It seems no one has identified the identified key forward as yet on this thread...

The beauty of having loving connected relationships within the club, and fostering loving connected relationships external from the club over many many years. This is the unrewarded and unseen work that goes on within the industry, that allows these trades to happen.

Hammer Comes Down at the Crows After External Review
Engorged Onion replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has the external review created better outcomes for the club yet, than an internal review? Let me know @Clint Bizkit -
Bent over again...

I think you're the first to use the expression! Congratulations!

@Yokozuna - care to put it in a riddle format? ie: "The guy that spreads both butter and his wings, yet remains ocean-bound"

Has the name been mentioned in post#262 ?

You may well be correct @dazzledavey36 Just on that, do you happen to have the whiteboard list of the clubs preferred forwards to be drafted in perchance?
-

Learnings... what were the learnings?

Earning big bucks doesn't preclude you from mental health issues, nor does it heart balm the fact that being a gifted athlete means you grind out the process of your chosen sport and at times, wish you were somewhere else, doing something different, away from the grinding out training daily, the meetings, more training, more meeting, more meetings, AND more meetings, honing craft, AND more meetings rehab and did i mention the meetings?, social events, playing in front of 15-95,000 people who scrutinise you, rinse and repeat weekly for 6 months of the year. Then there is the scrutiny internally from your club, from yourself, from commentators, from the average joe on a keyboard, with no respite, ever, until you retire. Also, sometimes workplaces are a bit [censored] and its ok for him not value being an AFL footballer.

If this trade gets done, this would be the club being ruthless* right ? We want the club to be ruthless right? But only if ruthlessness aligns with what I the poster thinks is right, right? *as well as the duality of meeting Angus's needs with a compassionate course of action.

Benny Brown...come on down. I presume he's a mate of Preuss...

All teams get rejected all the time by players due to length of contract (long term security) $ of contract $ of contract compared to others pitched role within the football system experiences of friends within 'said' clubs system With Elliott rejecting us, its all and none of those things.... there is no shame in it. What would be shameful is OPENING THE WARCHEST for multiple big name players and having that become public knowledge post player rejecting us. A la North a few years back.

Interview was on Saturday, Elliott informed Melbourne on Saturday - presumably prior to interview. Mahoney gave naught away as potential trade was already rejected.

Mmmm ... I either keep those folk on for the hilarity, or block them if it becomes incessant...

Maybe I am a nerd, but I see language as important. Freo have no interest in the prising of him out, however Gus/his management may have approached them...

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
Engorged Onion replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think people are confounding the need for pace, when you play on the wing, vs outside run from stoppages. Best wingman this year (not the AFL AA version)... bloody Mitch Robinson... Someone already posted it early this year.. this article is a fascinating read on how to play wing in 2019, and what the expected requirements are... https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/mitch-robinson-why-allaustralian-panel-made-a-mockery-of-players-by-not-selecting-genuine-wingmen/news-story/9e0d4e49d1770d54788d0a2174461cef Some key points from Mitch on how he viewed traditional wingman... I think some current posters, still hold this view. Before this year, my perspective on what attributes are required for a winger would be what most of the AFL community probably thinks, that they: — Hate the contested football — Are extremely fit — Probably weigh about 70 to 80kg — Are a great ball-user and can run the 3km time trial in less than 10 minutes -
Mmmm, I think he will come and the 'announcement' is irrelevant- there is also a gut feel that perhaps its about Freo and Melbourne sorting out what can be done with Gus, as part of this...

I have a vibe that he has been enquired about - but that is purely linked to the fact that Alan Richardson is on board... on that... I don't particularly rate him, but he does do well against us. I also think he looks a bit like the depictions of Jesus Christ... so I hope if we get him, he has a second coming...

I guess if it happens, then Gus has driven it. Who knows what it is a reflection of, it’d all be conjecture. Is it about the FD/Goodwin? Is it about family? Is he mates with Hogan? We will get something quite tasty back for him if/when he leaves. FWIW I actually love this time of year now, the capacity for many bigger names to move has never been like it in the history before - it’s quite enjoyable. And players shouldn’t and quite rightly are not beholden to ‘loyalty’ like every other industry on earth.
