when the hype and Canberra games are over the team will be performing enough to boost membership and merchandise sales as well as attendance. I really hope we can get the extra game and would like the MFC to try to get 3, which will be very hard but I am quite happy with 2. We need this deal.

CJ - Is the most tampered with player from the Daniher era. I strongly believe he will be a great player for Melbourne and by seasons end will be best 22 going forward. Just needs to be given a continued oppurtunity and not dropped because of one bad performance. Valenti - Probably deserves a few more goes this year, he has learnt his craft at Sandy, he is past VFL development, I want him play just so he can prove he deserves to be elevated next season. Buckley - Could be absolutely anything, could also be depth. May as well give him a fair amount of time to figure it out. Im praying he will be what I can see him being, an out and out star, possibly. Newton - Want to see him give it a fair dinkum crack!! Is definately worth giving a fair go to, at the very least to just see what he can give, if nothing, fair enough, what did we lose in this year by seeing if he could be our FF. Hightower (PJ) - Not sure what to think, definately deserves his spot right now. But with the possibility of Warnock and Natanui on the horizon it's strange for him going forward, personally right now I rate him higher than Joffa, so hoping he can excel in the 2nd half of the season so we can have him and Warnock as our number 1 and 2 rucks next season while Natanui develops mainly up forward. Dunn - I like whats happening with him, Bailey is trying to get us our own skillful tagger which we haven't really had in Godders, JMAC and Barty. He has come from a club whos number one tagger is the extremely skillful K Cornes and has obviously seen the way other players like B Rawlings/C Ling have changed the taggers role. You need to be able to attempt to stop your opponent, but sometimes the best way to stop an opponent is for them to know that you could hurt them with the ball in your own hands. Frawley - I like Frawls, he has been struggling a bit which is expected. HE IS 19!! and im willing to give him a few years. However as of right now, Warnock, Garls and the doctor (rivers) are ahead of him. Those 3 players back up right now.
-
Come on Dazzle, take the blinkers off, got those 3 possies in the 1st quarter, then gained a ton of it in the 3rd and 4th. Buddy Franklin and Wayne Careys love child wouldn't have touched the ball the way we were getting killed in the 2nd quarter. Your better than that, he is averaging 17 ppg as a forward and kicked 3 goals against Collingwood, he is having a good season and deserves at least some credit.
-
Who are you talking about? Better not be Sylvia because im getting really sick of people bagging him, has been good this year.
-
Bell, firing this season? No. Bell, complete dud with no awareness this season? Yes. No way in hell does he deserve a call up. Whelan before Bell everyday of the week.

I actually agree, I jump the gun on this a bit because I constantly think he needs to see if he can do it at senior level while we have no Neitz and Robbo. But im still getting used to life after them this season, he could easily play Sandy this week, prove he deserves it and still get 8 games at AFL level towards the end of the season. I personally hope the best for Newton, because we kind of need him to deliver on at least some of his hype I think.

Demons 32 replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nah can't have that, id never get in haha. You are right but I would not like to shun other Dees supporters and I know you wouldn't either, but the quality of discussion has definately gone down lately, however I would not like to put people down, as I was new once and I bumped heads with a few prominent posters. Everybody has a right to an opinion, no opinion is wrong, just really poorly argued. The Mclean thread is total rubbish and alot of the stuff I have read regarding, Sylvia, Morton, Miller are also rubbish. -
Dno why people want Martin in already? He is not ready. Pretty simple changes this week. In: Newton, Whelan Out: Yze, Bode/Frawley Whelan Warnock Bartram Wheatley Garland CJ Davey Jones Green Bate Miller Bruce Sylvia Newton Wona White Mclean Dunn Morton, Jmac, PJ, Bode/Frawley Warnock on Hall Garland on Magic Whelan on O'keefe (or Frawls if he plays) Newton might be unlikely and it would be a large show of faith but we need a tall forward who can take a pack mark.

OMFG I was!!! and he was!! named in the best on the radio when I was driving home, named in the best in the Herald Sun today and named in the best in my own mind. He presented, he pushed hard and won his ball, tried to create but couldn't just because some of his kicks were to cute and some very crap doesn't mean he wasn't good. He used his limited body size to create contests, layed some very nice sheppards, and always ran to the right spots without the ball. Take your eyes off the supercoach points and concentrate on what he is doing with and without the ball. Look what he has to kick to etc. I disagree about him going to Sandy. There is no need yet. He has just come off a weeks break at HOF game and a week off with sickness. I don't think I ever said you personally bagged him, I said SOME morons in this thread, not ALL the morons. Good to see some other posters agree to, because it's true if he gets 20 possesions next week and 2 goals he will once again be the messiah. Demonland, is slowly but surely turning into bigfooty. -
Bartram - his season best Bate - not enough work Bode - didn't do much Bruce - had positive effect Davey - is not fit Dunn - be more damaging Frawley - still to young Garland - a fine game Green - should be captain C. Johnson - a good game P. Johnson - pretty good yesterday Jones - gave it all McDonald - tried as usual McLean - a leaders game Miller - kicked some goals Morton - presented really well Sylvia - some critical touches Warnock - dropped easy marks Wheatley - an outstanding performance White - not horrible yesterday Yze - still to selfish Wonaeamirri - doesn't like TD

This thread has some morons in it, for an 18 year old guy like Morton who could still play TAC cup cause of his age he does damn well. His disposal isn't bad, the issue is he is to cute with the ball, he is very cocky and tries to be fancy. He was actually one of our best today, people get to worked up in stats, he presented, he ran, he applied shepperds. It was not his best game but calls for him to be dropped for a rest a greatly over done right now. He was put forward for a bit today and you can't argue with his presenting, and leading skills, didn't give up and was good to see. We all know he needs 10 kilos. No [censored] he does. The thing I find stupid is when he plays well he is the messiah then suddenly he isn't good enough yet. Open your eyes and see he is a bottom aged draft pick trying to create something in a crap team and build his career. If you honestly believe his kicking issues lately are a lack of skill you haven't been watching, if anything he is to skillful, which forces him to attempt the impossible TJ like kicks when he should go the easy option. -
I was happy with Johno, took the game on, had good skills, found some of the ball for the first time EVER!! Deserves spot next week.
