I've been a huge Weid fan for a long time, but even I'm questioning why at this point. Agree the reaction to his performances are often over the top, but they certainly aren't without merit.
-
I trust Melbourne enough these days that we won't play two horrible games in a row. Should win this convincingly.
-
Probably because they aren't regular occurrences this year, however Weid's poor performances have been.

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year

I've spent years defending SW here on DL and to friends and family. I was convinced he had all the ability in the world and just needed a good run of games to get things clicking. My opinion on Sam has changed completely after watching him on the weekend. His intensity is nothing short of embarrassing for a 6"5 100kg forward. He cannot complete a mark to save his own life. He didn't even tackle. He does not provide a target i50 and defenders have started taking marks over him instead of punching. Trade or delist SW. Hope BB takes his chance now, otherwise our flag chances aren't looking that good. -
Happy to admit I was wrong about SW. Pathetic effort. Drop immediately for BB regardless of Casey form. Hope Sam gets traded

This is the important part. In this scenario, suddenly our key forwards are all very old and toward the end of their careers. Doesn't bode well for our premiership window to last 5 years instead of 2
-
I don't think he'll ever fully recover from the knee issues, ergo he may end up being a flop. I don't think that's a controversial position to take.
-
BBB might end up a rare flop from our recruiting department at this rate ... I don't rate him that highly anyway, much rather more game time into Weideman

University research on fans' views of racism in the AFL

Honest question - to those complaining about this survey, why don't you just just not fill it out and move on with your day? How often do you take issue with other completely optional academic surveys? -
No more than they were a week earlier

Exactly my question. It seems so counter-intuitive to me, almost a slap in the face to the outgoing coach when you think about it. "Sorry Bucks, I know we've been terrible all year leading to your downfall as coach. But we love you, so we're gonna play properly this weekend for your last game and beat the best team in the comp"
-
How unacceptable it is that someone isn't following the player satisfaction levels of mature age Collingwood players as closely as you are, and then has the nerve to ask a perfectly reasonable question in response to your assertions. Truly shocking.
-
The notion of a team suddenly becoming more dangerous because their coach quit seems absurd to me. Can anyone give me a tangible reason why they'd suddenly turn around and play well in this scenario? Dee's by 50+ this weekend
-
Not sure you watch SW closely enough if you think he parks himself i50 all game. Can recall a few things hes done up the ground in the last few weeks
-
Only a Melbourne supporter could identify a "danger period" in the fixture after we're 11-1 lol

I'll always remember this as one of our greatest comebacks. With the wiz lining up against us no less

When little is going wrong with the team holistically, it makes sense that we turn our focus to our handful of perceived weaknesses right now. SW is certainly that. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. SW has not had a kind career to date as far as development from continuity goes. Most players of his brethren have played an entire seasons more games than him. I think a lot of people underestimate the effect that can have on a key position player. I'm not in the camp of defending SW's current output by any means, but all I would say is I'd rather us be patient and give him as many games as possible. There's little doubt that he has the means to become a very good forward, something just needs to click. You just know if we traded him he'd start having 40+ seasons pretty quickly, and at age 24 he has plenty of them ahead. I don't know if I'm alone here, but BB so far as been pretty uninspiring. To rock up to the two's and get embarrassed with a 4 touch game and no goals tells me everything I need to know about him - he ain't gonna be the one to rip apart the finals for us. Not saying SW will be either , but what I've seen from him to date tells me he is close to being that player, while BB has proven to me he definitely won't be. SW had a cracking 2018 finals campaign, so at least we know he is capable of it on the big stage. Bottom line from me is - be patient. We're 11-1 and beating the best teams, so the fact is we can afford to bide our time playing SW until it clicks (and of course it will, you're an [censored] if you don't think he's going to come good). If it starts effecting us winning games, I'll reconsider my position, but until then we should be pumping as many games into the 24 year old long term KPF prospect as possible.

Of course he is. I love what sparrow is starting to do though

I really feel for those that still can’t just enjoy a game footy

I wasn't talking about the player, the Murray and Darling are her favourites

Can't wait to see what coaching masterclass Goody is gonna serve up tonight Good is definitely the right guy

Fantastic young player and already a very important part of the 22. My only knock on River's is that my wife finds him quite attractive

Where Will We Play Collingwood? (QB Big Freeze)
Smokey replied to YesitwasaWin4theAges's topic in Melbourne Demons
This seems like the easiest solution, but I wonder if the various commercial contracts the AFL is engaged in makes it untenable. One example I can think of would be around the TV advertising, where advertisers may pay for specific blocks of air time to coincide with things like product launches, major company announcements etc. I would imagine the AFL moving games around may breach contracts and incur financial penalties. TV is where the real money is for the AFL, not at the gate.
