Clayton has fallen off a cliff, probably the terrible mismanagement of his pre-season has done this. Trac has been given license to get more forward, less impact in the middle. Viney in bad form, maybe slowing down. Sparrow will never break out. ANB is ok depth but shouldn't be attending as many bounces as he is. Kozzy is ok in limited spells, but like Trac he is a forward half impact player, playing him onball takes away from our scoring. Salem, no idea why he has been deemed a midfielder after 8 years playing off half back, just another brain dead decision by the coaching staff. Rivers, actually showed promise late last year, can't move him through there this year though for reasons unknown. Brayshaw retiring really hurt us, club should've done a better job when it came to the decision to retire him. We needed to know before the trade/draft period, this has [censored] us well and truly.

Where are the clowns who find every excuse under the sun for our poor performances this season. I want to hear the excuses for this rubbish.
-
To quote Christian Salem: "We wanted to get off to a good start after last week." "It was dissapointing we didn't get off to a good start today."

No the reality is it comes down to money and opportunity. McKay playing 2nd fiddle to Curnow is hardly going to worry about playing with Brown, Petty and JVR. We have Ben Brown on our books when he was cooked in 2022, we've only just now found use for McDonald after two mediocre years as a forward. Brayshaw was a killer in that he retired post the trade period but going for his money is written off as well. We should have the cap space available to entice these players.

Windsor has been impressive to this date, but if we used what we had available to us and the futures market that we couldn't have prized a Naughton or McKay out of their homes? Your shout about Tex is perfectly reasonable, I wouldn't have been against giving him a chance so long as he did commit to improving himself like he ended up doing while still at Adelaide. The point is the club felt that what we have currently is good enough and I can't be satisfied with that. How can you make the list actively worse through the trade period when you're in a window to win a flag? (Note: I said trade period, our drafting hasn't been an issue).

We have our own data scientists that give us all the same numbers champion data see. They know all the key areas you need to be the top 1 or 2 in to win a premiership and yet here we are doing what exactly? trying to reinvent the wheel? What are they actually discussing week to week when they say they need to work on things and improve them? because whatever they're doing is not working. I disagree with the idea that if we just played the same away as last year we would be fine, because we had two seasons of a sample size to show our forward entries were going backwards. However, the drastic change to ball movement from our back half is doing more damage to us then if we didn't change anything. We needed to be aggressive in the draft/trade period to actually go and get a proper KPF. A team vying to win a premiership shouldn't have the ghost of Ben Brown, two defenders turned forward and a 20 year old kid manning it's forward line. I'm sure people will say "well, who was available?", as if their aren't key forwards sitting in teams at the bottom of the ladder that wouldn't want to win a premiership. I am very confident Tom Fullarton wasn't the only key forward available last pre-season. The other problem I have is our centre bounce and clearance work. It irked me last year when we stuffed around with the mix of players we put through there. I was skeptical pre-season when it was suddenly decided Salem was a midfielder. We are getting absolutely murdered in the middle. Oh and guess who our midfield coach is now? the coach that came from a team that used to sack off clearances.

considering how pathetic we were without him yesterday this is a massive loss
-
What has our list managers done that's left us in a situation where we our best key forward is 187cm. JVR has shown some promise but he is as fustrating as Petty at times. Petty was a premiership defender and we throw him forward because we can't trade/draft any one [censored] decent.
-
You could say the same today against the Eagles, we didn't get blown out in qtr 2 and 3.
-
That doesn't really make any sense? What are your parameters here? We were awful against Brisbane (but we use a travel excuse), Carlton we were awful for 3 quarters (but because we did well in one quarter that undoes all before it). What about Round 1 against the Swans? We can go in on some past season performances if you wish as well.
-
This isn't the first time this season we've been bullied.
-
Back home from the game now. Every single player was pathetic. Billings and McAdam absolute fumblers, no good. Gawn, Oliver, Viney, Petracca, May and Salem, if you want to be paid well, you can't pick and choose when you turn up. Absolute garbage from all of them. Ben Brown shouldn't be getting games, he's finished.

Thoughts on the balance of the side against the lions? To me it's very telling that Salem goes down and Woewodin is playing half back for the rest of the game. Felt like between Woewodin, Howes, McVee and eventually Oliver we couldn't get the matchups right down back. Then if you look in the forward half, JVR, Brown, Fritsch, Petty and Tholstrup provided little to no pressure on their opponents and were often getting bodied in marking contests. Obviously, injuries are a part of the reason for this issue but having no genuine second ruck to relieve Gawn is forcing us to play a very tall forward line that is nowhere near as mobile as even the Lions tall forwards. I would like to see one of Petty/Brown dropped out the side alongside Salem and Tholstrup and then bringing in Moniz-Wakefield (to play half back) and Pickett/Taj (in the forward line). Thoughts?
-
Not sure what the thought process was to pick Kolt tonight. He hasn't done anything to look even remotely close to being ready and you fed him to the lions (no pun intended). This was as bad as sending Watts into play the pies on QBD.
-
6. McDonald 5. Rivers 4. Gawn 3. Langdon 2. May 1. Lever
-
For 3 quarters that was the worse we've played in a very very long time. The backmen can hold their heads up high, so can Ed Langdon and Trent Rivers(if you don't include him as part of the backline). Rest of em utterly terrible. Also, how we added Grundy(lol), Hunter, Schache, Billings and McAdam to a premiership list is a big reason why we haven't won another flag. Utter [censored].

holy [censored] ben brown did something, he isn't lifeless lamp pole
-
Not tonight were not
-
Stop whinging about the umpiring. We are second best and lazy.
-
This is simplistic. We are down in all areas aside from goal accuracy compared to last year and we are getting smoked by a team that is going moderate to good in all areas aside from accuracy. Just so happens there slotting them tonight.
-
-
Massive win. ANB was superb. Also, well in T. Mac for getting into Rozee after that head flick during the tackle AND well done to Lever for getting the group together and getting them composed after it.
-
So many players were atrocious tonight. Talk about a captain's performance from Max, dominated by a guy who couldn't get in our 22 last year. The worst part of the night is yet to come, the dreaded Goodwin press conference.
-
I tell you hwat, any chance Petracca, Laurie, Howes, Van Rooyen, Schache and Chandler don't fumble the ball?
-
McVee at 4 is perfect, a decade of the 4 off the half backline.
