The heart flutters at times, with Frosty, sure. The heart races in sheer admiration of what he actually achieves. We have a really good one in this young man. This year, he has been our KPD improving heaps.

He (Salem) is a midfielder by the traits he displays yet lacks a little physical strength when tackling bigger bodies. He needs to exploit some run away from the congestion, first, and then appear on a lead to space to receive and continue the forward delivery (which he is very capable of doing - particularly with our two space-finders on the space chase in Fritta and Melksham). Swinging Brayshaw and Tracca to half-forward could be advantageous, provided we use their movements to the same roaming effect that the Filth uses with Sidebottom, for example. He moves well from the flanking edge of the centre square to half forward on a deliberate lead - and back again depending on the flow - and seldom is he tagged across these distances. It also provides him with some variable 'square' proximity to the goalmouth on forward 50 entries - again, largely unmanned. The MFC younger fellas found this out last game, and found it too hard to stick with him, as well. It appears to be a very reliable and consistent goal producing routine, actually.

These are some of the thoughts that matter for a team in a massive rebuild, such as the MFC.

Goodwin cannot merge a team. His coaching and strategies demand that one individual carry the load when the chips are down or form is once again waning. Fritsch just happened to be the one that day who was able to get the ball and it is bad luck that his kicking boots were muddy when taking shots. There were no forwards leading to space - it is not demanded of them - so Fritta took the initiative and was effective. There has not been adequate kicking practice under Goodwin where set shots and snaps at goal are required; your grandmother would have better accuracy than a Goodwin-coached team. I'd reckon Fritta will do something about his kicking in the search for improved accuracy and reliability - he was once very accurate! Moving to the seniors, he has gained in some regards and lost a few others under Goodwin.

Additionally, Moonshadow, ' ... one more time I'm going to spew up...' is another dumb, nothing phrase that emanates from the intolerant when those of interest confirm generalisations of opinion.

Actually, I am not sure what Goodwin wants. He has led a talented bunch up the garden path for too long now ... leaving most of them under-developed and uncertain of a footy career. He has no breadth to his thinking and his ability to impart that thinking and alternatives for effectiveness seem sadly lacking.

Ridley and Bluey had a good deal in common - both on the field and off the field. Great pair - boy, we could do with some of that quality smaller stuff right now!

A very valid point and it has always been observable - yet on occasion, he drove some great rallies and made some keen decisions. It was consistency and the gathering of statistics for his efforts that cruelled his game; thus, mid-career he began breeding an urgency to 'bomb it long' and let the recipient wear the consequences. Viney was also quick to adopt this habit, at the expense of his 'once'-short passing excellence and rapid ball movement. Too concerned with being a hit man/hard man at the expense of efficient team play was our dual captain.

Could be ... might not be - depends on the interpretation that will be slightly downcast after this season. I'd like to see better coaching ameliorating our consistent woes onfield. Of the three you suggest, if one midfielder had to go then it could well be Viney whose form and questionable playing routines (inviting opponents to take him on, for example) hamper the Team; further, he is not quite the kind of guy we need at the moment as a player and certainly, as a captain.

Quite observable - he plays for the Filth; therefore, he is allowed to do this against an opponent who is a far better ruckman. Max has to be blocked, held, screened, pushed every game - at all forms of ruck contests including pack marks. The green snot goblins reckon it is fairy Nuff, obviously. It will descend into kicking him in the balls, next.

As for the trading of players before next season, I think we will be unable to trade anyone who has had something to do with Goodwin. No-one will be interested in picking up a player who is scarred for his football life. As for trading Goodwin, what in Heaven's name would be the reason to secure him as a coach?

Norm would go straight for the jugular with any player - no room for personality outcomes or self-interest. It was 'Team, team, team' and what you are doing to improve 'Team'? Now, get on with it.

It must be realised that with the confusion of the game plan through the midfield, Brayshaw cannot save the whole team. He is still in the top five players for the MFC - and should be retained just in case a new order of coaching takes place for the future and his skills - and those of Clarrie and Gawn - will elevate. Viney is in that basket, as well, and the necessary team reliance will resume whilst the rabble and lesser skills of many will dissipate.

Obviously, Goodwin's first thought was a different but 'as expected' excuse that was not justifiable. Very much a jumble of unconvincing words already imparted to the death across the year. It is time he was replaced as the tendency to dodge the issues is far too repetitive - he has not developed the team across the board ( two teams actually as Casey is involved to the hilt) and in that regard, Casey - where he applies less interest - is out--performing his main charges.

OMac must be dropped for this game - too unable to contest the ball against an opponent, shirks the issues, reliant of chasing whilst getting further and further behind the spoiling zone, creates significant gaps in the backline arriving to the contest after the ball has been marked or delivered by hand and/or foot.
