Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
Still thinks heads are going to roll from this. This season alone the club dragged Oliver to try get a reaction from him and then everyone has tried to cover their own [censored] instead of owning up to the fact they didn't handle the situation well. When have we ever been in the news more than this season? Everything we do is wrong it seems.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
Jeffo's stat line the last 5 weeks where he has seemingly found his feet is: K H D M T G B 6.2 3.8 10 3.4 2 2.6 1.8 If he improves on that for the next 5 weeks and we are sitting anywhere outside the bottom 8 then I would say throw him in just so he can get a taste of the AFL level.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
Key defenders: T. Mac can stay as a key defender (unless he wants to retire), Tomlinson will likely be let go, he's wanted out forever. Tall defenders: Turner should be a defender, swinging him forward is in line with my number 1 gripe at the club, moving magnets to cover weaknesses we've failed to trade/draft for. Half backs: Likewise with Salem, he isn't a mid, move him back to halfback. I feel as if his move to midfield was to justify a place in the team when he was out of form at half back because of the money he is on. I'd rather Rivers move as a mid over Salem. Inside midfield list is suddenly very light. Outside mids: again, very light. I don't see Windsor or Langdon having the ability to start centre bounce either. Keyforwards: Kentfield is a complete unknown. Fullarton i can garuantee is a dud. JVR's progress actually looks better when you keep in mind how woeful we are with our entries. Jefferson, god help the kid as people begin to latch onto him like we did with Weideman. Rucks: Another year in the legs for Gawn. Sole ruck at 33 this year, another area we must get cover in. Can't believe we didn't address this properly. Retirements: I thought Brown and Melksham would retire for the last two years but they keep stick around. Both out of contract now though, so lets see. Delist: Schache has a deal with the devil in that he can never be off an AFL list. Hunter, Spargo, McAdam, Laurie and Billings are warm bodies. They make up numbers so we don't have to recruit 12 players in one season.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
Ever since day 1 I have been skeptical on Sewlyn Griffith. He came from Brisbane and was heralded as some genius, but Brisbane where always far from the fittest team in the league. Then he starts implementing his own programs abandoning what we had done under Burgess who had real world samples proving we were fit. Every time we lose there's always some excuse about how we are loading this week and that's why we look leggy. We never looked leggy in 21? I'd rather Roffey stay silent for once. I actually took some encouragement from Goodwin's press conference yesterday. It only took an absolutely disastorous performance to smack some reality into this club. All our wins where we scraped over the line with clear issues, all our losses being written off due to alternative excuse when the clear problems a lot of spectators can see are not being addressed. I'd rather Goodwin not be sacked, here is his chance to prove himself, surely now he can't hide behind the W/L record and past glories that are fading into distant memory. Fix the midfield, fix the forward line and fix the gameplan.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Fremantle
Just remember, everybody had excuses after the Swans game, the Lions game, the Carlton game, the Eagles game. Can't wait to hear them today. Fremantle deserved everything they got today, we were hot garbage. Too many magnets being moved to cover weaknesses in the team have left us looking like a bottom 4 side.

Deep Midfield Issues
Clayton has fallen off a cliff, probably the terrible mismanagement of his pre-season has done this. Trac has been given license to get more forward, less impact in the middle. Viney in bad form, maybe slowing down. Sparrow will never break out. ANB is ok depth but shouldn't be attending as many bounces as he is. Kozzy is ok in limited spells, but like Trac he is a forward half impact player, playing him onball takes away from our scoring. Salem, no idea why he has been deemed a midfielder after 8 years playing off half back, just another brain dead decision by the coaching staff. Rivers, actually showed promise late last year, can't move him through there this year though for reasons unknown. Brayshaw retiring really hurt us, club should've done a better job when it came to the decision to retire him. We needed to know before the trade/draft period, this has [censored] us well and truly.

To quote Christian Salem: "We wanted to get off to a good start after last week." "It was dissapointing we didn't get off to a good start today."

2024 Game Style
No the reality is it comes down to money and opportunity. McKay playing 2nd fiddle to Curnow is hardly going to worry about playing with Brown, Petty and JVR. We have Ben Brown on our books when he was cooked in 2022, we've only just now found use for McDonald after two mediocre years as a forward. Brayshaw was a killer in that he retired post the trade period but going for his money is written off as well. We should have the cap space available to entice these players.

Windsor has been impressive to this date, but if we used what we had available to us and the futures market that we couldn't have prized a Naughton or McKay out of their homes? Your shout about Tex is perfectly reasonable, I wouldn't have been against giving him a chance so long as he did commit to improving himself like he ended up doing while still at Adelaide. The point is the club felt that what we have currently is good enough and I can't be satisfied with that. How can you make the list actively worse through the trade period when you're in a window to win a flag? (Note: I said trade period, our drafting hasn't been an issue).

We have our own data scientists that give us all the same numbers champion data see. They know all the key areas you need to be the top 1 or 2 in to win a premiership and yet here we are doing what exactly? trying to reinvent the wheel? What are they actually discussing week to week when they say they need to work on things and improve them? because whatever they're doing is not working. I disagree with the idea that if we just played the same away as last year we would be fine, because we had two seasons of a sample size to show our forward entries were going backwards. However, the drastic change to ball movement from our back half is doing more damage to us then if we didn't change anything. We needed to be aggressive in the draft/trade period to actually go and get a proper KPF. A team vying to win a premiership shouldn't have the ghost of Ben Brown, two defenders turned forward and a 20 year old kid manning it's forward line. I'm sure people will say "well, who was available?", as if their aren't key forwards sitting in teams at the bottom of the ladder that wouldn't want to win a premiership. I am very confident Tom Fullarton wasn't the only key forward available last pre-season. The other problem I have is our centre bounce and clearance work. It irked me last year when we stuffed around with the mix of players we put through there. I was skeptical pre-season when it was suddenly decided Salem was a midfielder. We are getting absolutely murdered in the middle. Oh and guess who our midfield coach is now? the coach that came from a team that used to sack off clearances.

Jake Lever Out for a Month
considering how pathetic we were without him yesterday this is a massive loss

Time to Blood Jeffo
What has our list managers done that's left us in a situation where we our best key forward is 187cm. JVR has shown some promise but he is as fustrating as Petty at times. Petty was a premiership defender and we throw him forward because we can't trade/draft any one [censored] decent.

That doesn't really make any sense? What are your parameters here? We were awful against Brisbane (but we use a travel excuse), Carlton we were awful for 3 quarters (but because we did well in one quarter that undoes all before it). What about Round 1 against the Swans? We can go in on some past season performances if you wish as well.

Back home from the game now. Every single player was pathetic. Billings and McAdam absolute fumblers, no good. Gawn, Oliver, Viney, Petracca, May and Salem, if you want to be paid well, you can't pick and choose when you turn up. Absolute garbage from all of them. Ben Brown shouldn't be getting games, he's finished.

PODCAST: Rd 05 vs Brisbane
Thoughts on the balance of the side against the lions? To me it's very telling that Salem goes down and Woewodin is playing half back for the rest of the game. Felt like between Woewodin, Howes, McVee and eventually Oliver we couldn't get the matchups right down back. Then if you look in the forward half, JVR, Brown, Fritsch, Petty and Tholstrup provided little to no pressure on their opponents and were often getting bodied in marking contests. Obviously, injuries are a part of the reason for this issue but having no genuine second ruck to relieve Gawn is forcing us to play a very tall forward line that is nowhere near as mobile as even the Lions tall forwards. I would like to see one of Petty/Brown dropped out the side alongside Salem and Tholstrup and then bringing in Moniz-Wakefield (to play half back) and Pickett/Taj (in the forward line). Thoughts?
